I read the Patterns in Time comics and though I like some of the stories, they were too short and I don't want it in my library.
I like to assume that reading Ruins of the Empire muddled up my mind about Turf Wars because I had to reread Turf Wars during editing to remember all the other non Korra and Asami related things lol.
Forgot to mention Lin in the comic, but she's just there so nothing much to say. Suyin has a bigger role in Ruins of the Empire. Thought about saying this during the recordings, but decided to keep it here instead. The art for Ruins of the Empire fits more with LoK than the art for Turf Wars.

A pompous developer plans to turn the new spirit portal into an amusement park, potentially severing an already tumultuous connection with the spirits. What's more, the triads have realigned and are in a brutal all-out brawl at the city's borders where hundreds of evacuees have relocated!
Written by series cocreator Michael Dante DiMartino and drawn by Irene Koh (Secret Origins: Batgirl, Afrina and the Glass Coffin), with consultation by Bryan Konietzko, this is the official continuation of The Legend of Korra!

20:07 IIRC in the Avatar Wan episodes in season 2 of Legend of Korra they show instances of spirits possessing humans, causing those humans to be physically transformed/become disfigured. And yeah, its bizarre to think that only 10 years ago the most they were able to do with LGBT presentation is to have two women 'gaze' at each other at the very end of the show. The contrast with She-Ra (2018) is massive, even though She-Ra was still being rather circumspect about it, though the *amount* of gay-coded stuff they put into that show is actually ridiculous, haha.

Such a great deep dive! Loved hearing your thoughts, and I LOL'd a few times with the "Stuff" flying out of your mouth, and the Katie Perry Slime stuff too. Also I think it's fair that it's only in the comic, and not on TV.

As a mid 20s guy who had been watching Anime for about 10 years by the time Avatar came on in 2005, I just could not get into the show. It seemed too geared towards kids with what I call "Nickelodeon humor", despite the seemingly more mature story it was telling. By then, I had also grown tired of Shounen anime so it really felt like a Naruto rip off which I didn't like in the first place. When Korra came out, I didn't even give it a chance since I figured it would just be more of the same. But after it ended, a girlfriend I had, told me how Korra was the first gay protagonist in an American cartoon and that gave me hope that perhaps this new series was more mature than its predecessor. So when it became available on Netflix I watched the whole series and while it still had that same type of "Nickelodeon humor", I kept watching mostly because of the dangling cookie of seeing Korra as the first lesbian MC at the end of the series. But while I was truly disappointed that all we got was a hand hold and look as Korrasami went on vacation, by then I had become attached to Korra as a character, which is something that I could never feel for Ang or any of the other characters in the original series. Thank you for this video, I'm not sure if I'm going to buy the comics, since I'm not really interested in the story itself. But it does make me happy to know that Korra is given a proper development that was denied in the TV series

Thank YOU for watching :) Crazy how WILD that Korrasami scene was back when it first aired, and now it's just... barely anything haha. I definitely get what you mean by your attachment to Korra. Even though I know ATLA is better produced, I'm not as attached to the characters as I am with Legend of Korra. Personally, I wouldn't recommend Turf Wars unless you like Korrasami, but I would recommend Ruins of the Empire xP
