Chained tcs to carry water from a river is a hard life I never want to experience again. Tried this once for an iceberg, instead we decided to use two tanker trucks where one was on the berg (such ramp, wow) and one on the shore where we had a purification system. We did this because people kept raiding the damn farm, so this way we could limit mobility on foot and add sam sites surrounding also. If you ever choose this route, it works beautifully but getting that truck onto the berg was a painful process. We lost one trying and had to push another out water before we got the ramp right and it slips on top of course too.

few things after trying this build that really need to be said: 1) you can run 6 sprinklers off 1 water purifier, but you cant just run them in one straight line or you drown 1st block and parch 3rd block with pressure drop off. this holds true for setups without a purifier. i reran lines so water goes to sprinklers in the 3-2x3 farm blocks from closest to farthest from purifier 1-6; 3-5; 2-4. you are still going to be hand watering either way to balance beds. plan on adding 2 large water collectors, at 4-8 watering cans and 4-6 water storage tanks. 2) 1 large battery isnt enough to run 3 pumps, 3 heaters, purifier, grow lights and additional base lights so you can see. for 3 or 4 2x3 blocks, plan on a windmill, a large battery for the grow stuff, and add a med/small battery, and 1-4 solar panels for lights and other elec usage around the base. you can get away with 1 large battery if you use 2 dozen tuna can lights or dont mind not being able to what you are doing half the day. given all this, the base really needs to be redesigned for a purifier setup so you can fit 3-2x3 beds on one floor and i recommend strengthened windows instead of solid walls all around for additional light for working. since i am hand watering anyway, i made a 4x6 base with 4-2x3 blocks and the 4th 2x3 block i just hand water if i need to use it. add a pump room and tc/storage wherever it fits the terrain.
@Koubles3 жыл бұрын
I don't understand what you mean by pressure drop off. Sprinklers consume a set amount of water per minute right? You just need to hose them up so that they aren't pumping upwards except for right out of the purifier.
@jc62263 жыл бұрын
@@Koubles after the water is consumed, there is that much less water available for the next sprinkler, and so on, so theoretically you can have 6. however, what people forget is that the quantity of water in the line represents pressure as well as flow in the game code (just like irl). there is no other explanation i can think of, because ive done a number of different setups and the sprinklers at the end always put out less water than the inital sprinklers. p.s. mostly i was mono-cropping hemp clones to sell for scrap, so there is no genetic variation in plant water usage. The inital boxes stay at 9000 and i have to hand water each box to a greater extent than previous boxes as i move to the end of the sprinkler run. everytime. no matter the setup or water source.

This is literally the best video on the subject. The sprinkler placement on the walls covering 3 beds changed my life. Note though that if you have another 2x3 across from one, the wall sprinklers will reach across and cover 6 beds so you'll need to separate each 2x3 along the 3 tile side with at least a half wall, otherwise those beds are only going to get 3-4 water per tick instead of 5. All those other guides with ceiling sprinklers are garbage to me now. And your tip about the heaters covering two floors... genius. Nothing about farming except something about what to do if you don't have 4 pumps yet which he said very quickly while referring to some other mechanic and then undid part of the base after he said it before moving on back to 2x3 design class. Of course, then he tells you he made a mistake, so if you were following the video you're probably shit out of luck because you wont be able to demolish that now, and at 12 minutes he told me I wont get the information I came here for. This is a very specific farm base design guide video, not a farming video.

