@@moneylover318 Yep very true, she has elements of both. One funny thing about her dynamic with Lin is that they butted heads exactly *because* they had similar traits. And then Lin came to trust Korra because of those same traits. One thing Korra never had, though, was Su's sneakiness. As loving and motherly as Su is, you better not mess with her or her loved ones, because she'll stab you in the back if she can, and she'll tell you that you deserved it. You really don't want to be on the receiving end of a Su Grudge.

I never get tired of seeing Lin's backstory, not just because we get to see Toph again, but because it explains so much about why Lin is so bitter and angry all the time. Also, when she woke up as a calmer, friendlier person, did anyone else notice the similarity to when Zuko passed out for a long time, after he made the decision to release Appa and give up on pursuing the Avatar (at that moment in time)? If this episode is any indication, it would seem that it's a pretty common thing in the Avatar-verse, for one to go through a major transformative experience after abandoning something that had been a HUGE part of their life for so long. For Zuko, it was his obsession with capturing the Avatar and regaining his honor; and for Lin, it was her refusal to let go of her anger towards Suyin and her mother. Speaking of which, 30 years really is a long time to hold a grudge. It's especially messed up when you think about the fact that Toph and Su actually reconciled over what had happened, while Lin refused to have anything to do with it. Oh, and I may be reading into it a little, but the one part where Lin hallucinates Korra as a younger Su, it seems like that was a subtle way of explaining why she disliked Korra, because she reminds her of her estranged sister.

Something I find cool about Bolin is that if you look into HOW he earthbends, it makes sense that metal isn't quite up his alley. In season 1, Bolin teaches Korra about staying light on your feet while earthbending. His style is a lot less rigid and sturdy, because of his history with probending. Even personality wise, he's a bit of push-over. He's still an earthbender, but he's a very loose one, where-as metalbending is a lot more rigid. On top of that, it's a lot more technical, rather than free-flowing. It's basically the earth equivalent of bloodbending; a puppeteering style of bending. Doesn't quite fit Bolin, same as how Aang had so much trouble with earthbending to begin with. In contrast to Toph, he'd probably do quite well with sandbending, actually.

I think there's also a point that none of them had a proper childhood. Although some people are good parents naturally (like Katara, who we get the impression of being a really good mother to her 3 kids), most need a good role model to follow. Sokka grew without his parents around, Aang's childhood was completely parentless, his mission as the Avatar took pretty much his whole childhood, and while Toph *did* have role models, they were more models of what the fuck *not* to do. She ended up being a parent who only knew one way to *not* be a horrible parent. She tried her best to avoid doing that, so much that she ended up being a bad parent on the exact opposite way.

Even if Su did make the effort to reach out, at that very moment with Lin, she didn't put in any of the work. Reconciliation should come from both parties, both need to be willing to make it work, but Su acted entitled and acted like she owed Lin Nothing. Ignoring for a moment the whole issue of who is morally superiour here, Lin is clearly mentally strained in the moment they fight and the moments leading up to it! Su resulted to, once again, act like she doesn't owe Lin anything, acting arrogant which can only fuel the fire of anger, it doesn't take a genious to understand that! But that situation could have been easily deflated by Su, if she had just come forward with the apology she had wanted to give Lin. 'I know I hurt you and mom, and I am sorry for that. Lin's sudden attitude turnaround is meant to be a throwback to when Zuko had his own metamorphosis in Ba Sing Se. Remember? Zuko freed Appa, got rid of the blue spirit mask and then got sick. Him waking up and turning a new leaf to help Iroh run the tea shop is what basically happens to Lin.

Suyin can hide in her special metal city and pretend that her whole backstory never happened. She can pretend that she was never a common criminal and that her mother never broke the rules to save her sorry butt. But Lin can never forget. I think with how Lin felt guilty for what Toph had to do and how that supposedly affected her career, it made her develop this long-lasting grudge against her sister. Which is made that much worse when after 30 years, the source of her anger and frustration has been doing very well for herself and on top of that, was very happy all this time. It only added insult to injury for her, and then bringing up Tenzin breaking up with her finally made her explode. With that said, after Lin released all that conflict within herself, her acting so happy and very upbeat afterwards reminded me of Zuko after he underwent his metamorphosis. Seeing a happy Lin unnerved me a bit xD Also, Young Su is voiced by Jessie Flower (Toph's VA) and Young Lin is voiced by Grey DeLisle (Azula/Ming Hua's VA). Suraj, much love to ya! As usual, season 3 continues to be excellent!! again, I've said this before but i'll say it again, the action sequences and fight choreography is LOK is fan-fucking-tastic!!! Love how much Rana is loving this season. Also Korra "got" metal bending so quickly because she's a prodigy bender. That's how she was able to bending 3 of the 4 elements by age 5 like we saw in the very first scene of LOK and master all 3 by age 16 when most Avatars would have just been beginning their training. There have always been prodigy benders in the lore of the show, the same way Azula was a master prodigy fire-bender by age 14, bending blue flame (even more rare than lightning bending) and lightning. Toph was a prodigy bender as well. Zaheer is also a prodigy bender on top of him being a master martial artist, hence why he's so good with air bending and the spiritual side of it.

