Socrates said, Know Thyself To know ourselves we must understand ourselves and to understand ourselves is to understand our nature. Scientists tell us that we can nurture our nature. But to nurture like somebody mentioned we must have nature meaning we must be aware of our nature or what causes us to stumble. Nature and nurture go hand in hand. It is to nurture ourselves that we must understand our nature. And that is why Robert Green's book fascinates me. Henry Miller has said, man has managed to conquer the whole world except his own nature. How true it is! For anyone interested in serious self-development the first step is to understand the human weakness which is our nature.

Every time i hear Robert Greene speak i can't help but think of IFS, parts work and the shadow shelf. I haven't red the books yet and wonder if this is accounted for in relation to trauma etc but it's a model that can give you a deeper understanding of your self, your parts, connecting with them and just having more of a compassionate relationship with your parts you may not even be aware of that can really cause issues you may not ever be aware of without doing the work.

Hey barry thanks for a great interview, I noticed you never interviewed Robert for his book the 50th law
@italiancapo75 жыл бұрын
Yes he interviewed Robert Greene for every single book he’s written except 50th law
@stm.natural_selection5 жыл бұрын
50th Law weighs heavily towards 50 cents life and therefore doesn't warrant the kind of Q & A that has traditionally occured when Mr. Greene touches on a fundamental topic such as Mastery, Seduction or perhaps Power.

Suppose you analize something . After analyzing you decide to do it . Who took the decision ? Without feelings the doubt would have gone on forever . You disect something , but disection can go on forever , and analyzing can also go on forever. A decision is like the "quanta" in the electrons . An electron "absorbs" the quanta and "jumps" an electronic level higher . A decision is a "jump" which passes the infinitesimal parts of analyzing .
@dennisr.levesque23204 жыл бұрын
This was a good episode (sort of). Everything (sort of) that was said, I agree with (sort of). But, one thing that I have trouble with (sort of), is the phrase, "who you ARE at the core". You both skipped over (sort of) how that term implies a permanency (as does the term "law"), as if it cannot be changed. This is where mindfulness comes in. One's character (thru mindfulness) can transform from one state (an "are") to another (change/grow). You did touch on this superficially, but kept going back to the terms "are" and "law". Maybe this was because of a lack of better terms, But, to me this is the most important part. I think that if we can transcend our own consciousness, then we can change these "laws" and what/who we "are" (far fetched?). Regardless, this episode is a good example of why I like your program title "Between The Lines". There's a lot that goes on between the lines. If only we can read between the lines better.....
