Used to follow a quite a few car youtubers but id find myself not finishing the content or no longer watching the channel after a while. The late brake show is the only one ive stuck with and always watch all the way though, often ill watch through the tv because the quality just deserves it. The diversity of the content is great and although sometimes the actual car or topic may not be something im overly interested in, i always end up watching and thats testament to Jhonny and his character. I think hes had quite a rough time the past couples of years on a personal level...despite this hes smashing it. Keep up the good work Jhonny

I’m sorry that his personal life is a bit lumpy right now but I am sure equilibrium will return. He’s a nice guy. He deserves all the success he gets.

The other side of Jonny, what a really nice and sincere individual. One of the best interviews of him and his firework display of a mind. Being from a journalism background, and slightly older, has given him a wiser view of the car world and how to relay this to the viewer. Hard work pays off and am sorry it has been at the expense of his own circumstances but this man deserves to do well.

The one thing I admire about Jonny is his honestly and being so open to share his personality with us all. I really appreciate his quirky humour as most content you see just seems overly scripted and unnatural. I can relate so well to Jonny as he feels like he’s just a good mate from school I’ve known for years. Great interview and look forward to many more in the cool studio van. 👏

Jonny's channel has become my comfort watch on a Sunday evening, like London's Burning back when I was a kid. What he does with the barn finds imparticular is so warm & wholesome, older owners who have had something interesting hidden away & it's almost a last chance to see it dug out & potentially started in front of them. In some cases it has been the final time they've seen a much loved car. Jonny is also very well suited to the more oddball finds because hes so passionate & knowledgeable.

I think Jonny is successful because he is so genuine and down to earth. In a KZbin space that is full of ego and trend following it's refreshing to see original content that is backed by passion and interest in what is on camera. He explores the guff and that we share in our "car guy" groupchats and talk about down the pub not just the exotic or another MX5 etc. His way with people and their stories is admirable and lends itself so well to a TV style production but with the attention span of enthusiasts.

He shows complete respect to the owner or the owners relatives if the owner has passed away and respect for the car it’s self . Also, he seems to drag out any kind of history or facts about the vehicle in his easy going relaxed manner. The main thing, in my opinion, is that he talks TO people and viewers and not AT people. Good luck Johnny...hope to see you on stage at The N.E.C at The Classic Car Show in November

Always enjoyed Jonny’s segments on Fifth Gear so to find his eclectic presenting style and interests being poured into a KZbin channel was a real treat. KZbin is where I do most of my viewing now being able to watch on the big screen TV at home means the kind of quality content he produces and high production values, means it time well spent to sit down in front of the telly.

I love the Barnfinds, but I also love when Johnny tells the story of a 'historic' car of interest (for example, the VW XL1). There must be plenty of car 'investors' who would love him to do a video of their pride and joy, knowing that they will gain 20% in value within a week. Johnny's story telling is completely unique, and he can make the viewers care about vehicles that may have completely passed the world by. I would love to see a Lupo 3L or (original) Audi A2 1.2 Diesel on his show. Super economical, but 20 years too early. Keep it up Johnny!

Being in the UK his content is not really relevant to what I face today. That being said his approach takes me back to my first 16 years. Singer Vogue anyone, Cresta, Viva, Mini 1275 Gt, Zodiac, Zephyr, Cortina, Ford Consul Classic, A40, Morris Minor. So when he dips into a hidden spot and finds a major find, he spins a story like nothing else and it is simply enthralling. So grateful for his content.

Really enjoyed this conversation. Johnny, I’ve enjoyed your channel and your presentation style even before you started the channel. As an American of similar age but nowhere near as much car knowledge, and even less about British brands, I think what I enjoy is the history lesson aspect. Certainly the mystery/detective aspect is key as well. At bottom as demonstrated by this podcast you are just a great guy to have a conversation with, and that comes through in your channel. You should be a guest on other KZbin channels more often. I may have to start one just so I can invite you on.😊

I've been watching Jonny since the 5th gear days. I would guess that his Barn Find episodes are very popular and think he should take his own advice and maybe concentrate on doing a more thorough series of episodes on bringing a barn find back to life. I watch a lot of KZbin videos, in the same vain, and find them fascinating. The current teasers of pulling them out, and maybe getting them started, is great but then they're just gone and never seen again. Lets see a few back on the road. I realize the logistics involved with doing that can be daunting but others are finding a way to accomplish it. I think your channel will certainly benefit if you try that. Wishing you the best.

Fantastic interview. Thank you for a wonderfully relaxed conversation with a man who I believe to be the premier automotive content creator of this time. I didn’t realise until watching this that I’ve actually been following Jonny since the beginnings of his channel, back in the Car Pervert days. As an Australian, I was totally unaware of his previous work on Fifth Gear so I just stumbled across one of his early videos and loved his everyman manner and his obvious passion and enthusiasm for cars. Jonny's channel is one that is as good, if not better than many shown on main stream tv. Main stream TV looking for a new fresh format to replace the same old same Top Crap, this is it. Credit to Jonny for making the best car channel,

Jonny is successful presenting a variety of different content on his KZbin channel because HE is so interesting and genuine. (I also agree with him about SUVs, for all the tasks people claim they use them for they would be much better served with a minivan.)

Double nice bloke! Don’t go along with the barber chair idea. People come, people move on but when you create something amazing people want to stay ❤️

Love Johnny Smith, The Late Brake Show & Smith & Sniff podcast and this YT channel, I do get a bit of a tick, plays with my OCD, The red wire tha runs across the twoo shot doesn't line up! Drives me nuts! Keep up the good work Ben, Alex Kersten was another highlight along with 'old out yer 'and, Mike Brewer

honestly love jonnys channel been watching him since 5th gear. He should take a whistlin diesel approach and try and film using iphones and try and cut his costs down. i love his current set up but youtube can be too hit and miss and id hate for him to not be able to do this due to high running costs. been great listening to him on the Podcast.

The only automotive content I religiously look forward to is late brake and smith and sniff. I really love AutoAlex as well but they do come a firm second.
