Again, it's "The *WANTON* Song," not "The *WONTON* Song." Zep didn't dedicate an entire song to their favorite Chinese dish. 😆 LOL!

This one may be the best value of the remasters series. It's an intriguing album that needs to be listened to many, many times. The bonus material can shed light on the original recordings and the packaging is well designed.

Excellent review and insight as always. Have all of theses remasters and "The Rover" is also my favorite track on my favorite Zep record.

This album simply was Bonham showing the globe that He WAS and still is the most powerful skillful drummer that ever lived

The Rover. I remember a nasty looking pub fight was about to break out in Battersea (sth London by the river) and The Rover came on the jukebox,i quickly told the guvnor to crank it and bang,the fight atmosphere turned into a party and we had a lock-in. Led Zeppelin,they stop fights !

I became a fanatic aged 15 in 1969 when their debut crashed into my brain. Do the Zep-a-thon. All 9 albums back to back. well worth it.

I sure do hope Page focuses on some live material, such as the gig included in the Led Zep I reissue. I'd pay any price for some 'cleaned up' versions of their classic gigs.

Led Zeppelin is by far a recording band. Some of the best recorded music ever produced. Jimmy Page was always imaged to be a hard partying crazy man during Zep days. I doubt that very much. He was carefully crafting the image and most importantly writing and producing some of the greatest recordings ever. Live? they were great, incredible for a three piece. But the records - my god, they are something out of this world (flying saucer ques in)

I have listened to over 400 zeppelin concerts and I can sadly say that no other band comes close live. The are creating(not jamming), and bonham is a far better drummer than anyone thinks
@benedictdonald43385 жыл бұрын
greatest hard rock album of all time, IMO. It's heavier than many, many metal albums.
@jerryattwooll48645 жыл бұрын
Oh boy are you so right about that. Custard Pie, The Rover, In My Time etc., Sick Again, The Wanton Song and others, a collection of some of the greatest and heaviest hard rock (not metal) ever released on one album.

For my money - EVERY Zep album is a classic. I've owned every Zeppelin album on every format thru the decades, the recent Page remasters being my 3rd go-round on CDs. My favorite? Presence. And In Through The Out Door has been really growing on me here since the remasters. Another great video, Pete.

Gotta say that 8-minute songs were NOT taboo back in the day, they were the norm. They are taboo NOW.

The only thing I'd disagree with is that the companion disc is worthy of repeated listens. Other than the alternate version of In The Light, I find the PG companion disc to be largely forgettable. In fact all of the companions for LZ IV through Physical Graffiti were pretty dull as well as the comp for 'In Through The Out Door.' The "rough mix" of Kashmir is particularly questionable. I challenge anyone to point out substantial differences between it and the original track. Its virtually identical.

I love your other videos Sea of Tranquility . . . but this one breaks my heart simply because I am pleading for a justest redone of this great album whom Jimmy simply destroyed with a poor lazy effort in remastering it. He destroyed the Rover & Kashmir by losing its original dynamic colors are missing with a tinty sound . . The box sets a over kill adding to the more lazy effort . . why not put them on Blue-ray for all those without Vinyl . . All Jimmy page did was is favor Vinyl fans . . CD's cant display the high fidelity sound so why was he to lazy to give us a DVD or Blu-Ray high fidelity version . . we music lovers are not going to go with the evil elites of streaming music in the future. . Those millions like myself who use DVD -Blue-Ray for high fidelity will have our players around for another 15 -20 years . . . . so why did Jimmy leave us out ??
