Thanks for this video. I'm glad to see how it works and that a lot of material isn't wasted on housing. Over the past four years I've purchased two of the washer/spinner combination units and one side or the other malfunctioned after about a year. I decided to purchase two separate units for washing and spinning. This will be my washer. If I do small loads, I should only have to visit the laundromat to do big items.

Don't get me wrong.. i think this is a really cool machine... i am a big fan of these portable washers in general.. you'll sometimes find interesting designs like this one . And the way they wash is kind of like a through back to the way it was years ago.. Simple, you're in full control of your washing and some of these machines wash clothes a lot the way the older washing machines used to. But i do have one question though... I just have to wonder... How many house guests have accidentally mistaked this machine for a garbage can... lol just kidding... I'm not knocking it ... I actually really like this appliance.. its really cool

When I called the Laundry Alternative, I was told in October it was going to be there, but its November and its not there, when I went to into their website I bought the Super Compact Automatic Washer Second Generation - SCAW2GEN $199.00 Its 1 cu. ft, It fits 4 regular bath towel and 2 hand towels . it comes with the connectors ready to use just remove the aerator from the facet. I does wash and spin dry all in one. It fits 7 or 8 garments depend of the thickening of the clothes. Very quiet and I can store it in the closet. It pays for it-self. I save gas money ans I save money from the laundry machine. I'm happy with it.

I hope to never go to a laundromat again after pulling clothes out of the dryer and discovering bed bugs. They were dead, but I re-washed and dried everything again... then I left my laundry in my car trunk until I absolutely needed it, for fear there were bed bugs in it.

This is similar to the old Maytag wringer washing machines. You should try to add a hand cranked wringer to the machine for people that can't squeeze the water out by hand. I think if you had two of these machine and two wringers that would be awesome. One machine to wash, then wring most of the soapy water out, dump into the second machine for a rinse, and then wring again. If there is a second load use the rinse water from the first load to wash in and get clean water for your rinse, this would save some water.
@thomfoz
@thomfoz 7 жыл бұрын
I'd love to, however, it's legally forbidden to have whatever kind of wringer (even hand cranked) on washing machines in the USA.
@MrsMika
@MrsMika 7 жыл бұрын
If you make top of the sides flat then people could attach an after marker wringer bought from Lehmans Hardware store or ebay. If you make another video you should talk about how much water is used, and what is the amount of electricity the unit uses, does low water perssure effect this unit? Could you fill this unit up using buckets of water if there is no running water on the premises? This looks like a great product for people trying to live off grid, or are living in travel trailers.

There is no reason you couldn't fill it to the top, less two inches, right? So you could do a much bigger load. But my concern with this machine is it only agitates in one direction, so the clothes are going to get very tangled.
@lilflower25
@lilflower25 8 жыл бұрын
Yuppers. Any washer that doesn't have a center agitator is going to tangle the clothes. I've been through so many of them and my clothes got tangled and ruined.
@thomfoz
@thomfoz 8 жыл бұрын
THat's not the case with the SuperPop. It tangles a little bit, but not enough to make knots and ruin the clothes. because the tub design is made to untangle.
@goldbergje
@goldbergje 8 жыл бұрын
Some tangling will occur, especially with four or five button-up shirts washed together. HOWEVER: the agitation action of the Super Pop is strong yet gentle, and any tangling that occurs has not damaged my clothes. One way to circumvent this is to mix what you put in the washer; for example, a pair of dockers with a few pair of underclothes and socks, and a shirt or two. I believe that cuts down on the tangling.

@@thomfoz Yeah, I wouldn't want to wear clothes or use rags or towels that were washed in dirty water. 🤢
@thomfoz
@thomfoz 5 жыл бұрын
@@joco885 That's not "dirty" water. Nowadays, because of the "yuck" factor, most people end up wasting detergent and draining suds that were good enough for other 2 loads (never more than that). Whatever person that used a wringer washer knows what I mean. You sort the clothes and go washing from lighter to darker and less soiled to more soiled loads. You fill the washer with hot water, then first do the whites (whites are usually less soiled). after that, you switch the load keeping the water and wash the light colors. At this point the water cooled down and it's warm, perfect for colors. Of course you have to monitor the suds. You may need to add a bit more detergent for each load or, if the load was really dirty, then the water will look nasty, of course in this case you have to change the water. After all done you can start rinsing. Doing that you cut your water usage and detergent by 66%. It means a lot of money saved in one year. Decades ago, some automatic washers used to have the "Suds saver" feature, that would store the wash water in a laundry sink, drain the rinse water in a stand pipe and then suck the suds back to the washer for the next load. Unfortunately this feature is long gone because most modern homes don't have laundry sinks. And not less important. The wash is the portion of a wash cycle that dissolves and suspends the dirt, but the wash doesnt "remove" the dirt. The rinse is responsible for effectively diluting removing the dirt. Rinsing properly is as important as using a good quality detergent and proper laundry additives for each fabric or stain type. That's why the so called "high efficiency" washers have that horrible performance many people complain about. They save water by sacrificing the rinse. Can you really believe 20 lbs of clothes are properly rinsed with only 1 gal of water sprayed on the clothes without an immersion rinse?

Mark, you say probably based on your life experience (probably never went beyond an automatic washer). I designed this washer. What you see as something negative, is exactly the feature many people love. There are endless reasons why people PREFER washing machines that don't spin. And price is just one of those. And a big bucket would just be a bucket. it wouldn't agitate. If we follow your theory, why a bucket? there's the bathtub or the kitchen sink.... now agitate the clothes in a bucket for 15 minutes non stop and make them clean....

Patricia, this washer actually saves water, if you know how to do it... Not everybody can afford a fully automatic washer or has the space to have a washer permanently hooked up. This WAS a great alternative for those who need to wash tons of clothes and can't rely on super compact fully automatic washers like the Silk Lux, mostly because live in RVs or off grid (and most portable solar generators can't generate electricity enough for a fully automatic washer). The washer not being suitable for YOUR needs doesn't mean it's a bad product.

However you have people talking about they reach out to the company to get a replacement and 2-3 weeks later and they dont hear from you guys. Thanks for your message. No, I don't own the company. The company had some issues on the past with a 3rd party "call center". In order to fix that, now only two persons take care of the customer service. The CEO and the Product Design Manager (me). The new SuperPop will arrive in September with all those issues solved. A huge issue we had wasn't the product itself, but the way FedEx was being "gentle" with the boxes and the washers arrived broken at the customer's house. All of them were immediately replaced by brand new units and all the products are covered by a 3-year "hassle-free" warranty.

This model was discontinued. The New SuperPop is smaller, to save space, and it has a bigger capacity, It will be released in a few months.

Thanks for your opinion. I've made the video long because many people ask me to show the whole cycle. There are also shorter versions with the key features.

If you have limited space, then it's a great idea. You have a capacity similar to a full size washer, but without all that weight, so you can more both washer and a spin dryer and store them in a closet, for example, when not in use. You can't move a full size automatic washer to the sink every time you're going to use it.
