As an 80s kid, this, excalibur, the conan movies, legend, robin hood (the errol flynn version) and willow awakened my love for medieval history, mythology, and fantasy. It will always hold a place in my heart! Thanks for making this video for all to enjoy!

This movie holds a special place in my heart. My husband and I were married in 1980 and we watched this movie once a year until his death from cancer in 2020. The film aged as we did yet the story and stop motion was always meaningful to us. We bred and raised horses for 40 yrs and each time we turned them out of the barnyard into the field we would say to each other "Release the Krackens!" as our own inside joke. I still watch this movie each year and although I am down to only two horses now I still whisper "Releases the Krackens" each day when I turn them out in honor. The memories are strong, painful yet beautiful with this one. Fly on Pegasus! and ride on my husband, the only man I ever did or ever will love. Forever

This was always on TV in the UK during the 80s, as you say, at Easter and Christmas...

This came out on my 10th birthday and I had the choice between this and Superman 2! I'm so glad I chose Clash of the Titans! 😂 It opened a whole new world for me and my imagination! I seen Superman 2 a few years later on television! We take for granted these days how easy it is to watch various content. Anyway great retrospective!

Thanks so much for kind feedback 🙏 unfortunately that’s so true when you have so much content it doesn’t always make for great viewing and so disposable! Thanks for watching 🙏

When I was a kid it was funny seeing "the guy from LA LAW prancing around in a Toga". I remember it on TV at Xmas a lot and I also remember the video at our local Video Store. But I never have seen it all the way through. However! This will now change, your video has made me want to explore this film in full. Thank you Sir!

Thanks for the comments Ben ! Yes hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I did. Although nostalgia plays a part, it’s still enjoyable enough and the appreciation of harryhausen’s craft makes it a must see ! Thanks for watching 🙏

I loved this movie. I’m a big fan of Greek mythology. I loved the stop motion animation. It showed anything was possible. I did not care for the remake at all.

Very good review. Yeah, this film (for me) falls in the category of being more interested in the making of the film, rather than the film itself. I miss this style of filmmaking so much! I read that Douglas Trumbull wanted to make a movie almost entirely with miniatures, and have it be epic in scale. That was back in 2016, and yet, nothing has happened. I have an interview with Harry Hamlin, where he says during his refusal to work, because of the Medusa segment, that they turned the air conditioning off on his trailer to try and make him come out. He was sticking to his guns!

Thanks so much for the comment! Of course it’s not everybody’s cup of tea ! Like you I miss the artistry behind these movies. There’s a great short stop motion on KZbin called “Rebooted” that’s a love letter to harryhausen’s work ! Have admire Hamlin’s determination! Thanks for watching 🙏

Have you played the original God of War trilogy on the PlayStation? It is a love letter to anyone who enjoyed this movie and Greek mythology. Because the games were made by dedicated fans of CotT and Jason Argonauts movies 😊

Jim Danforth and the late Steven Archer also assisted Ray Harryhausen with Stop-Motion on this film.

One of the great travesties of the academy awards was Ray Harryhausen getting snubbed out of an Oscar nomination for his work on Clash Of The Titans.

I watch this movie almost every week when it would be on HBO. Often it was Saturday morning. This was one of the last movies of the genre. The feel and tone of the movies was still the 1970s. Perseus was an early indication of my sexuality. Harry would have made a good Jim Morrison if a Doors movie was made back then. I see that he is still acting, and still looks very healthy. The rest of the cast was just wonderful. Burgess Meredith man. The guy was a pro and a delight. It had a lot of nudity for a PG movie. I'm not complaining. The remake really wasn't good enough, or perhaps it was too good. It just didn't do much for me. It got a sequel, so I guess it did have an audience.

I never saw this as a kid, Jason and the Argonauts though was one of my favourites. I caught it recently though and thought it was a lot of fun. I thought it succeeded in showing such an imaginative and rich world, the blend of the human and the mythical. I thought it didn't try to modernise the themes or put in any modern updated messages but stayed true to its roots. The only complaint I had was the owl seemed too obvious an R2D2 thing, i know star waes was massive right then. Its well paced and the ending was great. Plus Judi Bowker was so beautiful then, definitely well cast. The locations, costumes and art design also were great i thought. Not much not to like.

CLASH OF THE TITANS ISNT the most charismatic among the Ray Harryhausen portfolio. the Gods seemed...dull and bored I thought (with the exception of Lawrence Olivier) who made a perfect Zeus. Harry Hamlyn & the snobby Judy Bowker (when was the last time you saw a honey blonde Greek Princess) were both as wooden as a rocking chair also, the film wasnt helped as you mention by STAR WARS seeming to feel under pressure to use sfx for comic relief KRULL made the the same mistakes, as did WILLOW. In fact the only film to take leaves from the STAR WARS BOOK & succeed was 1981s- DRAGON SLAYER (and that was in the sense of plot rather than the visual) I never got a sense of Empire like in ancient Rome, with thousands of citizens being seen, perhaps because of budget, ironic considering this was the most expensive of Harryhausen's films. BUT the animation effects are as good as ever, especially - the Kraken & the Medusa
