This may be the most important passage to those who say that all followers of Jesus should be obeying the Law of Moses (sometimes called the Hebrew Roots movement). To be honest, I really can understand why they interpret it that way, even though I disagree. This video will analyze Matthew 5:17-19 and Matthew 28:20 as they relate to the Hebrew Roots teaching as well as looking at some other often misunderstood things about the Law of Moses.
Next week I will pick up where I've left off this week and cover more content from the New Testament on the topic of whether Christians are under the Law.
Here’s the first video in this series on the Hebrew Roots movement. • I've Been Looking Into...

Mike Winger keep standing strong brother because here comes everybody out of the woodworks trying to get us to follow the old laws that were meant for a bunch of disobedient Jews. Despite all their miracles (ie: a supernatural rescue from Egypt, pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night, Manna falling from the sky daily, etc.), they still bust out the ole golden calf the second Moses steps away for a minute. God kept having to lay down law after law to get their disobedient butts in line. Tell me why now must I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior PLUS do all the stuff the old Jews were doing. The very nature of telling me that I have to do BOTH takes away from the ultimate purpose of the Lamb who was slain!!! Satan is definitively behind this Hebrew Roots movement because only Satan would try to use the Bible to make claim that Jesus wasn’t enough. Let us remember what Jesus told the priest and elders who followed the old Jewish law to the T. He said, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.” Mic drop.

Please answer these question by the word of the God of Israel : 1. What was the covenant at Mount Sinai ( ten commandments , statutes and judgments ) ? 2. Who is the covenant between at Mount Sinai ( God the Father and the children of Israel ) ? 3. Who was the mediator of the covenant at Mount Sinai ( Moses ) , and who is the mediator of the covenant now ( Jesus Christ ) ? 4. Did the Father accept the Strangers into this covenant ( Exodus 12:49 One law shall be to him that is homeborn , and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you ; Isaiah 56:6-7 Also the sons of the stranger , that join themselves to the LORD , to serve him , and to love the name of the LORD , to be his servants , every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it , and taketh hold of my covenant ; Even them will I bring to my holy mountain , and make them joyful in my house of prayer : their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar ; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people ; Ephesians 2:11-22 ) ? 5. What is the function of the mediator ( Moses was the husband/protection/covering for the children of Israel when they break the laws of God ( ten commandments , statutes and judgments ) ; and he did it through the Leviticus priesthood - the law of Moses or the law of animal sacrifice for sin - circumcision made by hands - the priests - the law of works ) : ( Jesus Christ is now the husband/protection/covering for the children of Israel when they break the laws of God ( ten commandments , statutes and judgments ) ; and this is by grace ( free gift - his blood ) through faith ( Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing , and hearing by the word of God . You must serve this mediator by faith , repent of your sins by starting to keep the word of God - this is through the priesthood of faith - Melchisedec - the law of faith ) . The Father made the covenant , the mediators intercede between the two parties in the covenant . 6. Does the Father change ( Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD , I change not ; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed ) ? 7. Was the Strangers/Gentiles mention in the promise of God ( Genesis 12:1-3 , Genesis 13:16 , Genesis 15:4-6 , Genesis 17:10-14 , Genesis 22:15-18 , Exodus 20:8-11 , Jeremiah 12:14-17 , Isaiah 2:1-4 , Micah 4:1-3 , Zechariah 2:1-13 , Romans 2:11-15 , 1st Corinthians 9:19-21, Revelation 14:12 ) ? The church is the covenant between the God of Israel and the children of Israel . The God of Israel is no respecter of persons , but he that feareth God and worketh righteousness , he accepts , but only the children of Israel has made a covenant with God ( Romans 2: 12-15 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law : and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law ; ( For not the hearers of the law are just before God , but the doers of the law shall be justified . For when the Gentiles which have not the law , do by nature the things contained in the law , these having not the law are a law unto themselves : which shew the work of the law written in their conscience also bearing witness , and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another ) . People fail to understand that all of the God of Israel commandments are laws , not just the ten commandments ; when God told Adam not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil , that was a law . The ten commandments , statutes and judgments to define the ten commandments given to the children of Israel at Mount Sinai are the laws of God , not Moses . The law of Moses was the law of animal sacrifice and oblations for sin ( remember he is the husband/protection for the people ) ; the law of works ( Romans 3:27 ) . The law of Jesus Christ is the grace ( free gift - his blood ) through faith ( believing , by starting to keep the word of God ) - the law of faith ( Roman 3:28 ) . In Galatians 3:19 , when Paul said the law was added because of transgressions , we must understand what is transgressions ( 1st John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law : for sin is the transgression of the law ) ; so are you saying that the law of God was added because they were breaking the laws of God ; that's an error . The correct statement is : the law of animal sacrifice was added , because they were breaking the laws of God . We are to keep the commandments of the Father , through the faith of the Son ( Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints : here are they that keep the commandments of God , and the faith of Jesus ) . All laws come from the God of Israel , and they are holy and righteous ( He is a righteous/holy God ) ; His covenants are laws , and they are eternal ; He identify what his laws pertains to , all has a purpose . When the covenant people ( children of Israel ) begin to violate the laws given to them ( remember the wages of sin is death ) ; through their husband/protector/mediator Moses , he gave them the sin sacrifice of the flesh ( circumcision made by hands , or the law of animal sacrifice , or the law of Moses ) ; to kept God from killing their body ; not for the forgiveness of the heart/mind/conscience/spirit ; because to serve and obey God , you must live by faith ( repent of your sins with a sorrowful heart , and start believing God by obedience ) . The law of Christ is the sin sacrifice of faith ; because Jesus obeyed the Father's laws completely ( no sins , no death ) ; so he died not for himself , but for all who live by faith through their new husband of faith ( Christ ) ; not by their old husband of works ( Moses ) . The laws of the Father never changed ; Moses gave the children of Israel , the laws of God on tables of stone , and written in ink in the book of the covenant , but the people did not believe ( obedience by obeying his laws ) : While Jesus Christ put the laws of God in our hearts/mind/conscience/spirit ; because you cannot come under this mediator blood , until you start believing his word that he received from the Father ( Deuteronomy 18:15-19 , " The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee , of thy brethren , like unto me ; unto him ye shall hearken ; According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly , saying , Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God , neither let me see this great fire anymore , that I die not . And the LORD said unto me , They have well spoken that which they have spoken . I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren , like unto thee , and I will put my words in his mouth ; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him . And it shall come to pass , that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name , I will require it of him " ) . In Matthew 5:17-19 , Jesus said that he came not to destroy the law or the Prophets , but he came to fulfill the law and the Prophets . He also stated that till heaven and earth pass away , one jot or one tittle of the law will in do wise pass frm the law , until all is fulfilled . Is all fulfilled of the law ? NO ! ( Isaiah 66:15-17 , " For , behold , the LORD will come with fire , and with his chariots like a whirlwind , to render his anger with fury , and his rebuke with flames of fire . For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh : and the slain of the LORD shall be many . They that sanctify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst , eating swine's flesh , and the abomination , and the mouse , shall be consumed together , saith the LORD " ) . Heaven and earth is still here , and all has not been fulfilled ; so the law remains the same . Jesus later explained the statement he made in Matthew 5:17-19 , in Luke 24:44-45 , after his resurrection ( Luke 24:44-45 , " And he said unto them , These are the words which I spake unto you , while I was yet with you , that all things must be fulfilled , which were written in the law of Moses , and in the Prophets , and in the Psalms , concerning me . Then opened he their understanding , that they might understand the scriptures " ) . Finally , Jesus Christ came in the flesh for two major reasons : 1. To be an atonement for our sins , and 2. Completion of the words of the Father , to get eternal life . Question , Did Adam have eternal life in the garden of Eden , or was he learning how to get it from the tree of life ? Answer , he was learning before he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil ; so why are we not required to keep the laws of God now ? Jesus Christ has redeemed or justified us back to the time of Adam , before he transgressed the laws of God . We have never heard the Father's voice , or seen his shape at any time ; so the same one that was instructing Adam , is the same one that came in the flesh . When Adam violated his instruction , or the Father's commandments , or law , he fell into sin ; likewise , when we disobey the Father's commandments that Jesus gives us , we fall into sin ( 1st John 2::1-7 ) . Jesus said it best : Matthew 24:13 , " But he that shall endure unto the end , the same shall be saved " ; until your death or the return of the Messiah . Shalom !

