It's heartbreaking the way we treat the oceans and the life in it. And disgusting 2. No responsibility taken, no respect given. Just take take take.

Thank you for this brilliant work. I'm sick to my stomach. I was down there two years ago - and I was told - like everyone else was - it was the Orcas. I feel very naive for not digging deeper. Thank you for providing more facts. Please let us know if there's anything we can do to help.

thank you for watching and for commenting. for now the big push is just to get as many eyes on the documentary as possible. Many, even in South Africa, are unaware of the reality of the nets. In an ideal scenario, I think it will take international pressure AND pressure from within South Africa to initiate policy change and turn the Sharks Board into a proactive helpful group for shark conservation. But it all starts with just giving people the basic understanding and facts. So...share it with everyone you know! And if you have any friends at the UN who deal with animal rights and protections, definitely share it with them!

upon further reflection..a really big win...would be to get Nat Geo or Animal Planet or Discovery Channel to show this movie, even once...on their network, instead of another "Shark Week" film showing sharks only as predators. To have any one of them show the movie would do a lot of good as to the perception of sharks by us humans.

@@TheLastSharkTeam get people to sign a request aka petition to those channels and tell them one will win the compettion to screen it. It needs to get out there. Rely on support from support aka potential tourists. Just speak the language of those who pull the trigger whichever way they think is most beneficial. To whatever.

@lisas.4531 You are very welcome. As a Cherokee American, I am concerned about all life on our Mother Earth, not just on the land, or Turtle Island, but in the oceans too. As we humans have become more dependent on the oceans for food, but also for the life-giving qualities it provides for us all, we need to consider how the single-use plastics of our daily lives end up in the oceans, polluting and endangering every life form there. I see evidence of it again and again. It's sickening. I hope more people take the time to see documentaries like The Last Shark and heed the lessons provided by them. Be well, my friend, and more importantly, be happy. 🪶🪶👍🏻 Blessings to you and yours.

We Humans are gluttonous. We build up the land and are taking over the oceans, impacting ecosystems and biodiversity. This relentless expansion highlights the urgent need for sustainable practices and environmental stewardship. Only by rethinking our approach to development can we ensure a balanced coexistence with nature.

Thank you to the many volunteers that gave their time and footage for this incredible documentary. It is a sad state that we live in that none of the major film industry will fund a truthful film about the real dangers sharks face today. Most content concentrates on the dangers of shark finning, and while I am fully aware of the appalling numbers of sharks killed yearly for a stupid soup, finning isnt the only danger out there caused by humans. Gill nets have been shown for many years to be the wrong way to deal with the shark population. There are fabulous new technologies being used now that harm no animals and are much better at prevention of attacks than shark nets. It is very sad that this part of the world is being so heavily impacted by the nets, when they dont really do what the public wants anyway. All most people want is to be able to swim safely in the ocean. Most people today understand that we should not be killing sharks to protect our hobbies. Its their home. It isn't ours. We play in it for a few hours and then we leave. We absolutely cannot allow netting to continue. The simple fact is it just doesn't work.

I surfed on both coasts of the US. In California, great whites would swim right past us in the water on their way north toward their feeding area off San Francisco. They never bothered surfers, not while I was surfing anyway. I once worked aboard a tuna fishing boat. It's a brutal industry, to the tuna and the sharks who were attracted to the the struggling tuna. It's appalling that the great white population has been decimated by such horrific numbers. Sharks are necessary to the oceans, they're one of the most important apex predators and provide culling of fish populations to preserve the best of species DNA to pass along to newer generations. Without them, the oceans are in trouble. We've done enough damage to this planet already.

I’ve heard the killer whales port and starboard ran the sharks out of South Africa for a little while? There are more great whites than ever in California and even on the east coast from New York down to Florida so to say there is a shortage of whites just because they aren’t in this one area this year seems dishonest but I’m far from an expert.

these are good points and the exact questions we get when doing in person screenings. One of the main points highlighted in the movie is that the Sharks Board, which is run by the South African government...publishes studies based on sharks captured in their shark net program. One such paper noted over 15,666 sharks killed by the Sharks Board over a 22 year period (1978-2000) in the nets...and over 28K captured in the nets. To us, that's honestly just too many sharks killed, regardless of any other rises on shark numbers in other areas.

I’m seriously believing in global warming now. I went to Far rockaway beach here in New York City. The water was warm like Florida. I was shocked. It’s always freezing. And the shark drones were flying around. I only went in up to my knees. They also found a great white shark nursery off Montauk…In Long Island, Ny

Amazing. Conservation by nature is benefiting one at the expense of other, usually as a result of man's tampering. It reminds me of the Yellowstone reintroduction of wolves, but sadly sharks cannot be reintroduced as there are only so many, thus requiring s a structured intervention.

I don't think it was only the movie JAWS which made humans afraid of sharks, what about the USS Indianapolis, during world war 2, worse shark attack in history, the sea was infested with hundreds of sharks attacking sailors who were adrift, 150 sailors were eaten by those sharks, , tiger sharks are known to swallow their prey whole, so it wasn't only the Jaws movie that scared the shit out people, what would happen if we end up with a shark infestation? scary thought😱😭
