We had the chance to visit farmer Ven and find out how he produces
100% Pure Cane juice .
The process was very interesting and realy had us wondering why Trinidad's suger industy is no more .
The days that the machine is usually out and the locations are:
Thursday- Debe Market
Friday- Marabella
Sunday - Marabella
These days would be all day long.
Other than that, the other locations without the machine are:
Marabella- Saturday
NAMDEVO market Pos- Saturday
NAMDEVO market Chaguanas- Saturday
NAMDEVO market Macoya- Sunday
call 744-8151 for more info

I have such respect for farmers. No farm: no food. If there is a problem with the supply chain, people will suffer without local farmers and home kitchen gardens. It is really great to see this sector getting the respect that is deserved.

Brilliant video Rendelina, depicting the work and life of a heroic entrepreneurial Trinidadian cane farmer. For the record my dear Dad David Manning Hanschell ,was a sugar agronomist employed by Caroni Ltd from 1955-1970.

Nice documentary Ren. Hats off to the farmer and his project. Full commendation to him ! I grew up in a cane-farming environment. I did all of the hard work from preparing the land, to selling the cane to Caroni Limited. Yes, The Sugar-cane industry was the lifeline of tens of thousands of households. There are thousands of Trinbagonians who never tasted cane-juice, far less raw sugar-cane. I always have a cane-patch in my backyard. Thanks again.

Yes, this is sustainable living. I thought this harvesting of cane disappeared in TT. I really love cold can juice! I want some! This is so awesome of you to do. Next time I visit TT I coming to look for your establishment. Trinis get too lazy is only concrete jungle everywhere and no more backyard/front yard gardens. I living in de cold and when summer time comes I plant enough herbs/vegetables to last me all winter ( 6 months ).

i totally agree long ago if you didnt do too well academically, the various estates and factories were there to get some form of income.also there were many skills to improve eg.drivers, welders, etc

Great video, reminds me of the times I used to work in the laboratory of a sugarcane factory here in Guyana, I had first hand sampling of the cane and crushing it to get out the juice, the cane juice was really rich, I couldn't drink it just like that without diluting it.

Lovely to see this video. In the 50's my grandfather, Jang Bahadoorsingh, purchased a sugar estate which eventually became Edinburgh 500 in Chaguanas. When i was a child in the '70s my entire family used to go watch them burn the fields and harvest the crop; it was such a special time for us signalling a new harvest cycle and continuity of tradition. Even though it was uneconomical, he continued planting out of a respect and nostalgia for the land and to keep the surrounding community employed. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your point of view, "progress" came and the land became too valuable to farm and it has now been developed.

I don't understand why the Trinidad govt dismantled the sugar cane industry just to import from Guyana, makes no sense. The govt is being bought out by drug dealers and crime contractors I have no respect for them. Now the sugar cane land is used to build govt housing. These people are hard working and George comments make sense. I plan to do agriculture in the coming years.

We have to continue farming, or lose our livelihood to foreign goods. The people must let government know our land is not up for sale to foreigners and we must produce our own food and improve life always.