Gentiles were never obligated to keep all of the Laws given at Sinai. They were obligated to keep 6 Laws before the flood, with a new category (no animal cruelty) being given to Noah in Gen 9. The Noahide Covenant. These 7 categories of Law are for every human being. The first is No Idolatry. Yet you guys break the very first Law. The Creator refers to his covenant with Noah as “an everlasting covenant” which means it is eternal. It has no end. Was G-d lying? It became ok to worship a man as G-d, or his son, just like the Greek pagans (and many other wiped out civilizations) in your “new covenant”? No thanks. And I hope you will start reading he Bible in page 1 like every other book in the world. You might as well believe in Zeus and his kids with human mothers. God made other covenants but none of them ever said it was ok to break the original Noahide Covenant. And idolatry is the thing that the Creator hates the most. Not to mention jc doesn’t fit the criteria of the Messiah. Look at the list! That’s why they made up the concept of a second coming, which has no biblical basis.

Minute Ministry Gentiles were never expected to keep the Laws given at Sinai. They are bound by the 6 Laws given before the flood and the one about animal cruelty given to Noah after the flood. 7 Laws total which make up the “everlasting/eternal covenant” The Creator made with Noah and every human being on Earth to this day. No idol worship. No blasphemy. No sexual immorality, no theft, no murder, no animal abuse, create courts of justice. Notice how none of the covenants made later in the Bible say it’s ok to break any of those laws. And they still stand today. Except the Christians and their new Greek pagan covenant which says idol worship is ok now. Apparently they think the creator of the u inverse was lying when he said it was is “an eternal covenant”.

Lea Paton thank you this information. I didn’t realize that the Hebrew Roots movement was against the worship of Jesus because He is not God the Father. Interesting. I’m learning all sorts of stuff. However, I will have to kindly disagree because I do believe that we are supposed to worship the Son of God as I stated in another comment string to you.

Purpose: disobedience 2) Lying prophet vs real prophet 1 King 13 Strategy: Make you think God changed his mind v18 “I too am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying, ‘Bring him back with you to your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.’ ” (He was lying to him.) Purpose: disobedience This one showed the BEST RESULTS for christianity 3) Sathan vs Jesus Matt 4 Strategy: Use one part of the Scriptures to make you disobey other "IT IS WRITTEN" v5 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ Purpose: Disobedience This is the one we live at the momento. PAUL SAID..... Apostles said in Act 15.... Even preachers and teachers like this, with a very good ellaborated doctrine. and even if they did.... I´d take the apostles advice Acts 5:29 New King James Version 29 But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men. If the doctrine you are hearing result in disobedience, I may consider is not God behind it... Blessings and may the Lord brin clarity

Essentially it comes down to what is sin. The scripture says sin is the transgressing of the law. Which law? The HR people interpret scripture differently than most modern denominations, and I would say they make compelling cases. Is it still sin to break God’s commandments? When did the scripture say that the law is done away with?

This example is misleading. It’s more like you committed a crime or slavery, born to serving the sentence. Jesus provided the rest of the story of law as well as providing the means to put an end to future slavery. Like do you have all the books in a popular series? If you don’t have the final book you’re still left wondering. If your order came in 3 shipments, your order isn’t fulfilled until you get all three boxes. But the boxes (the law of the prophets) aren’t taken from you, you now have everything you need. If it was done away with, you’d have no sin, no reason for Jesus, if there’s no law, we can’t see how much isn’t unattainable for us and then know we need God to provide the solution. It has to remain otherwise the cross is for nothing.

Rebecca S. You’re saying things that are true, but unrelated to the specific issue. The issue is wheteher we’re in debt to the Law once we’re in Christ. The debt’s been fully paid. But the Law still has a place, especially for the unbeliever, in convicting of sin. The Law leads us to Christ. “We know that the Law is good, if one uses it properly.” “The Law has become our guardian to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. Right now that Faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian. For you are all sons and daughters of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”

And I've alredy seen how Mike Winger Twisted the words of the scriptures, and gives what he thinks is the meaning of the words in his own opinion, as if his opinion were authority over the meaning of the scriptures themselves. This is what humans have done with the word of God, Not only gentiles but also prophets and scribs, etc. Showing just natural human condition when they find something they are not willing to obey. Humans will twist, alter, water down, and manipulate the meaning of the instructions of GOD to their own understanding and personal interst, but will not seek GOD'S GIVEN porpose and meaning for his word from GOD'S owns understanding, Which we can find written in the whole bible. I think you are missing a very key point to Matthew 5:18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. “Till heaven and earth pass away”, where do we see these words spoken again? Revelation 21:1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. “ for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away.” Therefore the law is still relevant today and is not fulfilled until Christs judgement. People need to test everything against the scriptures and not because man tells them what to think and believe.

@@Jinkypigs How brotherly of you calling me an idiot. I wonder what YHWH thinks about that? Now as for Peter’s vision of unclean food, Jesus did not die on the cross to make all things clean. Remember Peter was instructed 3 times to rise, kill and eat to which Peter retorts,” By no means, LORD; for I have never eaten anything common or unclean”. This is followed by YHWH saying, “ What YHWH has cleansed call it not common”. At the time Peter doubted himself as to the meaning of the vision. Now this is important, Cornelius sent 3 men to call on Peter. Peter as all Jews of the time considered gentiles to be common and unclean. After Peter went to Joppa and met with Cornelius who was a Roman centurion, he understood the visions meaning. Peter said this, “ You know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath showed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.” Call any man common or unclean, this is about humans and not about unclean animals or creeping things now becoming clean and considered food. Much love and blessings.

@@rocco9611. That is complete rubish and a twisting of the text to make Dr. Kellogg your master. Peter argues he has never eaten unclean things and has been kosher his entire life. You twist the table cloth filled with unclean food into not associating with Gentiles. That's pathetic but GOD saw your antichrist cult coming along time ago. The table cloth with unclean things comes down and JESUS commands Peter to kill and eat. Your rubbish would be CHRIST commanding Peter to kill Cornelus than eat his flesh. See how your lies turn grotesqe when you apply Ellen's lies to the text. Anyways, HE saw your lesser light and gave us Acts 11:2. More than two witnesses testified Peter did eat non-kosher unclean creepy things. End of argument. While were in Acts 10 your antichrist cult say baptism first then the HOLY SPIRIT will enter us. Your cult also forbids water until a new believer accepts EGW and the 28 articals. The Cornelius group were anready SPIRIT filled before water baptism. Your inspired lesser light got it wrong. She was pathetic in the WORD and was commanded to learn in silence, seek her husband to teach her and never usurp a man's authority. Your cult is in disobedience to GOD by giving her all authority even over your male scholars who disagreed and voiced their truth only to be fired and excommunicated. very common cult tactic.

