When you tell me these examples, I'm immediately wondering how many are cherry picked and do not represent what usually happens, and those examples sound a little extreme. Also, if people are facing backlash just for being conservative, that's a problem as no one should be hated or silenced just for being a certain thing. Of course, I think my country has a partisan issue and that our conservative party has a number of issues as well...but anyway, again when I see examples of these things, I wonder if they were just voicing an opinion or if there was an actual issue underneath. Like when people spout hate speech but think that that's protected under free speech and is harmless. And again, I'm wondering if this is cherry picked and does not represent what is typically happening. It could be just one jerk somewhere silencing someone. Maybe not. My experience being around pretty liberal areas and people has been filled with openness to different ideas, including conservative ideas. But anyway, getting to the real point...you don't seem to know what Hate Speech is. Hate speech is not saying "I hate you" or any ole negative thing about someone. Restricting that would be ridiculous. Hate speech is the type of thing that leads to violence. The social media posts of many shooters have been found to be filled with hate speech targeted towards certain groups. It's basically just an expression of genuine prejudice towards people. More importantly, it is absolutely not protected under the first amendment. Free speech has always been a limitable right because it can be used to do harm, and hate speech is 100% harmful.

Colbert worked with Stewart at one point, I think? Some time before Stephen got his own show. In any case, since we no longer have the Colbert Report, I see absolutely no reason why at least one other show in the same format shouldn't exist. It's common enough in TV; some "program formats" get re-used in different, localized variants all over the world. If Big Brother is allowed to do it, amusingly informative comedy shows sure as fuck have permission too.
