Life is short. It's difficult enough to exist on this planet, without being abused. If a guy slaps u, punches u, is verbally abusive, that person will always do it again. Apologies mean nothing.

I remember a woman telling her pastor that her husband was abusing her. He was so angry, that he took several other guys with him to the house and beat the crap out of that guy. He never hit his wife again. I wish more pastors were like that. The point to all that? If the abuser knows that there will be dire consequences for his actions, he'll think twice before doing them. If he knows he can get away with it, then he will. Bullies always follow the same patterns. They're cowards at heart. So glad she left before saying, "I do..." Freedom is a beautiful thing. Really good story and production quality.

It is like that in some families too. When I was growing up and man put his hands on a woman in my family, a posse of male family members would confront the guy and whip his ass. That stopped the physical abuse; however, most of the time the emotional and verbal abuse continued. That is why I say ladies need to leave at the first sign of any kind of abuse period.

I think something that's important to understand is that often when abusers say they're sorry, that they don't know what came over them, that they're ashamed, that they don't want to be that kind of person, etc. etc. they often are telling the truth. Some abusers do it on purpose or manipulatively with no desire or intention to ever change, but a lot of abusers genuinely do lose control. They don't understand why they behave the way they do, and they don't know how to stop it, which is why they *cannot* change until they get long-term professional help. I'm actually decent friends with one of my former abusers who got help like that and is a decent person now after 8 years of meds and therapy, and he'll be the first to admit that what he did wasn't okay and he didn't have control of it. I think it's important to understand this for two reasons: one, to understand why so many victims of abuse sympathise with their abuser. Because they live with them, they love them, they care about them, and they know that it's real when they say they're sorry and they don't want to be that guy. A lot of people like that come from abuse themselves or they're genuinely struggling with other issues (my abuser for instance became abusive after his dad died, when he developed serious depression). It's easy to look at an abusive relationship and see only the abuse, but that's not what the victim sees. The second though is to understand that because the abuser doesn't understand what they're doing, why, or how to change it, that means they CANNOT change, no matter how much they might genuinely want to, without prolonged professional help. They cannot just decide not to do it again, no matter how much they might want to. It's not that they won't change - often it's that they cannot, at least not under their current circumstances, and there's nothing anyone can do to cause that change, including them. Once you understand that, and you understand why that change cannot and thus will definitely not happen, you start to understand why leaving them is necessary, even if hating them isn't.

Omg she’s so beautiful she favors janelle monáe to me. So many beautiful women lose to their confidence and develop low self-esteem due to low life losers such as his character. Women you please know your worth you deserve so much better than this. Love does not hurt...and it is definitely not the representation of the colors black, purple or blue.. on your skin nor the mental disruption of negative thoughts. You deserve better and I would know because I was here once and it took me almost 7 years to get out...now I’m happily married and I feel like my husband treats me like a queen all because of his love that he shows me not just tells me. I wouldn’t trade him for anything in this world and I am glad God gave me the strength to leave my abuser when I did because I would have not met my husband if I had stayed.