Hi there TP. If we are truly in Christ then we can call ourselves followers. Jesus very early on in his ministry stated that he hadn't come to do away with the law or the prophets and that anyone who broke even the least of the commandments and taught others to do so would be the least in the kingdom of God. You probably go to a church that teaches that Paul claims the law was done away with. Surely according to Jesus own words, this would make Paul one of the least in the kingdom. So by extension why would you follow Pauls teachings and not Jesus's? the following verse is worth pondering Matt 5:17-19 Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfil. 18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished. 19Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

I understand that “To fulfil and abolish the law” was rabbinic augmentation back in the day (David Biven, ‘understanding the difficult words of Jesus’) And basically He was saying, ‘I did not come to misinterpret the law, (destroy) but to interpret (fulfil) it correctly.” Obviously when He chastised the Pharisees’ manmade traditions he accused them of abolishing Gods commands in favor of their traditions.

@@thedisciple5115 I always think of Matthew 7:21-23 for these people. It's so weird. I remember from a pastor who preached that some christians now "believe in Jesus, but live like demons". Altogether, the bible even says sin is the transgression of the Law of God right? In other words, lawlessness. So then why that now we are in Christ, we become more lawless than we were back when we were following our flesh? I think the problem is, people don't understand the Law and Covenants. They also don't understand the purpose of the priesthood and the High Priest most especially. And above all, these commandments of God are just holding them back from their fleshy desires. I asked God for clarity and I ended up getting this in my suggestion to watch and I read Galatians where Paul talks about the law. I know God brought me to you and choosing to read Galatians. Your thoughtfulness in this has helped except the freedom of Christ.

Excited for you on your journey of learning and trusting God! In all these things about the laws, just remember that we can never be righteous because of anything we could ever do. God gives us grace and salvation, a gift from him that we could never earn. We do not have to follow specific laws in order to receive salvation. But we have been given ways to live and examples throughout the bible of how to live well to honor God, and some of these laws can help us follow him and know him better. For example, keeping a weekly Sabbath could never give us salvation, because we have already received that through Christ, but it is a free gift to set our lives in the weekly rhythm he created, to pause our business and rest in his peace. The other 9 commandments are more obvious. When people get caught up on exactly how we are supposed to live, it often gets really legalistic, like they're forgetting we don't have to earn salvation. We GET TO live our lives with Christ and lean on him for everything. So if you're getting confused hearing someone's teaching on laws, just remember they were given to us to help us honor God and lean on him. We have the gift of the holy spirit to help us discern these things, and I doubt any one of us has it all figured out. If you feel like some teaching is off, either it is or you're wrong - pray about it, talk to friends, pray for the holy spirit to lead you to how God wants you to follow him. Many Catholics are saved, many charismatics are saved...there are so many ways to practice your faith and honor God. Enjoy your journey! I love learning more every day. Also, I just heard this - how to pray? Lots of us christians jump into asking for things. Ok. Don't we want a relationship with Jesus? I want to know him more. When I have a friend or spouse, I want to know that person, maybe I'll ask for help, but I want more than anything to know them. I've recently thought about that and started praying more like that, it's interesting. I feel such a yearning to know God and, like, be friends. Anyway, I just got excited to see you're new in believing so I had to share. 🙄

All is fulfilled at His second coming, not His death at the cross. Jesus came to become our High Priest and to be our last sacrifice in preparation for His second coming. Hebrews 10:5-10 Therefore, when Christ enters into the world, He says, “Sacrifice and offering You have not desired, But [instead] You have prepared a body for Me [to offer]; In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You have taken no delight. “Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come To do Your will, O God- [To fulfill] what is written of Me in the scroll of the book.’” After saying [in the citation] above, “You have neither desired, nor have You taken delight in sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin” (which are offered according to the Law) then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will.” [And so] He does away with the first [covenant as a means of atoning for sin based on animal sacrifices] so that He may inaugurate and establish the second [covenant by means of obedience]. And in accordance with this will [of God] we [who believe in the message of salvation] have been sanctified [that is, set apart as holy for God and His purposes] through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed) once for all. Hebrews is really misunderstood when it's says the first covenant is growing old and ready to disappear. Nothing is done away with yet, not until revelation 21 1-4 has happened. That verse tells us that at the new heaven and earth the former order of life (the Law) has passed, which reflects Matthew 5 saying that the heaven and earth would pass before anything passes from the Law.

Hi Mike, I would like to re-extend my invite to you to come on my channel (or I can guest appear on your channel - either way) for a discussion about the Law of God. We can discuss the larger over-arching context of what YHWH defines as His Law and what the disciples taught about it in their epistles. I appreciate your conviction and what you're hoping to present, but there are some rather large ideas you've not addressed in this livestream tonight. I will be glad to comment (and more importantly exegete from the Torah) on Hebrews chapter 8-11 with you. I'm willing to discuss your main points with you as I've already offered in my initial FB message to you last month. Obviously, the comment section on your video isn't the appropriate place for it, but thankfully we both have channel's for our viewers to be edified. I watch your translation videos bc I do translation work. I'm also a synagogue president. I'm not going to give an opinion on Christian theology, but will say we get Hebrew roots people coming in wanting to convert on a nearly annual basis. We're always happy to accept people, but they are usually sad folks who've estranged themselves from their families and are coming to us bc of tortured logical twists rather than any real knowledge of the Jewish faith. My standing order to our congregational rabbi is, for pastoral reasons, before embarking on any conversion program, to ask them to read books on Christian history that walk them from the apostles to the apostolic fathers to the church fathers showing who's who's student so they see there's no mysterious break in history where the Church ceased being Jewish and became Paganized, which is one of their beliefs. Otherwise they end up shattered people stuck in a religion they don't really want to be part of bc they felt another religion wanted them to do that. It's a disaster.

That is well and thoughtfully said. While as a Christian, I pray that our Hebrew brothers come to believe that Jesus Christ is the true Messiah, I understand that this is something that they must be led to by the Spirit of God. I feel very sorry for the HRM people, it does seem they have been drawn into error. And while I know that many leave the faith of Christ and convert to Judaism, I don't think that will solve anything. To a Christian, all of the scriptures point clearly to the truth of the Lord Jesus the Christ and the truth of His plain and simple Gospel of salvation through faith in His atonement for our sins. So simple that a child can understand it, yet so profound that it can be examined by the wise and serve to strengthen their faith. I thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness to these poor people, and pray that you also may come to know Jesus. 🙏✝️👑🙏

I think that one of the biggest error that believers who reject the Law make is that they misunderstand the Hebrew words for: olah - translated as burnt instead of ascent korban - translated as offering instead of approach mincha - translated as grain instead of present kippur - translated as atonement instead of covering moed - translated as feast instead of appointment shema - translated as hear (or more often as obey) instead of listen intently with understanding in order to give a considered response shemar - translated as keep (as in observe or obey) instead of guard and protect If we believe that a burnt offering (olah korban) is a slaughtered animal, we have completed misunderstood what is meant by an ascent approach. The ascent is to go up before God and the approach is a specific way to do so like an approach to an airport runway. If you miss the approach, you will miss the runway. I think all God-fearing believers will admit that drawing close to God is still in effect. So the problem arises in the approach. Again, if we think that the blood of bulls or goats is sufficient to remove sin, we are in error. Only through the blood of Jesus shall we ascend unto Him. Before Jesus made the kippur (the sinless act that binds us with God as bitumen or asphalt binds to whatever it is placed on), believers could only look forward to that day. The slaughtering of the animals most closely represented what God would do through Jesus on the cross. After the crucifixion, the approach is still through the blood of Jesus. And that is why we do not slaughter animals, but we still attend to an ascent approach. This is not trivial. I know it sounds like I am picking and choosing which commands to follow, adhering to the word in Hebrews 8-9 in regard to the blood, but that is because our part in the covenant was never about the slaughter of animals. It was only about the ascent approach. We still have an ascent approach and it is still only through Jesus and His blood. We are told that if we love Jesus, we are to "obey" His commandments in John 14:15 that is congruent with shemar shema as we read in Deuteronomy 12:28. Believers say that it only refers to the 2 greatest commandments or maybe 9 of the 10 commandments (accurately translated as words). However, we do not have to rescind the Older Testament if we properly translate that to mean "to guard and protect" His commandments (or words). The prescribed ways that pre-crucifixion believers listened intently with understanding was to try to see how killing of an innocent animal could bind them to God. Our observance of His appointments (moedim) is a blessing when we see all that He has done and all that He promises to do that is best represented by the Feast of Tabernacles (sukkot) such as bringing a new (8th) day (shemini atzeret) after our temporary dwellings (sukkot) are worn out. Believers who reject guarding and protecting the instructions of Torah because they think that it is "Law" that comes with commands and penalties misunderstand that Torah is simply instructions to help us live a life that is pleasing to God by listening intently with understanding to His words and giving a considered response.

