Bought my 2011 150 V6 back when it had 74,000km on it. It has been the perfect family car, absolutely trouble free (As a diesel mechanic I go through this car every maintenance event in such detail its almost pedantic) and honestly will keep this car as long as I possible can. As far as economy is concerned, every single tank calculated ends up at about 12.8L/100km mixed, probably due to the fact its 100% standard.

That is nice to know, I would rather pay 2 liters per 100km more than have a headache on the road with the whole familiy. I never had any issues with Toyota petrol engines and I had couple of different models.12.8l is pretty ok concidering i need such a vehicle for vaccation only and occasionaly offroad trips with kids. I make around 15-20tkm which is not much and the petrol engine is way to go in my opinion.

I’m in the states. Bought the wife a 2020 4Runner 1GR-FE, and I bought a new 2021 4Runner same motor. Awesome motor vs the 3.5 in the Tacoma’s. The 5 speed is great, awesome video.

Updated Denso plugs for the 1GR V2 (IKH20TT) come in at around $15 ea. Curiously, in the FJ from factory one head has Denso plugs, the other NGK!

Just averaged 10.3L/100 from Cobar NSW to Angaston SA. Two occupants fully loaded, 98octane sitting on 103-108. No Bbar. HT Michelins.

They relocate the oil filter for the addition of engine oil heat exchanger (Dual VVTI version) that is located right on top of the oil filter housing....for north America anyways. I also notice Australian version doesn't have the air injection pump and it calls for 0w20 oil instead of 5w30 for EPA crap.

Thanks for this; it was an informative video. How often do we replace the ATF? What about the Front and rear differentials?

I just cleaned my MAF sensor on my 150 V6. And also installed new dual force battery. What a difference! Smoother and quieter running motor. Maybe the MAF being cleaned and EMS reset when new battery installed?
@The_Touring_Jedi3 жыл бұрын
Which battery? MAF sensor cleaning and reseted EMS could be the cause why engine runs smoother. I also think that the quality of the petrol also have an impact on how the engine runs. If you take 98octane it would burn lot quieter and smoother anyway. I know it cost more, but the engine works lot better with good petrol.

I too have found genuine Toyota iridium spark plugs cheaper from the Toyota dealer than from aftermarket retail. Always compare Toyota’s prices to others.

Another con with the 150 series V6 is that they require premium 95 unleaded. Trouble is more and more service stations are ditching 95 and selling only 98 RON.
@carmonaprime62973 жыл бұрын
True. I’m from the Philippines and I put 100 octane euro 6 petrol. This spec is also NEAT gasoline wherein there’s no ethanol.
@The_Touring_Jedi3 жыл бұрын
98 or 100 octane costs more, but the engine, not only V6 from Toyota runs much more smoother with 98 or higher. I have tried diferents sizes of engines of different car models and it was pretty big differnce after jumping from 95 (only God knows if it has that much) to 98 or higher. For example, my daily Suzuki Kizashi 2.4i on 95 when on idle have to much knocking, on 98 or higher it runs so smooth you even cant hear the engine standing next to the car.
