Same. I turned 43 in June of 2022. Is it just me or was our generation conditioned to believe that we could be whatever we wanted when we grow up?

Billie was worried that they’d try to arrest her if she walked out there with Lloyd. If that were the case, and they actually DID try to arrest her, it would only be Binx… once he’s in handcuffs and the police start to wonder the same thing? Billie could just slip into the crowd and disappear. With her still on the run, her “legend” stays alive and she can ONCE AGAIN, do what she can to raise the $608, or a new bike. “Fair is fair.” Now granted, there’s probably a scene missing to explain this… and it was more than likely cut for pacing. Regardless, it’s not that big of a plot hole. The whole point is Billie being this mythical figure. They were going to protect her anonymity at all costs. It’s why Binx was willing to take the fall, the three imposters tried to turn themselves in, and why Potter joins the “cause.” Billie became like, an idea. The idea that “fair is fair,” and they weren’t going to let the cops take her down before they got what they were owed. That all dies if she’s arrested…

Ahhh that makes sense! I also have a feeling there's a cut scene somewhere that it explains it further. It's been years since I've watched this movie, so I might have to give it a rewatch in the near future!

I grew up watching this movie. This was a "girl power" movie without the reminder of girl power. Yeah, this movie was my empowerment to stand up for my beliefs. I'd take this movie any day than the high gloss whatever forced feminism movie of today.

Hi! 80s child here. I loved this movie as a kid(I'm 41 now). About Binks dressing as Billie Jean? Absolutely NO ONE knows why he did that or what the plan was. It makes no sense and never gets explains. No one understands this plot point. Dont feel bad you didnt understand that. The writer probably doesnt even know why lol The movie is actually terrible, but in that good way where it's a classic that us old people love lol. But the plot really doesnt make much sense and it's pretty ridiculous but fun to watch. Glad you liked it :D My gen Z daughters love the 80s and 90s culture and we like watching movies I grew up with.

44 here with 100's of views , I think the point was for her to go blend in with the crowd to confirm there was a new bike and get close to Pyatt undetected.

The reason Binx dressed up as Billie Jean was because they wanted to make sure that the scooter was actually fixed and it wasn't just a trap.

I absolutely loved the movie! Standing up for what's right. She also saves the boy that was getting abused by his father. That part really showed Billie Jean's bravery and what kind of person she wanted to be. To inspire others not to just roll over and take it.

I had the same impression. I loved the song invincible, which I'd heard first and I think I saw the music video too. I also had a crush on Helen Slater, but the movie, when I finally saw it on cable, was a bit of a letdown. Looking back, you could argue that it was honest. That's what a real life "legend" is more like, a teenager who evades cops, shows up unexpected and proves her innocence, but watching it for the first time, with much anticipation and excitement, I was a little let down too.

Me too, I was in Corpus at Baker Jr High, then Carroll HS from 1983 to 1987, spent a lot of time at Sunrise back then. It's completely abandoned now. Corpus was an awesome place to be a kid, and the Legend of Billie Jean does capture that....even shows Magic Isles, and mentions C101. I was hoping to see a Maverick Market, but no such luck.

Your parents too, about the same generation. We saw blood, violence , sex comedies and all the best movies were rated R or at least had some nudity and swearing, If your family did not allow, you went over to a friend on your block who's family did allow. That's just how we rolled!

Hubie's buddy took the pic. You was wondering who took it. If you pay attention when Hubie and his buddies show up to the lake when they steal the scooter one of his buddies has a camera and is just randomly taking pics and right when Billie Jean is getting out of the lake it shows him snapping the photo. Hopefully I solved that for you I'm sure you was loosing sleep

I watched this for the first time since I was very young, and I enjoyed it. Obviously for other reasons than I did as a kid. It's of its time, and couldn't be made today. I mean, Billy Jean's exploits going viral would make more sense today than it did back then, but there would be very little of a "legend" since everything would be recorded by surveillance or cell phones, and the kids would be caught right away using their cell phones.
@Iahusha777Iahuah2 жыл бұрын
Buy the way the picture of Billy Jean was taken when the guys took pictures of themselves commiting a crime and stealing his bike. I was mad because she didn't tell the cop on the phone or with the video to the world that the skimbag tried to rape her and make her have sex for 50$ each time until it reached the 608. and as she was trying to get away her brother legally caught him and told him to stop at gun point which is technically legal for sexual assault and false imprisonment and that the shooting was accidental. It bothered me so much and you are right they should have carried that energy they had when she cut her hair

Yeah they kinda blew it in the third act. The goal wasn't really clear. Was it about a new bike? An apology? To simply clear their names? Regardless of the goal, the setup with Binx in drag feels like we're missing a scene. But I think the movie more or less redeems itself with the public feeling guilty for getting caught up in the hoopla and torching their BJ gear. Even then, what was the lesson they learned? I love this movie but after 35 years I'm starting to realize it makes no sense. If anything the film should be on indictment on poor policing. They were going for a Harvey Keitel in Thelma and Louise thing with Peter Coyote, but really the whole thing could have been avoided if he'd just done his job and prosecuted Huby for assault and theft of a registered motor vehicle. I mean he straight carjacked Binx. I guess the point was that Coyote's character felt guilty for not doing his job and let it spiral out of control. Maybe the movie tried to make too many points. I wouldn't call it over ambitious exactly, I think it just couldn't settle on an identity. It still kicks ass, I did a rewatch the other day, still holds up with me.