I have found this topic a non stop search among others also. When we read scripture like these saying things like my law will be in their hearts and minds or within his people, or that we must worship in spirit and truth, and since the law is referred to as the truth, it is sure we are at least under some sort of law of the Most High. One terrifying scripture could be "depart from me you who work iniquity or lawlessness". I spirituality have found comfort in that I have found myself and others in a constant search for what is the law or even better what is it that our Lord expects of us. In the true desire to please the one true God, this devotion should turn into a lifelong, maybe you could say quest or search, of Scriptures other people's and our own Revelation, testing spirits, non stop prayer and fasting and studying to show thyself approved, improving the walk, and keeping the greatest of the commands (loving God and thy neighbor)causes those who truly seek to grow closer to an answer may find even better, a relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to where his sheep will begin to actually hear his voice and become his "friends" John 15:14 for keeping his commands and acting in Faith. It is truly amazing to see the hearts of his children seeking him, because he called us first. My advise simply would be do more if you possibly can and seek his face with all you have, lose your life for his namesake, and remember other brothers and sisters may be at a different place than us but we all make up one body, so love and encourage each other as Christ did and does for us. Our Father has always wanted a people who seek to be his people and he will be our God. Love the Lord God with all your heart, mind, body, and spirit, all the rest will follow. Much love to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Be strong and of good courage!

I know this is an old comment, but I have a few tears from it. So well said. I recently started down the path of Hebrew Roots, and was really getting deep into their teaching, all out of the desire to obey God and draw closer to Him. It seems to me that any way that the world is going is the opposite direction that we should be going, so the whole "set apart" theme of their teaching struck home. However, it has caused me a touch of inner turmoil with feelings I have toward other Christians who don't agree, and that can't be right. The heart of Christ would have me feel love, not feelings of lofty spirituality above others. I then saw a video discussing the core beliefs of 119 and possible Unitarianism, and here I am back with Mike Winger 🙂. I agree with you, that the constant search and desire to please God (and draw closer to Him) is a comfort, and my heart rejoices to see so many more on that/THE path these days. May God bless you, Kris, and anyone else who reads this.

Know when to walk away... know when you are casting pearls before swine... know when truth is falling on deaf ears. You speak truth, let the Spirit convict. Those who truly seek the truth will find it. All of Paul's writings are pretty clear on their error... Hebrews make their error CRYSTAL clear. "Till heaven and earth pass away" I remember reading in Romans and Paul explained that sin was in the flesh when we were born, and the law came and we died because of sin in us. The law magnified sin for the evil it was, and when Jesus achieved victory on the cross, he took victory over sin then. Since that time, we who believe in Jesus die to our flesh daily and walk in the spirit after him; as he died in the flesh, so also do we daily. The law has dominion over the flesh even to this day, but dominion over the spirit is Jesus's. This is why we're not under the law; because we die to the flesh daily and walk in the spirit in Christ. This is how I understood Romans when I read it.

@skyttyl
@skyttyl 3 жыл бұрын
@@billyb7465 the flesh refers to lusts, or more accurately, lusts that are against God's established order. I remember hearing one time sin described as "pleasure outside it's proper season," and it made sense to me; fornication is intercourse before marriage, which is a defrauding of one another; when you join flesh with one another, you're one flesh for life, which is why it's so important to marry. Otherwise, you wind up exposing the nakedness of many a man and the woman feels unloved by many a man, to the point she hardens her heart toward men in general- after all, all those men hardened their hearts toward her first and refused to love her for real. Another example would be to cheat people, or extort them, even lie about them to the authorities so they're punished in some way; be it the loss of a job or jail time, or even a fine. Most people know this is beyond wrong even today, but there are groups among us who are finding success with these kinds of tactics, so they use them happily, supposing the ends justify the means. We always want to live honorably and justly among our fellow man, giving respect to everyone as one created in the image and likeness of God, hence why so many of God's laws dealt with how do you deal with people, even those who aren't of your nationality, their possessions and cattle, your possessions and cattle, etc. God said of the two greatest commandments they were these: love the Lord your God with all your heart, and mind and soul and speech. The second was similar; love your neighbor as yourself. Because we love God, we turn from the lusts of our flesh, because they go against God's established order, and they are acts of hatred toward God's order. If what you do doesn't go against that order, then you haven't done evil doing that, but those things which are done in their incorrect season, or have perverted the natural order, those are evil and shouldn't be done. To love your neighbor is to refuse to do evil to them; to treat them fairly, no matter what, and sometimes, you get cheated yourself, but do no evil yourself because you respect God's creation for God's sake. People do go overboard from time to time forbidding things here and there; they did it in Jesus' time as well, such as making sure you wash your hands, but weren't concerned with forgiveness or justice; weightier matters of the law, far more important than how many times you washed your hands that day. I always suggest to know your scripture and let it be your final authority, because whatever doctrine men come up with, it will be judged by God's word; the scripture.

Concerning Matthew 5:18, I have been curious of this for a while now. If the Law (the Mosaic covenant) is still in effect in its entirety, exactly as Jesus stated it (“the Law”), and not an iota and not a dot has changed, should we still be practicing Leviticus 4 and Leviticus 16 (sacrifices and offerings for sin and the Day of Atonement)? If Jesus, as Hebrews 9 states, entered once and for all into the holy places by His own blood to purify and redeem those who believe on Him, would it be appropriate to still offer the blood of animals for our sins today? Of course there is no temple today as God purposefully removed it, but if there still was one, would it be appropriate? If the answer is yes, I do not see how this is not blasphemous to the very finished work of Christ on the cross and what He accomplished as stated in Hebrews 9. If the answer is no, then this would seem quite a larger change than an iota or dot to the very Law that is being claimed is still in effect from Matthew 5:18. I am hoping someone might be able to answer would it be appropriate to continue to practice Leviticus 4 & 16 (if it were possible) while remaining in the text of Matthew 5:18 and in the context that the Law (the entirety of it as it is a whole unit) has not changed.

You will find the answers to your hypothetical question in Romans, especially chapters 6 and 7, and in Hebrews, as you mentioned, and especially this passage from chapter 10: "[10] By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. [11] And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: [12] But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; [13] From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. [14] For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. [15] Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, [16] This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; [17] And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. [18] Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin." In summary, Romans says that those that are in Christ are both no longer under the law and are dead to sin. Hebrews says that by the once for all offering of the body of Jesus Christ, God has perfected us forever. So obviously these "hebrew roots" doctrines are deception and error.

