I recently got a little bengal kitten and I've been going through and watching so many of these videos to give Zuri a happy and healthy life, in my opinion, Albert and Mia's content is the most educational I find! These videos are super helpful, and have made me understand how to really care and bond with Zuri as a first-time cat owner.

When I adopted my cat, it was like 2 months old, he was from the street and he was with diarrhea and coudn't control himself, specially when he got anxious but he was so smart that tried most of the time to go to the litterbox :,3 a pretty challenging beginning I had with Luffy (my lovely almost 5 months cat :3)

I just discovered your videos and really appreciate them..but! On this topic I have to tell you about my litter box (in my humble opinion the best style, not necessarily the brand but the style of it, litter box ). It is the peewee and it uses organic wood pallets. You have the pallets and underneath a sieve. When the pallets get wet they dissolve into really small peace’s and fall truh the sieve. You have to take out the poop separately and from the bottom layer you can collect the litter with the pee (I hope this makes sense. On top it does not smell at all!!

I've managed to train my kitten to use the toilet as I currently live in a small apartment and not much room for a litter box to be placed comfortably. He does use a travel litter box when we're away from home in another state or out of the country. I agree with you on the keeping an eye on color and consistency of the stool and I ran into that particular problem early on (he ended up using my bathmat and shower as his new toilet areas when he was sick). Thankfully, I work part time from home and I'm able to keep an eye on him when he uses the toilet. The vet and I worked together to determine the health issues he was facing and he is doing beautifully now. All your videos have been tremendously helpful with training and bonding with my kitten. Thank you for taking the time to make such great informative videos!

One of my cats occasionally pees over the end of jumbo size litter boxes. She's only 10 pounds but she's a little long and doesn't always squat low. I have one litter box that's big enough but it's expensive and I have 3 cats. Since all the cats like that box just fine and it's covered and pretty, I put it in the living room. The other 3 boxes are big, clear, plastic Sterilite boxes (32Lx19Wx13.75D in inches) with a hole cut in one side (end or side depending on placement of box). The sides are high enough that she doesn't pee over them and they're clear so the cats can see what's going on around them, which adds to their sense of security. I leave the lid off so that they can also jump out the top if they want. The other bonus is that it's big enough inside to push the litter away from the entrance. This is especially helpful for my elderly, arthritic cat because there's a solid surface to help her with her balance as she gets into the box instead of going from solid floor right into shifting litter as she lifts her legs over the 3-inch entrance of that box. The price of all 3 Sterilite boxes cost the same as the one actual litter box. One thing I would note is that if you use a heavy type of litter, these boxes will be difficult to move around. I use wood pellet litter, so that isn't an issue for me as it's fairly light.

I found my one year old marble Bengal cat very tidy using his litter box but I still could find the litter sand everywhere in the house, even upstairs which kept me vacuuming several times per day. It was exhausting and time consuming. The scary thing was when I accidentally put small amount of the litter sand in the laundry sink while cleaning his litter mat and it instantly became concrete like. It gave me the idea what is happening in my cat's stomach when he is licking his paws trying to get rid of the sand and why he is vomiting sometimes. I started using wooden pine pellets instead this cement like sand. It was life changing - no mess around at all, nice natural smell of pine tree and much cheaper than litter sand.

I totally agree with you after trying different solutions for my cat (brown bengal girl). At first we started with an open litter box but some higher sprays would go outside, so we went with the close box but she wasn’t really liking it. Now I bought an open box that looks exactly like the one from tuft & paw from this video (unfortunately they don’t ship to Italy so I had to find a close alternative) and she is loving it! I have to say she isn’t too difficult as she often 💩 or 💦 in the garden or in other cat’s litters when we go outside 😂 now we are getting another bengal and I am hoping not to have any issue, also thinking of where to put the new litter as we have a small apartment

@@OutdoorBengal I would love to try something similar to the aluminum box from tuft + paw because I’d have to place it in the living room and it kinda looks like a trunk… my issue with the close box was that it wasn’t high enough but that one looks pretty big and the aluminum feels durable/easy to clean

We have 3 female cats. Two of them are 7, spayed and 95% indoor. The 3rd is 7 months, getting spayed in 2 weeks and desperate to spend time outside! We have 1 litter box. It is one of those big boxes with a lid that has a large opening in the top at one end. We use scentless litter from Costco (the one in the plastic jug) and the box is changed every Sunday night. There is no smell, no kicked out litter. and no peeing or pooping anywhere else in this big house. The worse problem is when one of the older girls is in it and the younger one, Tillie, feels the need to sit and peer in! The growling from the inside is intense, especially from Elizabeth Anne who loves any reason to complain about anything. It works for us, so I don't have any plans on changing.

Everyone always says where NOT to put the box and never where TO put it. My cat uses her box to urinate but rarely to poop. We are constantly cleaning up the carpet and wondering what we’re doing wrong. We’ve had her tray in exposed and more hidden spots in the front room, in the hallway, in the bathroom. She pees in it so she can find it. She’s never peed on the floor. But her poop often ends up on the floor. I’ve tried catsan litter, clumping litter and now we’re on wood pellets. Obviously cars don’t react to being told off usually so I don’t know how to teach her that what she’s doing is wrong. In our last home, she pooped in the same spot under the table a couple times but I moved her tray to that spot and it fixed the problem, in this new house though she’s used the floor instead more and more frequently. This is our first couple weeks in this home so maybe the change is just too much but idk she’s been in a lot of places over the last couple months and been able to figure it out so idk I’m just looking for some advice Note: vet appointment will be scheduled for next month when I have that money but if there’s anything I can do in the meantime please help!

Thank you so much for the thorough answer! I hope I helped a bit. If it was not clear, the best place to put the litterbox (particularly when your cat is already making mistakes) is where your cat is making the mistakes. Sometimes cats won't use the litterbox for their #1 because they don't like the litter or it's not too clean. Have you tried different types of litter? That's a crazy good memory Taylor. I tried to train Mia when I first got her. She made the biggest dump of her life on my bed. I then did more research to find out that's super unnatural and uncomfortable for them and she did that to let me know that she was not okay with that. It's a clear example of not respecting the compromise and the balance of our cat's nature. A good litter and a regular clean makes the best solution in my opinion. :)

Why don't you try to train your cat to just go to the toilet? It's super easy, there is a toilet cover for that from which you slowly cut out pieces until no actual litter is left. Flushing is a lot more challenging, but also possible(if the cat is strong/heavy enough to push the button on top of the toilet tank, or if you have a lever that's much simpler for the cat).

How do you get your cat to cover their business in the litter box?
@OutdoorBengal2 жыл бұрын
This is somethig that happens mostly on cats that were removed from their moms too early or on cats that are too confident and don't care about not covering their smell. Either way, it's hard to teach them. What you can do is encourage the behavior by rewarding them when it happens. Click, then reward. I would also consider visiting a vet just in case there's a health problem that's causing it (pain when using the litter and rushing out of it because they link the litter with something painful).

It's the point I make in the video about finding the right balance and not pushing our cats too far away from their comfort zone. At the beginning of having Mia I tried and she made the biggest dump in the middle of my bed. That was the trigger to learn more about cats and how to keep them happy. The RAW cat is the happiest cat. The cat that can play and hunt, that is active and mentally stimulated and lives as close as how they would live in the wild. Peeing in a toilet is not it. They like scratching and buring in sand, that's what they are programmed for and not doing it creates anxiety and litter-box problems. It's a no-no for me.
