Great respect for Curtis and Anderson. These two were the best bodies of their Time! Aging women in movies. Love to see it.

Brilliant art imitating life and Pamela "gets it" and probably suggested it. Pamela is still beautiful to me gut other give her shit about her being older and not baywatch Pam. They don't get everyone ages and I love how Pam has embraced it, no make up etc irl. I think in a way, I don't know if she will ever say it, but I think she is relieved to not have to be in full glam on camera all the time. Able to just enjoy her gardening and home and relax and whatever she wants to do. Some of these Hollywood gals can't deal with aging and idk if it is pressure or their own vanity or a little of both but Pam not turning to surgery and just going with life, how can anyone hate on this lady. Love her so much. I thought it would be hard on her, harder than most due to her looks and body being her calling card to fame but her doing this movie, give me more Pamela, love youj.

Just saw the movie myself. I really enjoyed. But there is some sadness to it. Maybe I felt it more because I’m early 60s, have a job I love. I’ve been there 30 years and would be crushed if it was just pulled out from underneath me. I also saw some interviews with Pamela Anderson, and she explained how they filmed this in 18 day using actual film. And the cinematographer had special lenses made to soften the edges and can only be seen on a big screen.

I disagree with your rating I thought this was beautiful, heartbreaking, and real, and a true reflection of where Pam and Jamie Lee Curtis are in their lives. How wonderful to see Pam get this opportunity to show she is more than what she was. Jamie Lee Curtis was so touching in the scene where she’s doing the dance on the small stage because for me, it made me think about the time in true lies with Schwarzenegger, which she did that very sexy dance when she was in her prime. I just thought it was fantastic. It was such a good movie and it was touching, and it was all the things that you said it was but I don’t think it only deserve four stars. I would give it five.

Background music is way overused & often drowns the dialogue. This is with all mediums not this specific film. Love the backlighting and use of the had held camera!!!

Pamela has crossed a bridge that most people never cross, let alone actors in real life. She has entered the realm of wisdom finding a firm centeredness a causality to some cruelty, nefarious intentions and psycho fans. I was actually at the BC Lions' game where she was discovered on the jumbotron. At that time she was more youthful enthusiasm and bouncy boobs than talent, but she has come a very long way.

I often wish for subtitles to be available in movies, not just this one. I'll watch it again when it's streamed to see what I missed. lol. I thought Dave Bautista was great in that role also. Because it was such a quiet role, he probably won't be recognized for it. The only thing I didn't like was the daughter. Nothing against the actress. It's just that I have a visceral hatred, yes hatred, of the "disrespectful" child sterotype that seems to be in every drama. Her role could have been much more poignant. A lot of kids love and are respectful to even bad parents that don't deserve it. Instead, the movie went directly to the "snotty, standoffish, insulting" child trope. Another pet peeve of mine that this movies does is only show a couple of characters in an area where there would be a lot of people. It wasn't until the end that we got a sense of how big the show cast was. Overall though, I thought the movie was good, and I did love seeing Pamela Andera and JLC!

The whole thing is too "mournful" and melancholy for me. Glad she's getting attention, but I hope she takes a role that isn't the persecuted woman in the future. It just gets old seeing the promotion for the film with all of the actresses & director speaking as if we're still living in pre liberation times. I'm a woman and know plenty of successful, strong women who never spend their time whining about the "patriarchy."
@geslinam970311 күн бұрын
I plan on seeing it later on, not going to waste theatre prices, and not in a huge hurry - as a woman who had an appearance oriented career, i can kind of relate, and it looks a little depressing to me. I read she isn’t a big part of the show, because of her age she is in the 5th row, she is not the star, and that she is isolated from her family because of her choice to pursue a showgirl career. She definitely did not plan well for retirement. Looks like the main themes here are delusion, regret, and loneliness. Yeah, I will wait till it’s on Tubi.
@lahaza651511 күн бұрын
@@geslinam9703 I like the way you put it "an appearance related career:)" I did as well, and admittedly did little planning for future. It's a little hard in that way to see it, but it still doesn't mean we have to walk around in a melancholy haze😉 Cheers to you for real if you did better planning!
@geslinam970311 күн бұрын
@@lahaza6515 I got a late start on the “better planning” and try not to think too much about all the money I blew - because I sure did have a lot of fun. For sure, one of my top regrets in life was not being smarter about saving/investing earlier….it is definitely scary when you get to a certain age and realize you don’t have any money, but I certainly don’t blame the patriarchy for my choices!

To be quite honest, the previews look lame and the acting is pedestrian.
@tscribe51511 күн бұрын
Even with a running time of just 90 minutes, "The Last Showgirl" is a drag, mainly because it repeats its main points ad nauseam. The Academy should rescind the Oscar it gave to Jamie Lee Curtis in 2023 because of her over-the-top acting here. (And no one who works with this Vegas cocktail waitress -- no sympathetic co-worker, no supervisor -- takes her aside and tells her to update her '70s clown makeup, if only for the sake of the club's reputation?) Meanwhile, what's with all the critical love for Pamela Anderson, with her breathy, little-girl-lost delivery? This performance is a nothingburger. Finally, there is way too much jiggle in this movie -- not of women's body parts, but of the annoying handheld camera.