If anyone of you really want Truth you have to search for it, advice dont go to church, they have some of the truth, but half the truth is still a lie 💯📖 facts are that the Torah is part of the new covenant, look up Jeremiah 31:33 in the Hebrew, book of Hebrews quotes that very scripture, Messiah himself said heaven and earth would pass before anything perished from the Torah Mathew 5:17-20, Messiah kept the Torah perfectly and said follow Me i have laid before you the perfect example, sadly people want to take away from the Father's perfect Torah, dont fall for it, NO ONE has the authority to do so , not even the Son that's why he said I do nothing of myself, of course we don't keep the Torah to earn salvation, it is the Father's instructions and will for our lives, we can only be justified through the Blood of Messiah Yeshua , but do we continue in sin that grace may abound GOD FORBID Romans 6:1-2, do we make void the Torah through faith GOD FORBID we ESTABLISH the Torah Romans 3:31, the whole point of the Torah is to point out sin, if you get rid of it we no longer are aware of these sins the Torah points out, may YAH bless you all 🙏💯♥️☝️📖

Thank you that was a very good exposé. I’m so glad you’ve covered this!!! Clearing all the confusion out. I’ve recently came across a Hebrew roots movement on KZbin and I didn’t realise it until I started digging into their core believes. At the beginning I really enjoyed and was very blessed by their great teachings on Old Testament truths, I wanted to know more about the Hebrew foundation of the gospel and I found great answers on their channel, and I just thought to ignore some of the things they say or do (follow Shabbat etc) thinking it was minor since they still believe in Jesus as Messiah so that’s ok. But some specific things kept reoccurring in the teachings and I had to dig deeper, I realised they believe in a certain interpretation of the ‘two sticks’ doctrine based on Ezekiel 37. It basically says that God (Yah as they say) is reuniting the descendants of the tribe of Judah and the lost 10 tribes (Ephraim) and they teach that all believers are in fact descendants from the lost tribes of Israel that were scattered around the world and that God is bringing them back to the truth and to the Torah! They teach that there’s an awakening around the world of many people coming to understand their Jewish ancestry and coming back to the Torah. They went as far as saying that Paul’s epistle have not been interpreted properly, that when he wrote about bringing the Jews and the gentiles together as one new man he meant the Tribe of Judah and Ephraim (the 10 lost tribes) meaning that the gentiles Paul was talking about are the descendants of Ephraim. They have built a (convincing) case to prove that the Jews scattered around the world and are in all the nations. Even if it’s true that many of us have Jewish roots, that kind of teaching ends up being exclusive to a certain genetic group of people or ethnicity which is so NOT the Gospel. Didn’t’ Jesus die for everyone? What happened to whosoever believes ? This kind of teachings play with your mind. The channels teaches truths and mixes it with a portion of lies, and even if the portion of lies is only a part of it, it corrupts everything. They keep bringing back this doctrine at every corner. One of things that also made me start to wonder is that even though they acknowledge Yeshua as the Messiah they don’t speak much of Him, don’t seem to exalt Him more than that, don’t talk much of what He’s accomplish and who He is. The lies are so subtle. I didn’t know about the Hebrew roots movement until now. I knew something wasn’t right but couldn’t put my finger on it until I checked their cores believes. I think people are blessed when they understand truths about the Old Testament and how it connects to the New Testament with the foreshadowings of Jesus, but the deception is to stop there and to start living the Old Testament and the Jewish way again instead of realising Jesus fulfilled it all. I’m so glad the Holy Spirit opened my eyes in time. We need to know the Word of God for ourselves! Thanks again Mike and God bless you. *the channel I’m talking about is ‘Assembly of called-out Believers’ with teacher Isaac Heckman*.

great share Ruby. Thanks. for all my teen years I was fed good teaching from the Word at a Full Gospel Church but they taught big on British Israel(ism) which is not right. Your description of what you were being taught at the HeBR church sounds very very much like the British Israel doctrine. Glad you came out of that. It MUst be all about Jesus and who He is and what He has done; He has taken us out of the Law and we now belong to Him. This is what Paul says in chap 7 of Romans v1-4. It is what he means when by the Holy Spirit he says that we are not our own - we have been bought with a price (Jesus blood) 1 Cor 6. And we are not under the Law of Moses but under the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus - which has made us free from the Law of Sin and Death (which is what the Law of Moses was) - Romans 8:1-2. Abide in Jesus and go on growing up in Him to teh fulness of he measure of the staure of Christ - Ephesians 4:13.

Here is the thing, the difference between the Christian and the Hebrew Roots, followers of Yahusha. The Natsarene(Hebrew roots) follow the teachings of Yahusha. The Christian follows the teaching of the church. That is the difference. You would expect that should be the same as they are both based on the teachings of the Bible. Wrong! The Natsarene does follow the teaching of Messiah Yahusha. And the Christian follows the teaching of Jesus/church. What is the difference? Scripture says we must follow the example of our Messiah. 1Pe 2:21 For to this you were called, because Messiah also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps, And what did our Hebrew Messiah of the Bible do? He kept the Commands of Moses. So then we should too? That is what the Word of the Father says! Here is the kicker, the church say they follow the Bible, But they don’t follow the teaching and example of our Hebrew Messiah from the Bible. Let us look at it from another angle. What does our Father say about Himself? He says HE NEVER CHANGES! Mal 3:6 “For I am יהוה, I shall not change, and you, O sons of Ya‛aqoḇ, shall not come to an end. He says, He will not changes what He said NOR His Covenant(10 commandments)! Psa 89:34 “I shall not profane My covenant, Neither would I change what has gone out from My lips. Our Father is UNCHANGEABLE! Heb 6:17 In this way Elohim, resolving to show even more clearly to the heirs of promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, confirmed it by an oath, There is NO shadow of change in Him! Jas 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change, nor shadow of turning. He also said, His WORD may not be changed at all!(Rev 22:18&19) Deu 4:2 “Do not add to the Word which I command you, and do not take away from it, so as to guard the commands of יהוה your Elohim which I am commanding you. AND He said the ALL Scripture applies: 2Ti 3:16 All Scripture is breathed out by Elohim and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for setting straight, for instruction in righteousness, 2Ti 3:17 that the man of Elohim might be fitted, equipped for every good work. So according to the Word of our Heavenly Father, the conclusion is…. Ecc 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the entire matter: Fear Elohim and guard His commands, for this applies to all mankind! So how exactly did the church get it right to change the Father and Son’s Name? How did they change the Sabbath? How did they change and got rid of the Scriptural feasts? How did unclean food suddenly become clean? How did circumcision disappear? Because they are servant of the one they obey(and that is not the Father nor Messiah): Ecc 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the entire matter: Fear Elohim and guard His commands, for this applies to all mankind! And they do NOT obey The Father Yahuah nor the Son Yahusha. If they did really Love Him, they would ….. Joh 14:15 “If you love Me, you shall guard My commands.

Are you saying it is unnecessary for me to keep the 10 Commandments? 2. How do we define sin without the Law/Commandments? 3. The following New Testament verses appear to indicate that we should be keeping the Commandments. John 14:15, John 15:10, Rom. 2:13, Rom. 3:31, Rom. 7:7, Rom. 7:12-14, Rom. 8:7, 1 Tim. 3:16-17, Heb. 8:10, 1 John 2:3-6, 1 John 3:4, 1 John 3:22-24, 1 John 5:2-3, 2 John 6, Rev. 12:17, Rev. 14:12, Rev. 22:14. I was wondering if you had planned on addressing any of these scriptures? Jesus never said it was okay to worship other gods, kill people, or commit adultery, etc, etc. It's pretty clear those rules apply to gentile christians too.

What has attracted me to HRM is because the paganism in Christian holidays like Christmas and Easter and the rise of Progressive Christianity. Who seem to do the complete opposite of HRM, but appears to have got there start because they have turned there backs on the Torah and even what is labeled as a sin in the NT. I have seen many pastors seem to be focused on preaching about love, grace and forgiveness, but never sin. It makes me feel that preaching about sin is taboo like politics and we are afraid to lose people if we do. In addition I have seen traditional Christians claim to be NT believers because the OT is to confusing and violent.

