Something I never noticed until it was pointed out to me, when Percy is listing the names on his gun, Scanlan points out that he only names 5 of the 6 barrels, and asks who the sixth one is for, Percy himself doesn't answer, but his shadow on the wall behind him clearly shows the intent

Actually I’d guess the shadow is more figurative. Matt and Taliesin have actually confirmed the truth of it (interestingly the answer was something they each came up with independently and then later realized they had the same idea). Basically once all the current names were erased a new set of names would appear. A never ending cycle of targets and hatred. So as said the shadow depiction is likely more figurative not necessary that the sixth barrel is for Percy but more just a never ending path of self destruction as he loses himself in an endless cycle of hate.

they original had a different name before the game started streaming but they decided to rename themselves to something more professional when in game they were meeting with nobles. They eventually decided on "Vox Machina", which is Latin for Sound Machine and a nod to their roles as voice actors. Nothing to do with vex'ahlia or vax'aldon.

Yeah the groin-launched spell is either a reference to one of the early sessions the group had playing the game, but it is also definitely a huge fanservice reference to one of the first CR openings.

So the spell Scandlen was using from the scroll is supposed to be Polymorph (although they may need to rename it for copyright reasons). You do have a grasp on how it works as it is go to spell to transform yourself, however in the game can also be used upon someone else (ie force an enemy into a mouse/something harmless). The forms you can take must be a beast who's challenge rating is less than or equal to the player's level/monster's challenge rating of the target of the spell. When transforming, you can't control the details such as hair/eye color of the new form (ie no stealing another's identity) and you take a form of a fully healthy version of the desired from all stats match your new form except your alignment (ie good vs evil) and ability to distinguish friend/foe. All other abilities such as strength, speed, intelligence and known languages change to match the new form. The spell last for one hour, until the transformed individual's transformed state runs out of health or once the caster breaks their concentration on keeping the spell active (ie give a big enough strike on the caster's head or a big enough distraction and the spell ends early). When transforming back, you return to the exact state you were in prior to casting the spell, however if you transform back because your hp was dropped to zero, any excess damage the transformed form failed to absorb will roll over onto you true self (ie altered from has 15 health and gets hit for 20 damage, you revert back and take 5 damage).

Just an FYI- From interviews, Laura and Liam picked Vax and Vex because they were twins, AND they wanted to mess with Matt. They changed their name to Vox Machina after they started streaming, long after the characters were made. Matt is very good at making sure every character gets their moment to shine, and every character gets their full story arc. They went with Percy first because the Briarwood arc is a fan favorite. CR put out a series of 'behind the scenes / the making of Vox Machina' videos prior to the show's release. Highly recommend you guys watch it.

That was a scroll of Polymorph, the spell lets you shapeshift into an animal you have seen that has a CR equal to or lower than your level. That was an actual thing Scanlan did in the campaign. He went to Vedmire's house and burned the fucker down. It was different in the game, but they represented it pretty well in the series. Both are worth watching it's awesome. Vox Machina is not named in any way after Vex and Vax. Vox Machina is latin for Sound Machine, referencing how they're all voice actors. Before their stream started they decided to change their name to Vox Machina, originally their group was called "The Shits". Eventually in the campaign they decided it was time to be a bit more professional, one part because of the stream they knew was coming and another part because Sovereign Uriel was throwing a parade in their honor and is like "Soooo.... what do you want us to call you? Are you SURE about your name?" like not so subtly hinting ya know?

Vex and Vax are not the namesake of the team. Their names being similar has little to do with it. Percy, in episode 1 ,hinted that it was a "Clever play on words" but was cut off before he could explain. The actual answer would've been too meta. Vox Machina translates from Latin to "voice machine" - a reference to how the Critical Role cast behind these characters are all professional voice actors

And Delilah will use her dark magic to keep him alive so he can suffer in agony until it no longer amuses her

@@chrisriley2321 Spoilers. . . . . .but that was part of the plan. The Briarwoods know VM have a healer on their team, they don't know breaking Pikes holy symbol to remove her from one fight led to a crisis of faith that's completely removed her from play for a bit. Healing potions exists and any adventuring party worth salt would be carrying plenty. Also half the rest of the team have their own healing spells, in the gane they would have seen Scanlan be the one to heal Vax in their first confrontation. Additionally Anders was shown to be 100% in with the Briarwoods, parroting their Whispered One cultish nonsense about "we are his blood".

@@hhylobates4098 "worth thier salt" yes but this is Vox Machina they have trouble with DOORS. And sure they knew they took their holy person out of the fight but they didn't know for how long. True half of the team has a healing spell but most of the healing came from Pike no? She ended up coming back to help through astral projection. And again they could still need her later as a sacrifice or something. She's more useful alive and always has been. If he kills her before the Briarwoods are finished with her they won't be happy
