Now this was one remarkable post-trial day analysis. For the majority of Fruday's reporting, I listened to renowned news personalities and key witnesses and authorities extol the 'virtues of Ms Hicks' testimony and the ultimate dedication of Ms Hicks' moral and human struggle between her personal fondness for her former "boss", Donald Trump and her oath to tell the truth. Such courage, such poise, such all-American patriotism and true courage for this beautiful, young and wildly successful 'child star' whose loyalty on the one side (excused on the grounds of her youthful naivete) brought admiration due to her poise and evident intelligence as Ms Hicks martyred herself on the scaffold of justice and was thus enabled to testify with such genuine intensity and emotion that onlookers could express nothing but praise at this "pure-as-the-driven-snow" devotion to "nothing but the truth'. Lawrence O'Donnell was having none of it. The question should not be why was she brought to tears at key moments of her testimony, but rather why, after witnessing Trump's disgusting behaviour and lack of any moral fibre, did she not immediately resign? How could this young girl, placed in a position of extraordinary power just a short four years after her university graduation not immediately express a moral revulsion and leave in 2015? Suddenly, the newly minted canonization of Ms Hicks caused her' halo to go crashing to the ground with a resounding echo. Finishing school and privilege added to striking beauty and poise pay big dividends in the Trump World. However, when the King loses his Throne, it has always been historically true that the courtiers will quickly seek the most advantageous place at the Palace Gates to welcome the new Monarch. It must be difficult to watch all the King's lackeys and all the King's men, scramble to find greener pastures again. "Here,, as Lawrence O'Donnell would say, endeth the lesson." (You could have heard a pin drop in that studio.)