Torah is living under Gods righteous instructions...Torah was from the beginning. People get caught up in the 5 books of Moses...which by default is indeed Torah but the difference in understanding David and Paul is to make a distinction between the Book of the Covenant and the Book of the Law...both are righteous. Only the Book of the Law was imposed for transgression until the time of reformation...until seed come...Shiloh...it was a concession to death after the golden calf breech. Exodus 19:5 through Exodus 24:11 is the blood ratified Covenant of Promise confirmed with a covenant confirming meal. Jesus/Yeshua brings us back to that original covenant. That's all we have to do...everything after 24:11 was imposed...It wasn't blood ratified and it wasn't agreed to and there was no covenant confirming meal...its not a part of the Covenant of Promise...see if you make that distinction the Torah Roots movement would understand they are partly right...more so than the Christian. Messianic Judaism however is dabbling in cultish religion not inspired by God. Just to clarify...the Book of the Covenant was INSIDE the ark...the Book of the Law was strapped (like bondage) to the OUTSIDE of the ark as a "witness against them." So it seems we should be walking in that Covenant of Promise which is the Ten Commandments, Sabbath, Feast Days and Dietary Laws...but not the Book of the Law which is after Exodus 24:11...If you can dig deep enough to better understand Pauls teaching becomes so much clearer and less contradicting...Also are understanding of the word Gentile. The gentiles in general are the Lost Sheep of the house of Israel...not necessarily heathens and pagans...though as many of them are welcome...but it is about Israel...Biblical Israel...not those who say they but are not...Rothschilds brought about the State of Israel...not God...when God does it...we all will know...and we all (believers/Israel) will have access to the land...

Richy Rich, Jesus never said people who follow the law of Moses would be great in Heaven. In fact, he will say to many people who did many good works to get behind him. Grace + works = works aka pouring new wine into old wineskins. Doing his commandments means loving God and your neighbor as yourself, which is the spirit of the law written on the hearts of believers by the Holy Spirit in the New Covenant in his blood. And Jesus explained next exactly what he was talking about by listing what they had always heard from the letter of the law of Moses verses his new teaching about the spirit of the law: LOVE.

Second of all, you don't get you into Heaven period! You can't earn your way in by works or by belief or by faith. You get in by grace and grace alone, His Grace! Jesus alone decides who makes it through the gate. And why is he going to want you if you won't even do what he said to do? We are called to Holiness after you accept Him. in the New testament he even quotes OT to be "Holy for I am Holy". That reference is in the context of his dietary laws and keeping Sabbath etc. If you look it up in the OT. THE Law given to moses was given to show sin. Even Paul says this. Mosaic law is also moral.God's spoken word will not contradict "natural law" it is within His law given to moses. @@samanthaparks4735 ... ok, this is where I think you may be missing the nuance that I am trying to point out. The Mosaic is moral, YES, because it is was a command given to the Israelites under the Sanai Covenant. But it was NOT commands given to anyone BUT the nation of Israel. WITHIN that Law is also the natural law. So, point being: God gave distinct commands to different people, for different purposes, as He slowly and progressively revealed Himself to the world and fulfilled His covenant promises from Eve to us, with the final revelation being in Jesus. The Mosaic Law was perfect within it's intent and purpose... Paul and the author of Hebrews spoke of the Mosaic Law as a tutor, a guardian, a yoke, bondage, unable to make right, etc. The purpose of the Law is fulfilled, and now we are under the New Covenant. You are free to keep the traditions within the Law, Samantha... but it is not required, and it is inadequate for righteousness. I'm not going to engage in a long drawn out debate, because from my experience, I am NOT capable of opening closed minds and eyes (PLEASE do not believe I'm accusing you of this), so I don't want to enter into a potentially fruitless debate. The Law is not bondage. 1John 5:3 James 1:25,2:12. It also brings peace to those who love it psalm 119:165 it is good doctrine proverbs 4:2. Many more scripture showing how the law is a Light, is Truth, and Good. The pharasies are the ones that put burdens on the people with their made up traditions and doctrines of men. .. Hi Mike, When you talk about the native and the sojourner and Israel as a nation, Hebrew roots has a much different perspective. I think 119 has a video called “the lost sheep” and “what is the gospel”. The theology is that the northern and southern kingdom (Israel and Judah) split and the northern kingdom was dispersed among the nations (the lost tribes of Israel) and that God is restoring that, fulfilling prophecy. In other words, that we are Israel. This is a general doctrine of Hebrew roots. Also, the stick of Ephraim ( two house theology). To really rebuttal Hebrew roots, two house will have to be addressed. I have truly believed this around 3 years now and have accepted that the Torah is still applicable today. With that being said, I have an open ear and I am open for thoughtful and biblical proof of an interpretation and am willing to change views. Tackling the theology I put forth will get to the heart of the theology and debate.

I think that Jesus is saying that the Law of Moses consists of 613 laws and anyone who obeys the whole lot will be great and those who miss that 100% level of perfection aren't doing too well. The truth is that no one can hope to keep all 613 laws which is why we need a saviour. The Law cannot save. Only Jesus can save because He has done it all on our behalf.

I have a question. I have been listening to some Hebrew Roots teachings, were we not grafted onto the tree that is Israel? so can we not view the Law as a way to live after we have been saved? The Law was given to Israel AFTER they were saved from their bondage, not as a means of their salvation but as a guideline for living righteously

Mike, you are being too gentle toward this movement. These "teachers" are unsettling poor old grandmas and other vulnerable Christians and the Scripture has this to say about them: "I wish those who unsettle you would emasculate themselves." (Gal. 5:12) The epistle to the Galatians deals with exactly this issue: the issue of Judaizers.

The law of God is like a mirror that shows us our need for Jesus. The law doesn’t remove the sin- we must be cleansed with Jesus blood. If you have Jesus living in your hearts- then you are not killing, stealing, coveting, committing adultery and you love God and want to worship Him like He says. 2 Thessalonians 2:10-11 KJV [10] And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. [11] And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: Isaiah 1:9-10 KJV [9] Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah. [10] Hear the word of the Lord, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah. Isaiah 1:16-20 KJV [16] Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; [17] Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. [18] Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord : though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. [19] If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: [20] But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. Isaiah 5:20 KJV [20] Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Isaiah 5:24 KJV [24] Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV [14] If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. I am curious about something you have said. You are addressing “the Law” in the correct and wholesome way as it is used in this passage (i.e., it is either all of it, or none of it, but is not taken in parts). Either all of it is fulfilled, or none of it is. As Jesus says, not even the smallest part will pass, until all is accomplished. I have never seen any allowance in the Torah for atonement of sin being done once for all by the blood of the Son of God. It is always by the blood of animals. Do you accept? Jesus’s atoning blood for your sin? If so, how is that not a change? I have poured over the Torah many times and atonement for sin in the way Jesus’s blood is applied is nowhere in there, hence the animal sacrifices. It is really just that straightforward. If none of it changed, then you are not allowed to accept his blood for the atonement of your sin and must instead depend on the blood of an animal that has not been sacrificed on behalf of Israel for over 1900 years. If you can see the major issue here on what I would consider the most straightforward part of this passage, then please consider these passages, when considering “all is accomplished” (notes I have made previously that I copied and pasted here). What does “all” mean here? What does “all” mean in these verses? What is the context of accomplished? Luke 18:31 31 And taking the twelve, he said to them, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished. - Does “everything” include Christ returning for his bride as in Revelation? There is always a context. - “all” in Matt 5:18 is the same Greek word we have here for “everything” (g3956. πᾶς pas). Luke 21:22 for these are days of vengeance, to fulfill ALL that is written. John 19:28 28 After this, Jesus, knowing that ALL was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture), “I thirst.” John 19:30 30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. Luke 9:30-31 30 And behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah, 31 who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. Luke 12:50 50 I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how great is my distress until it is accomplished! Does all in Matt 5:18 mean all? Clearly no.

