Is there much torsional spring with each additional rod added? Such as if you want a 6 ot 9 it springs past it or not enough from the machine end.

Yes there is a lot of torsional flex/spring. It’s not real noticeable on short shots. As more rods are added it’s more noticeable. Ground conditions also play a big role in it. On that particular drill, the rods are 10 foot long with threads at each end. Every time we add a rod we put anti-seize grease on the threads to prevent over torquing. That is directly related to torsional flexing.
