Жыл бұрын

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives have taken over the country, reaching into every aspect of our work, school, and lives. What is "DEI," though? New Discourses founder James Lindsay explains the idea and its history in unprecedented depth in this new series from an in-person workshop in Miami, Florida, breaking down each of the three letters in detail. What we'll find is that it's a contemporary and managerial repackaging of socialism.
In this first episode of the series, Lindsay dives into the concept at the center of DEI: Equity. It is not possible to understand DEI initiatives without realizing that equity is what drives them. Equity is the goal of all DEI programs, which is to say that DEI programs exist to force captive audiences of people to achieve "equitable" redistribution of resources, status, and wealth according to neo-Marxist Identity Theories like Critical Race Theory. Equity is an administered political economy in which shares are adjusted so that citizens are made equal, including shares of social and cultural capital. In other words, it's an expansion of socialism. Once we understand what equity is about, the purposes of "Diversity" and "Inclusion" initiatives become clear. Join James Lindsay as he walks you through the roots and true meaning of "Equity."

This DEI stuff is everywhere. I was a volunteer for the National Ski Patrol for over 30 years. About 2 years ago they decided the organization was too male and too white. They commissioned a DEI study by a trio of 20-something consultants. One of the mandates that came out of the study was that we must address each first aid patient with their preferred pronouns and giver ours I was pushed out when I said I was not comfortable with that.

I dream about the day that nobody will feel the need to say "I'm black" or "I'm white" or anything. I myself am a Brazilian white atheist. And although I don't believe in God or Christ, I cannot deny that my entire cultural root is absolutely Christian in nature. My morality don't come from a scientific theory tested in a lab (an absurd and impossible proposition), but rather from an ancient Judeo-Christian tradition. So I say that, despite being an atheist by faith, I am "culturally Christian"

The short section about; "is having a special ed class segregationist?" Hit a little close to home. I was in special ed for a learning disability, but the goal was to integrate me to a normal class through study and work. Basically, I had to meet the standards of a normal class. Luckily through enough hard work, I was able to integrate with these normal classes and earn a diploma and not a GED upon graduation. I can't imagine the utter nightmare of dumbing down a whole regular class, just to be more "equitable" for my individual situation; but that's the goal of DEI and now we're seeing not people hired on merit of their work, but on what boxes they tick. The end result is a kleptomanic weirdo in goverment level Nuclear Waste management, who steals women's dresses from the luggage claim at air ports.

I would argue the key goal is based around the pathological envy and wealth envy that now pervades the middle-class Marxists. It's money. They bring all of the actually vulnerable, disadvantaged, marginalised groups, yell loudly at power/government until bags of money appear, and then employ that money to their own ends. Educational inclusion is about maintaining generous per student funding for students with disability, learning difficulties, etc, while minimising the actual costs. Shove those students in mainstream classes and syphon off the excess resources.

1:00:10 "Inclusion becomes the justification for firing problematic people, then when new hiring takes place, DEI standards kick in to only hire friendlys". I would just like to point out, in some cases, as is the case with K-12 education, and probably many other government fields, it is not "problematic people" who are leaving, and they are not being fired. In education, DEI and social justice ideology is contributing to a situation of such utter disorder and toxicity that reasonable people are just saying f*** this, and quitting. What then happens is less qualified younger (and therefore likely to be more friendly to DEI ideas) people are hired. The situation inside the organization only becomes more and more focused on DIE identity marxist crap, wash rinse repeat.
@jefflanahan8812
@jefflanahan8812 Жыл бұрын
Also, the same is occurring in our policing systems. The media and our cultures' broad and sustained rebuke of our policing systems as systemically racist, created the impression that there is a huge presence of "problematic" police officers that need to be purged. The defund the police movement can be seen as a force to cause departments to have to consider firings to cope with a lower budget. New hirings, now being advocated by people in the same places who previously were advocating to defund, would then be done under a DEI regime. I don't know if firings ever took place in policing or not, but it is definitely the case that many police officers simply quit their jobs because the situation, like in education, is one of utter chaos and toxicity. Now that new hirings need to take place because of increased crime, enter DEI standards for hiring.

I’ve searched long and hard for someone that echoes my father’s and my view of the current state of affairs. From Truman to Roosevelt to the Frankfurt School to Neo-Marxists, from identity-marxism and the pollution of the American Ethos and the American cultural fabric. All of this and more. I’ve now come home. This is the base of the reset that must be implemented if future generations are to enjoy the wonders of our American Republic. The Neo-Commies are dismantling it in front of our eyes and the media, the educational system and the federal “departments” are the catalysts. Wake up patriots and good people. People these days are generally not too keen on clicking on 2 3/4 hour videos. 2. 250K views on a video published by a 150K sub channel already is a pretty decent result. No "algorithmic suppression", "ill-gotten gains", or "mass reporting" excuses required at all. Just pretty standard KZbin economics.

I've been doing a little bit of Scott Adams type tweaking when I argued that slavery was not immoral .. at that time. Well, African tribal chiefs did slavery for 50 centuries, and with Muz for 6 centuries before Europeans. They argued and even waged war against Europeans, continue slavery. The movie Woman-King celebrates Dahomey who were fighting French abolitionists. There's a list of the top 10 African slave trading countries. Tribes killed and enslaved other tribes, but it's true that they didn't come up with an attempt at a scientific racial justification, because justification wasn't necessary to counter a sense of guilt that they didn't possess. Slavery became morally wrong when Western Christians DECLARED individual rights and DECLARED it was morally wrong. Of course that idea didn't catch on immediately after 5000 to 10000 years when conquest and subjugation was perfectly normal.
@gg_rider

I also wanted to say directly to your comment, some people think Marxism just means something superficial equal rights, shared prosperity, hating the super rich. They don't understand the implications of no individual property and no bourgeois human rights. Mass murder of 10s of millions of ordinary people and even poor farmers could be justified by Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot etc as necessary for the greater future good of Communist Utopia. People don't know that, I think. Heck, I didn't know that in any detail until a few years ago.

It is very similar to communist utopia states of Eastern Europe in the second part of the XX. century - those were fueled by Soviet-Russian and French greed and imperialism - they wanted to get rid of all the intellectuals and the property owners of these countries and to get absolute power and control over these newly created states.

1:33:23 They tried to make me do DEI training at my previous company. Back then I didn't even know what it was (it was still fairly new in the Netherlands, where I live), but it sounded pointless to me because it was not based on any practical problems we had at our company (and from my experience but also from the very diverse colleagues I was close with, there weren't any structural DEI-related issues in the normal work environment nor in the hiring process). So obviously I refused to do it and suggested others to do the same. And if you can't explain to me how my that would violate my employment contract, I call BS. When I read some articles about what a scam it actually is and when our (US-based) management also tried pushing an online course thing about "unconscious bias" (I briefly looked at it for some fun & gigs and it was clearly meant for an American audience anyway), I knew enough and got the hell out of that company as fast as I could.