@@miketisdale7341 Christs sacrifice wasn’t his literal blood on an altar it was his obedience to the Father & laying his life down for the sheep. You’re taking his sacrificial life death & resurrection literal in comparing it to the Torah & the sacrificial system when even the disciples didn’t see it as that. His sacrifice does not go against the Torah & prophets at all, his life, death & justification of sinners is foretold in the Torah & prophets.

@@aaronshipp8766 I am not just speaking literally. But nonetheless, it seems like you are saying that if you had the option (temple, altar, and all else required), you would seek and accept atonement from two avenues for your sin (whether you want to divide them physically and figuratively or not), correct?

@@miketisdale7341 your argument doesn’t make sense because you aren’t clearly addressing Matt. 5:18. Just cause the context of other verses with a Greek word can mean something different when it says all doesn’t mean that is what Matt. 5:18 is saying. All pertains to the specific set of verses that are being pointed to in the Tanakh in the context of the situation. I simply suggest that based on the context of Matt 5:18 being about all the things in the law and prophets coming to pass (not specifically about what may be written about Yeshua only which is what some of the verses u mentioned are about ) which points to all prophecy being fulfilled in what is written in them. It’s fine if you disagree but it’s be better if you directly speak on your understanding of the context of Matt 5:18 n not just point to other verses with different context n try to say “all” is clearly not about all the Torah and prophets.

@@aaronshipp8766 as is the nature of communicating over text :-). My apologies for not pointing to my understanding from the questions I asked and the verses I pointed to. My understanding is that “all“ does not mean everything written of Christ prophetically, old or new covenant. In my view, “all“ is referring to the very purpose that God the Son came and dwelt among us for. As is seen in the use of “all” and “everything” in the verses I provided as examples, “all” rarely means “all” as we tend to think of it as. He accomplished “all” in Matthew 5:18 when He said on the cross “it is finished” and accomplished the purpose He came for (just has He Himself states numerous times). This view allows me to Biblically accept and receive His atonement for sin by my faith in His accomplished work and not from animal sacrifices. There is no provision in Torah for atonement for sin apart from animal sacrifice (if you assume not a jot has changed), and clearly Jesus’s sacrifice does this very thing once and for all (assuming we are comparing old and new covenants and contrasting Jesus’s atonement with that of the provision of animal sacrifice, which is the very thing the writer of Hebrews does). Of course Jesus is foretold of in the Torah, but that does not mean you are allowed to accept atonement for sin in any other way than as is clearly prescribed in Torah (animal sacrifice) over and over and over. It is disingenuous to sweep away this glaring point of a change regarding atonement of sin by simply saying that Jesus is foretold of in the Torah and prophets. I am not saying that what Christ accomplished goes against the Torah. I am saying that it replaces how sin was a toned for, which is a huge change and passing away. This is why I asked you that if you had a temple, a consecrated altar, and a priesthood if you would seek atonement for your sin BOTH in the sacrifice of an animal as well as in Christ’s once for all atoning sacrifice. This is ultimately what I am hoping to understand from you as I do not see how it can be any other way if you assert that nothing has changed in the commands we are to follow. Please let me know and thank you.

It read something like, "How do you respond to the eschatological view that is used to get people to subscribe to mosaic law because the third temple will require sacrifices (per Ezekiel), punishments regarding dietary laws (per Isaiah 66:17), and/or feast days (per Zech 14:18)?" What does this mean for Israel? and for Gentiles? I dont mean this in a salvific way, but an obedience way.. If you can't answer here, maybe you can include it in your next video, because some who are part of this movement have their actions rest on future events, based in this eschatological view

I agree with your comment. Initially, it makes perfect sense but eventually, the All-Suffiency of Christ seems to become hijacked and we no longer trust in His finished work alone. It tends to become Jesus + works. That's my take-away from being involved in this movement. I felt I was losing sight of Jesus so backed away. However, I do find tremendous joy and value in celebrating the Feasts of Lord. They contain a level of spiritual meaning that is simply not to be found in the celebration of Easter and Christmas. These 'Christian' events are so linked with secular celebrations that it's very difficult to stay focused, whereas the biblical Feast Days are solely focused on God.

If it was the Mosaic law that was given to Abraham then scripture would have totally contradicted itself! Read Deut 5:2-4. No, Abraham had a covanent of FAITH with God. The Mosiac law is not built on faith (Gal 3:12). Abraham believed God and it was credited as righteousness. The Mosiac law was NOT made for the righteous, but for law-breakers and rebells (1 Tim 1:9). And read Genesis carefully! There you will see plenty of examples of how Abraham obeyed the commandments of God - not the ten commandments, but commandments given only to Abraham, just as God is doing with Christians today.

Becky Sampson exactly. Ellen G White was a false prophet who butchered the gospel of Jesus Christ and tried to shove people back under an old covenant that was never intended for them but for Israel. And Saturday sabbath keeping is their pet OC law and the dividing line between them (“the Remnant” as they believe themselves to be) and the rest of the world. It’s all about the sabbath. Google SDA and “The National Sunday Law”. It’s hard for them to give up this SDA imperative, since even if they wanted to if they go to a “Sunday church”, they’re afraid they’re going to get the Mark of the Beast because that’s what they’ve been taught. There’s more.... I’ve gone in circles with many on FB and most can rarely tell me what the gospel is. 😢 Their eschatology is focused on Saturday as Sabbath. And thus their gospel.

The issue I see is that if your core doctrine is incorrect, you may have a gospel that cannot save you. Becky Sampson amen. The Lord through Paul’s letter to the Galatians was very clear on this- and Galatians is one of those books SDAs and HRM need to read. We need to pray for those we know in it. The Holy Spirit has to open their eyes to the truth. “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel- not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.” ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭1:6-9‬ ‭ESV‬‬ The wording is strong- “accursed”. And later with the same thought in mind Paul says he wishes they would emasculate themselves. This false gospel stuff is serious. It’s mislead many.

You don't "think" Jesus is talking about when the law will pass away. Now THAT'S a strong argument. Your replacement theology will perish on the Great Day. I pray that you and all those you are leading astray do not perish with it. Like anything else, if you would bother to understand the first of the book in context, then you would not continue to force modern, Greek-based misunderstandings onto the Hebrew story of God choosing a people for himself and teaching how He wants those people to live. Whether you like it or not, Torah is simply God's instructions for living. Keeping Torah is defined by the Bible as righteousness. Ignoring Torah is defined by the Bible as sin.

It is tricky to say the least. Any teachings given before Jesus death and resurrection are technically old covenant teachings therefore Jesus teachings could be viewed as non binding.

cyberlizard That isn't true at all. The New Covenant is established on better promises(eternal life), not a different set of rules(Heb 8:6). Isaiah was also inspired by the Spirit to write that the Messiah would exalt the law(Isa 42:21). This alone proves anyone perpetrating a false gospel about Jesus dissolving the law a liar, for the Bible repeatedly teaches God shows absolutely no partiality.

On abolish vs fulfill. Say you've been given an assignment that you have to finish before you're allowed to turn it in. Maybe there's a certain number of hours of research you have to do, or a certain number of pages you have to write before the professor will accept it. Even if you do the required hours of research and write the required number of pages, you may do a poor job, but I'm not dealing with that, I'm dealing with meeting the requirements necessary to even submit the assignment. Doing those necessary requirements is a fulfillment. Now let's say that before you submit the assignment, the professor abolishes it. In that instance, you wouldn't submit your work, and any work you've done would be meaningless. In both cases, fulfilling and abolishing, you no longer have anything to do. Now, if Jesus fulfills the law, it's like He completed all the requirements for the augment and turned it on on your behalf. The cool thing about that is He turns in a perfectly fine assignment for you, instead of the certain you would have done which would have gotten an F. If the law were abolished, then we wouldn't even be able to get an F on the assignment. So, of course Jesus didn't abolish the law, that would be counterproductive to Him reconciling is to Him. He did fulfill the requirements of the law for us and He did it perfectly. But either through fulfillment or abolishment, the law isn't something we have to worry with. Fortunately, it's been fulfilled. Now, I would also point out that at the time of Jesus giving the Sermon on the Mount, the law hands yet been fulfilled, that only happened after He was crucified. So, even looking at just that prob of scripture, there were arguments one can make against the Hebrew Roots movement.

