This was such a good video, I didn't know Circe had something or rather anything to do with Artoria, so that came as a surprise, Artoria and Morgan's in fate is also questionable to say the least, thanks to the Lostbelt because in act 2 of when a Planet is born I think I read that they are actual blood related siblings though I believe it to be true for the Lostbelt versions of the characters still it makes ones head go to places.

I know this is insane question but are you considering doing the other versions of artoria too? If not I understand, just Castoria by herself might be as long as regular Artoria, considering that Nasu wrote such a fire character that he did her again with a new origin and characteristics but still be as great the orinigal. It would be cool to see the comparisons and differences of both them. Great vid and can’t wait for next part of the series.

Interesting, as a new yter you dont really see in depth nasuverse lore videos about TM in this fashion outside of specific TM KZbinrs. Besides them you usually just get a lot of misinformation by people who have only seen zero and maybe 2006, ubw 2014 and hf trilogy. And especially since you went back and read garden of avalon(and hopefully the FSN and HA visual novels). These videos that your making are really important. So you get a sub from me

Hello! Great video I really enjoyed watching the videos you put your time and effort in. You're doing an amazing job keep it up! I have one question about Artoria's character, and I would like to know your opinion on the matter and/or if you're going to talk about it in the future videos. As we know Artoria's character has been depicted wrong in Fate Zero, for example like how After making a contract with the world, she from the beginning wanted to be replaced as a king but fate zero changes that to her wanting to redo her reign even tho that doesnt make sense. Or how she was seen happy in zero even though she never was happy, moments where her honour that took priority over winning a battle she needed to win when she hasnt done that in her life, ofcourse there was honour but what came first is her people and her goal. Or even the whole banquet scene with gil and iskander . In Fate Strage Fake the banquet scene is adressed and corrected I think. But I was wondering if you will tackle this issue in your future videos as well to not cause any confusion. Because Artoria's character is really good as you explained in this video but a lot of fans have a bad view on her because of fate zero when shes completely different in the source material..

Thanks! And that’s a great point, which I believe someone else has also brought up. Part 2 of this video will involve Fate Zero along with all three FSN routes. I’m honestly not sure how to address the error in the way her character was depicted in Fate Zero. I don’t think I’ll address it from a “correction” point of view, but I’ll try my best to incorporate more of the elements from Zero that they actually got right about her character. It’s honestly a bit of a shame since I love Zero the most. If you’ve got any ideas on how I can go about it, then I’d love to hear! Thanks for commenting!

@@mocha13 hi! I’m not sure how to exactly go about it to be honest. I just know like from my own experiences and what ive noticed and heard that in zero she is being depicted not as determined or just much a much gentler version of herself you know. Like if we talk about the scene with iskander gil and artoria, when iskander and gil attacked her ideals when having no idea about what she has gone through or how she lived, she just stood there taking everything and letting herself get attacked when in all honesty her way of kingship is as admirable or maybe even more than theirs. But she didnt try to defend herself which is wrong because she lived her life with a strong exterior she didnt show weakness when others judged her and also when you look at for example the fate route of FSN, when shirou questioned her ideals, not even attacked it but questioned it, she got really upset and was defending her points and fighting back against the words he was saying to her. Realistically seen, considering how she lived her life she wouldnt care about what iskander and gil are saying and shed keep the cold exterior and focus on her goal. You could also look at how she handled criticism in the fate route and dive into what Richard said about the banquet scene in fate strange fake Another small example was when she fought lancer from fate zero and let her honour have priority over her ideals (she didnt want to heal her wounds that he gave her) which again doesnt make sense, her whole reason for being in the grail war is because she desperately wants to win for her kingdom. If u look at FSN, in the fate and HF route when she was first summoned she doesnt hesitate and instantly fights without trying to talk first or get to know them for honours sake, she instantly attacks lancer and injures archer (not in ubw ofc since shirou stops her). Another point is when she gets upset at the way kiritsugu goes about winning the war, artoria out of all people should know and relate to kiritsugu because she knows from her own life that in wars some things just needs to be done and she is not there for fun but she is desperate to win for her own people. Her whole reason of winning the war in zero “redo her reign” is wrong, from the moment she was going to pull out caliburn, she from the beginning wished for someone better than her. And at the end of her life that was her wish, for someone better to replace her and be king of brittain. Obviously in FSN she came to learn through shirou that she should accept her fate and that it is infact fate for everything to happen like that. Being proud of her reign and not regret it. And she learned that the grail was corrupted which ultimately destroyed her chance of getting her wish granted, whenn in zero she doesnt know that and was forced to destroy the grail. But thats kindof it the rest is fine I assume. Off topic but i wanted to say this, its really crazy how similar artoria is to shirou if you think about it, sooo beautiful.

1:26 bit of a nitpick but magical energy* magic is a whole nother thing 7:00 this isnt fully correct avalon is only a part of the reverse side of the world specificaly located at the same place that britian would be located in 26:30 vortigern is not just an evil king Vortigern was born by Britain itself interfering with his conception, making him something more than human. He was the incarnation of the will that tried to reject the Age of Man. He had drank the blood of the white dragon, lost his humanity, and become the very will and avatar of Britain. he IS britian itself rejecting the age of man aka the dissipation of mystery and as he died with his defeat the age of Mystery in Britain would inevitably end, and arthuria own dragon essence was at odds with the Age of Man that was to come. As long as she existed, Britain had no future because her existence is against the age of man.

"fate zero and its sequel" fate/stay night and the prequel* FSN came first zero is also not the best of sources here while it adds to the backstory with lancelot arthuria herself is a completly different character in terms of personality in fate/zero which is 1 of the biggest complains of fate/zero the video is great tho

That’s a great point, I haven’t scripted the second part of this video yet but I’ll try to remember to include that. Also, while I agree Artoria is a very different character in Zero, I think the way it’s structured allows for a rather poetic analysis - or at least, I have an interesting idea that I’d like to try regarding it. @@mocha13 you could do it but its better if you only include the part urobuchi got right the conversation of kings with the argument against iskandar and the backsktory and fight with lancelot and how in the end arthuria misunderstands the lesson instead of giving up on her wish to restart everything she doubles down on it as now she belives someone else should have become king and dont include stuff like her overly naive and chivalrous nature and her entire conflict with kiritsugu since this part of fate/zero only exists if arthuria isnt herself and the conflict in its entierty contredicts who arthuria was in life and who she is in FSN

Yeah, you’re right. My main focus (for the Fate Zero section of the video) was always going to be Artoria’s conversation with Iskandar and Gil. I’m hesitant about completely omitting her interactions with Kiritsugu because I do think some important themes are explored there, even if inaccurate. That being said, it’s not a character analysis video by any means nor is it a video delving into the writing of Fate Zero, so just like you said, it’s probably best to stay clear of it in order to stay faithful to Artoria’s character in FSN (which is what the bulk of the video will consist of anyway). My main stumbling block right now is how I want to present the video because that will greatly influence the type of script I end up with. I’m leaning towards a Vaatividya style (if you know him) and almost making it like a movie, but we’ll see what happens. Thanks for the advice!
