Gene, I want you to know I have been fishing for 59 years for every type freshwater fish I chose to fish for. Spent TONS of $ and watched every fishing show since they began on TV, even ole Bill Dance on channel 5. But your UTube videos are the most enjoyable of all I have watched. I guess it brings me back all the memories of simple fishing that I enjoyed growing up in this sport. Best success to you bud - Fishin' IS GOOD FER YA!!!

Thanks for finding your video card Richard. I have had the flu for the last few days, and watching this video helped me get through some major cabin fever. Also, tell your two sons and wife happy new year for me as I saw them in your last video. Wanted to tell you that I have purchased a nice med light rod and a 1000 series shimano reel to get into some crappie. We have a ton of ice right now in the richmond, va area, but have a good warm up coming this week. I was bass fishing in a pond that I like before Christmas using suspended jerk baits, and actuually had a crappie latch on and surface but got off. So, I know crappie are in there. Will let you know what happens with my crappie venture. Thanks for your videos.

Richard, great video. My dad told me a long time ago that you can learn more about fishing from a guy in a small aluminum boat or an old fellow sitting on a bucket on a bank than you can from a fellow jetting around in a new, decked out bass rocket. One reason I subbed to your channel.

Richard yours is becoming my favorite fishing show. I appreciate the effort you put into your shows and your attitude of presenting your insights and tips. I'm older than you by some years and I'm sure I won't be able to change but a little info about our spotted bass. The scientists have actually determined that these fish in our state are their own species and are now identified as alabama bass. I'll probably always call them spots but it is very interesting I think. Hope to see you on the water. Keep it up. We all love it.

Hey Mr. Gene! I just wanted to let you know that me and my Dad love your videos. We’ve done our fair share of fishing but we learn a lot from you and spend a lot of evenings just watching your videos. We live on the Tennessee river just South of Knoxville about 5 miles from Fort Loudon Dam. We would love to take you fishing on our portion of the Tennessee river if you ever find that you’ve got the time. You should do a couple of episodes on trolling for crappie or walleye or throwing shad for big stripers! Anyways, we love your videos and tell Elmo to get his butt out there with you!

Also a spotted Bass has the same size mouth as a smallmouth Bass, or if you close their mouth and look from the side of it you’ll see that the jaw line don’t go past their eye, like a largemouth does. That’s the way I’ve always told the difference in them, you know?

in the 90's i remember catching sauger from the bridges, in fact just about every bridge on guntersville would hold good numbers of fish from thanksgiving all the through Christmas.