With salt water 2 pumps for a 2x6 or 4x3 (12 tile farm) is already overkill. Is there a reason why you use 2x3 farm blocks over 2x2? I find it easier to work in squares, personally. Also, I generally don't plant on the first floor of my base and prefer that for living area/ storage/ crafting areas. One thing I do which I've found to be very useful is to build my base around where my pumps are and keep my foundation high enough that I can use a floor square to cover them up, which hides and protects them, without sacrificing usable floor space. That said, I also don't have a base solely for farming. I usually farm, as well as craft guns/ ammo/ explosives as well as needing plenty of storage for stone that I sell. Depending on their rarity on the particular server you're on, one of the first big purchases I go for, is a stone quarry and if possible, a pump jack as well. This allows me, as a solo, to more or less corner the market on... basically the entire supply chain on the server. Granted, I generally play on PvE servers, so the risk of getting raided is very low, so this technique might not be applicable on vanilla servers, but I wanted to share my alternative set up.
@tamura77Rust3 жыл бұрын
2x3 is more efficient for sprinklers and lights per planter box. But use what ever suits.
@michaelgoldsmith6353 жыл бұрын
@@tamura77Rust I sometimes run into issues where even my sprinklers for a 2x2 don't provide quite enough water and I occasionally need to manually water a bit here or there so maybe I'm missing something here as I'm not seeing how sprinklers can keep up with a 2x3 if they can't keep up with a 2x2. My default farm base is a 5x8 keeping a center aisle open with two water barrels at one end (each runs one side of the sprinkler system for that floor), and a shelving unit of storage boxes at the other, with an elevator dead center, per floor. I suppose that I'm playing on servers where efficiency isn't THAT big of an concern. I run 1 sprinkler dead center of a 2x2 and 1 hanging light over each box. That's probably a little overkill for lights, but it keeps my OCD happy. We also have test gens on my server, so my only issue with power is dropping the couple hundred scrap at the admin store for another test gen if I absolutely need it. I light my base up like it's Vegas (I'm old and have a crap graphics card, so I have a bit of trouble seeing in the dark) and I've never really needed more than 2 gens. That said, I'm more or less a solo so I generally don't need more than 1 grow room floor to generate more scrap than I'll ever need, but if I had a larger clan with more overhead, it's easily scalable by adding another floor.

Do you have any advice on how to price the teas scrap wise?
@tamura77Rust3 жыл бұрын
No, as its dependant on servers, advice would be to sell tea at half the rate of what they could get with it. Eg pure wood tea for 15k wood would benefit both parties
@fawazdabas81243 жыл бұрын
I play on a sc official server as a solo. My pure ore tea sells out regularly at 50- 75 scrap each. I adjust the prices daily based on supply and demand. All the other teas hardly ever sell. I also trade pure ore tea for tech trash 1:1 and gears 10:1. As well as just about anything else i need

how much scrap do you get from this?

@hightechrednack97303 жыл бұрын
@Tamura77 how much do you sell your teas for normally?
@tamura77Rust3 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the server, map wipe, average size of groups, populations etc. I would recommend selling it for 20-50% of the value one would normally get from it. eg. someone might pay 10k wood for a wood tea because they would then be able to farm for 10mins with chainsaw and get 50k wood Find a starting price, make it drone accessible then advertise in all chat, wait a bit and lower if needed.

@tamura77Rust3 жыл бұрын
idk about that one, but I know the bug where sprinklers will have water coming out of them visually but not actually. This usually happens when you have a chain of more than 6 sprinklers, or via use of a fluid switch/pump
@Squancheeb3 жыл бұрын
Ohhh..... that might be it. I’m on a modded server. Using a fuel tank as a water reservoir. Output says (500) which i hooked up to a switch pump then to sprinklers
@realfranny34833 жыл бұрын
You explain a lot of stuff in great detail that is kinda obvious to an experienced player, but the information that I was looking for - best layout for and reasoning behind sprinkler/light placement - is not to be found.
@tamura77Rust3 жыл бұрын
plants need 3.75ml of water per 5s, one sprinkler outputs 15ml per 5s. Water get divided and rounded down so the most efficient setup to reach 4ml is dividing it my 3, giving 5ml each. Or you can divide by 6, giving 2, so 2 sprinklers between 6 gives 4, or 1 between 3 gives 5. Either way you're getting enough. I prefer 2 between 6 because the over watering is less, and you can manually maintain 100% very easily. Lights are also efficient in a 2x3 because 2 reaches 6. The only other configuration to efficiently use sets of 3 is a 3x3 which can work, but the lighting is slightly less efficient. This setup is the best combination of efficiency, simplicity and scalability IMO. The 3x3 with half walls is slightly more efficient, but I rate the simplicity for my subscribers slightly higher than the minimal efficiency gain. If you want to checkout other builds and use them, feel free. I have explained the water efficiency in multiple videos but you'd have to go back quite far to find info on the lighting efficiencies which I have mentioned. All this info is known by experienced farmers and for things like this come chat with other like minded people on my discord.
