Thanks for covering this battle Apollo! Even though it was a defeat it was so much fun to play. I really enjoyed how the last stand worked out, my Genoese crossbows got 700+ kills haha. And my general charged only by himself at Venetian troops and could actually break some at the end. He was truly a legend there :D

Medieval 2 still got it going on! I just ended playing with Rus. I had to surender all of my original provinces to Mongols while fighting Poles, Danes and english on the west. I just returned Novgorod and Ryazan but stupid Venice and Hungary attacked. Answer to all this is Tsar's guard. Cav for the win.

The Polish and Hungarians lost a lot with that assault in the middle. That and Venice camping for half the battle turned it, but it was an entertaining fight nonetheless.

Great battle and commentary as always., i am waiting to see you hit that million subscribers! Switching between banner lord and these epic battles has been entertained, but feels like you lots some passion that you had back in 2020.

I honestly need a new game that you guys will also enjoy. I am hoping that will be Mannor Lords will be that game. It has been so long since a great game has come out, and I am getting tired of playing the same games over and over.

Also, you're wrong about the dismounted knights. They are just as effective against infantry because they pierce armor and shields while swordsman don't, and they are well armored, as well armored as feudal knights are. I ran tests in combats and found that dismounted knights are actually BETTER front line troops than feudal knights or all tbe other infantry in this battle, that's why they are late period infantry while the rest are high or middle period...

After playing so much Reforged it is tough for me to adjust back to the Vanilla Med 2 but I do try to play a few of them now and then. I'm chuffed to see a 3v3 get together, I usually just see 1v1s or 2v2s for Vanilla so glad that the boys have been able to gather up for something bigger.

You say the rules were 1 artillery, but trebor (milan) brought 2 units (its 2 trebs per 1 unit, and there were 4 trebs, so 2 units). Maybe the rules were 2 artillery? Or he broke the rules.

a blast from the past :) first examination with lots of pike and artillery , looks to be a shooty fight with cav attacks on the flanks? intials thoughts are that portugal made milan dance to his tune, with his greater crossbow strenght but even then , some good cav charge on his missle.. but as they say on the battlefield, make them dance to your tune and i think portugal will have the edge here yes good teamwork from poland , and a lack from silicy, you must negate your opponent if he moves to another point in the battlefield In a chaotic field, sometimes the more troops you loose enables you to concentrate more on the leftover cav, which sometimes can enable you to do more damage...sometimes this balances things out :) ultimately it did come down to the fact that venice , entered the battle late, and therefore most of his army was intact, whilst the rest of the field was exhausted..and so the end was clear

Also, the reason everyone brought pikes is because they are the best way to beat cavalry. They can stop ANY cavalry force. Also, they are effective against infantry as long as you can prevent flanking. Historically pikes were the most effective fighting unit especially when combined with missile troops like guns or crossbows or bows. (Like pike and shot). I wouldn't play with you if you banned pikemen because thats like my comment about banning military tactics.