Lavabending! It's a subskill of Earthbending! Imagine it like waterbenders are able to freeze water, they are like changing the water molecules so it becomes ice. Waterbenders can probably also heat up water (not sure), so a lavabender can manipulate the molecules of earth so it becomes lava.

I always considered it ironic how after seeing Aang and Toph as these epic heroes we learn that they were not the best parents. Not at Ozai levels but clearly making mistakes. Aang played favorites witch left Tenzen felling like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders and his other two kids felling ignored. Toph let her kids run wild witch led to each trying desperately to get their mom's attention though in totally different ways. As much as they loved their kids they clearly were letting their own issues effect their parenting.

Yeah, getting along with siblings is very tricky. I liked how the episode portrayed the way siblings are with each. Me and my sister fought about every little thing and most of the time it ended up with a harsh argument and a few times it was a fight. At the end we would go into a no talking to each other phase until either a few minutes later or next morning we'd patch things up with her making me laugh and us talking through it. My sister and I are much better with talking to each other about stuff the other does that bugs us and now don't result in name calling or throwing books at each other.

Powerful earth benders being able to make earth molten makes sense. Water benders can freeze water. So clearly benders can alter the temperature of the element they're bending if they're powerful enough. I'm sure it's related to the purity of the bending, like lightning or combustion.

In Su's defense she did try to reach out and speak with Lin for 30 years but Lin always blocked the contact, which is totally understandable for Lin to do but to say that Su never reached out to Lin is wrong I agree that you should reflect your rebellious teenager time but at the same time you cannot held on to it for 40 years, people change especially things happening during the teenage times

This show totally gives amazing life advice yesss, You totally should try acupuncture it's great! You don't feel it cause the needle's as thin as one hair. Also reflexology works like magic because the nerves in your hands and feet run through your body so you can control and loosen the muscles through the hands or feet

So there’s two ways to get into the spirit world: You can enter either of the two portals, which is entering it physically and you can still bend (this is what unalaq and a lot of others did in season 2) Or you can meditate into it, which means you won’t be able to bend because only your spirit is there. This is also how Aang entered the spirit world in the Last Airbender and also how Jinora and Korra have done it in season 2. At the end of the episode Zaheer did something that Jinora has done, he projected his spirit out of his body through meditation, (the same way you can get into the spirit world) except he didn’t go into the spirit world, he stayed on earth and focused on Korra’s energy in order to find where she is. This shouldn’t be too strange to you because this is the exact same thing Jinora did earlier in the season to find Kai

Bro we’ve already been told that humans can go into the spirit world first of all Tenzin and Ginora. And then in the last air bender Aang said airbenders all went into the spirit world. I bet that when airbenders were around and people went into the spirit world, there were a lot of air nomads in there. And I think the air nomads from each air temple kind of connected through the spirit world maybe they had conversations or meditating groups in the spirit world.

The original team avatar pretty much had their own way of being parents. I mean Aang had no parents and loved Katara and Sokka as his new family along with gran gran and Hakoda. So he had his own way of thinking when it came to raising three kids. Toph is similar since her parents were strict. They treated her like she would be a burden her whole life. And she didnt get back in touch with her dad until after she former her metal bending school. Naturally, she wanted her daughters to grow up with their own freedom.

I like how you guys were surprised by how Su was when young. Remember that, on top of being a teenager, she is also Toph's daughter, you know, the girl who earthbended the roof and walls out of a house (that belonged to the government of Ba Sing Se) she was living in, shouting "Yeah! Let's break some rules!". Toph was always a rebel before turning that around to be a rule enforcer. Su came full cycle on that too now that she rules her own city. Lin is seen to be mostly law abiding, but she was quick to take off her badge to hunt down Amon outside the law, remember? The Beifongs always struggle with freedom and control and Old Wounds is spot on at that.