Easy proof God sometimes changes laws for us humans to follow depending on where in time we are: Genesis 9 and its first few verses describe God allowing Noah to begin to eat animals. This was not allowed prior to the flood. God doesn't change, but we are not the ones to interpret what he deems clean and unclean, as mentioned in Peter. If the time comes and he says stop, then we should stop, but according to the Scriptures all animals were made clean to eat in this church age. It's like a speed limit law. The law may say "follow the speed limit" but what that speed limit is may change depending on the need in a certain area, like a school or on a highway. The law stays the same but the application changes as you move around. God doesn't change, he sometimes just has laws for a certain time and certain people and He changes those rules as needed. Maybe there's a spiritual ramification of the unclean animals during the days of Isreal that was made right during the resurrection. Who are we to know or question God on his reasons?

Lord means Ba'al in Hebrew, the church getting you to worship Ba'al.

17:25 Interesting that you bring that up Mike, that sojourners were not required to keep the whole law. in a sense, you're absolutely right. What you might have not noticed, however, is the particular laws assigned to the sojourners in the Torah: Sexual immorality, Idolatry, things offered to idols, from consuming animals that die of themselves, from consuming blood, the sabbath, and also to hear the law on the year of release so they could learn it and do it. Hmmm, where have I heard those things mentioned before? *snap* that's right! Acts 15:20-21! So that must mean that James didn't just pull those commandments out of the air and regarded the gentile converts as sojourners! Furthermore, the Septuagint reads in Exodus 12:48 and 49 a little differently than the masoretic, calling them "Converts" not sojourners. What this tells us is that at the time of the translation of the Torah into Greek, the translators saw sojourners as converts. What were(are) the gentiles coming into the faith then? Converts. Is it any wonder then that James applied the Laws initially applied to converts to the gentile converts? No. What is curious then is why the other component of conversion laid out in Exodus 12:48 is the very issue being argued in Acts 15 and the book of Galatians. According to the plain reading of the text, circumcision was necessary to complete the conversion, in addition to keeping passover. It's also curious how Jesus is described as our passover lamb? Perhaps there's a good reason why placing your faith in Jesus, just as the mixed multitude of others in ADDITION to the descendants of Jacob placed their faith in God and kept the first Passover. I wonder if Paul and Barnabas were arguing for the Holy Spirit being the evidence of the circumcision made without hands prophesied in Deuteronomy 30:6??? When we look at the records left by our spiritual forefathers like the Gospels and Acts, or the guidance provided by the epistles, we have to think about THEIR context. Their context was a deeper and greater knowledge and understanding of the Torah, Writings, and the Prophets than you, me, or ten others like us combined because they learned directly at the feet of the Author of all of it for three years. Paul had tremendous scholastic accolades as well. We also have to understand that every word, sentence, chapter, and book was chosen carefully when the New Testament was being first written over decades, and then put together. It's clear that it is supplemental to the Torah, Writings, and the Prophets and was never meant to be a stand alone for the formation of doctrine. Yet I've heard you differentiate over and over again between us and the Israelites to whom the scriptures were given and placing the emphasis for us in the New Testament alone. I don't fault you for not looking at things this way. After a manner, denominational and otherwise mainstream "orthodoxy" precludes you from ever even asking these questions. Why? Because the "orthodoxy" already has it all figured out and it is at least packaged convincingly, so therefore there's no need to pursue any further inquiry into the matter.

While i was reading the book of acts the other day, Paul was running to a town to preach. He had his companion circumcised because they were preaching to the Jews. It seemed more like a cultural thing at that point and not an expectation to follow the Law by God. So I'm leaning, no the Jews are not required to keep the Law.

Christ fulfilled the law without sin to show men that they can to if their heart is into it. Read what Paul says about it. All four gospels speaks of this. Paul says that they rejected christ so he went to the gentiles to provoke Jews into jealousy. It's always been by faith and grace from the beginning of Genesis to Revelation. The law let's us know not what to do that sins against God. Remember christ is God manifested in the flesh and he will not speak against himself

If you truly want to have a better understanding of what these guys are talking about, this is one of the best teachings I can think of that has a privides a great background of their thinking, prior to getting into the law. In order to under stand their view God's law and grace you need to understand who you are in the bible. Who Jesus came for? More about the old testiment. And in turn who will have a better understanding of Jesus's teachings and Paul's writings. Also everyone is commenting how Jesus's law is greater then the "Law of Moses" but you have to remember that the Law of Moses is really the Law of GOD. In the bible it says that God's Law is PERFECT in the old testament and to be used for doctrine and reproof in the New testament. Because Jesus is the Law. He is the word made flesh. Just saying you can't contradict the bible. You said if we did a study of covenant and law of Moses they sound like the same and sometimes overlap. Exodus 34:28 tells me they are exactly the same. The Ten Commandments is the Covenant. I think where they may differ is in the case laws and the dietary laws. The dietary laws seem to come from nowhere actually - meaning there was no precedent for them. BTW. You doing a great job. I did a study on the Sabbath, then Law, then Covenant during lockdown. I appreciate the way you are handling the question, but understanding Covenant is probably the key to responding to these folk. the disciple Jesus, when talking about the ends days, in that particular passage, was referring to Judea, that was directly to the Jews in Judea, pray that your flight not be in the winter or on the Sabbath because He knew how they reacted to Him healing in the Sabbath and furthermore, forgiving sins on the Sabbath, He KNEW that even until the last day they would be the same, He NEVER mentioned that about the gentiles, however He is everyone's Sabbath, which means rest, in Him find your rest, and anything that would make one day unholy, will make any day unholy, and we are to NEVER to grieve the SPIRIT, treating everyday as the Sabbath, finding our rest in Jesus's righteousness daily. I have grieved over this, prayed and studied, and this is where I have been led, because He specifically said that those in Judea, flee to the mountains, to not even return for your coat, flee and pray that your flight not be in winter or on the Sabbath, He KNEW they would still be depending on the law and works for salvation. All the way until the very end. The gentiles are supposed to be the light to the Jews now, and God's power MUST be seen in our lives, enough to bring the Jews to jealousy. However, not ALL who say they are Jews, are truly Jews. Many get their doctrine directly from Babylon, buy there us a remnant there who know and see their deception. ALL we depend on relies on Jesus alone. Which produces good fruit by default. GRIEVING not the SPIRIT.

That Jesus is God, from the beginning, manifest in flesh, suffering His blood for payment of ALL sin, and HE indeed raised Himself from death on the third day and He FOREVER lives in Glory, that whosoever trusts and believes this, and puts their faith for salvation in His righteousness alone, then indeed you are my brethren.

Love in today's society has become more of a noun than a verb. By this I mean it has become only the feeling of affection and attachment. Love has lost its meaning as an action. Love has lost its meaning as a commitment. This commitment includes a commitment from both parties, not just one. Jesus Christ has already made his commitment to us, and it is our duty, if we truly love God and Christ, to uphold our end of that commitment by reciprocating the love that he gives us. How do we do this? The Apostle John explains best for us what it means to love God and to love Christ: "If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." John 14:15-17 "As the Father hat loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love." John 15:9-10 "My little children, these things I write unto you, that ye sin not, And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: And not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him." 1 John 2:1-5 "Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous." 1 John 5:1-3 "I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it." 2 John 1:4-6 Only one truth can be drawn from these verses: To love God is to love Christ, and to love God is to keep his commandments.
