Simon...You need to go do a tour of Hook Norton and see all the workings from the top down. Also, first Sunday of every month they actually run the steam engine for about an hour. Takes you back in time to a bygone era. Well worth a second visit for the tour.

Back in the middle 80s, I was over in England and at a pub in Woodstock called the Queen's Own Arms. Jerry, the publican let me try my first bitter. It was a half pint of Hook Norton's Mild bitter. I loved it, then I had a half pint of their Best Bitter and it was even better. Then I went for a full pin to of Old hooky and that was it, The best beer I had ever tasted! I think that stands even up to today.

Absolutely amazing brewery Simon have seen some documentary’s on this beer b4 and like wise the steam side of things is just amazing. As I grew up around steam with the great western railway pendennis castle 4079 being part of a railway centre my late stepfather was the president of it has been returned to the Uk refurbished and running again at the dicot railway centre. Back to the beers we are lucky to get old hooky haymaker and twelve day in Australia through Dan Murphys.

Shame you didn't try the mild, it is glorious. Well worth a return visit for the tour. Twelve Days, only available in cask around Christmas, is my favourite beer full stop. It is very special, you know it's nearly Christmas, when Twelve Days arrives in my local hooky pub. As others have said the brewery is a national treasure.

We host the largest independent one day charitable beer festival in the country, I'm involved in running it. You mentioned our neighbour, Mr Clarkson. He has a new pub just a little further on, near Burford. Maybe pop in. Boom. 3 decent videos to make in one trip 🍻

£3.50 for a bottle of beer from a brewery and it’s probably not even a pint! I went there in 1991 expecting to buy 5-10 cases super cheap. I’d only travelled from Birmingham but was shocked to find I could buy Old Hookey, half a mile from my home for 50p a bottle cheaper. SHOCKING! Those were the days when you did booze cruises and you could get 12 bottles of 5.3% Bishop’s Finger for £8. I even think they were pint bottles at that time. Leffe Brune and Blond in 24 x 500ml can cases to boot at £10. 😎😇

Felt a bit sorry for the lad in the gift shop. Makes me cringe when people with cameras turn up unannounced and ask for tours etc because 'I've come all the way from South Wales'. It's not really fair on the staff and puts them in an awkward position. Tours are £20 per person and support the Brewery and local jobs. Was that the 'tutored tasting' part of the tour at the end too?
