We're grateful to the management and staff of Marilissa Farms for allowing us special access to give you a behind the scenes look at their process. Join host, Khristy Beharry-Renie as she explains the production process and gives information on the different breeds of sheep and goat at Marilissa.

"Marilissa Farms is located on fifteen acres of lush grassland in Penal, Trinidad. Out of an intense passion for farming, the farm was originally developed as a hobby.
What started as a hobby farm developed into the largest small ruminant farm in the Caribbean.
Our farm currently consists of over 3000 goats, 4000 sheep, cattle, rabbits, llamas, miniature donkeys, Shetland ponies and a wide variety of birds and wildlife including but not limited to peacocks, macaws, parrots, geese, ducks and guinea birds just to name a few." - Source: www.marilissafarms.com

Congratulations. This is the type of production that is needed in Trinidad. Large scale farms in order to spend less on importing food. Too much negative news are put out by the media about the country. You should include tours as part of the tourist sector. I am sure you can fit in one or two tours a month especially for schools. I would love to visit on my next trip. The goats are loving but unfortunately one day they will go to market.

Hi, Khristy, this was informative and encouraging. I just looked at an equally encouraging video on a small goat farmer in Jamaica. Keep up the good work. Can we have another video, this time on free-run livestock?
