Keyleth as a character, and by extension the Ashari are inspired by Avatar. They don't shy away from it either. Vilya, Keyleth's mother is voiced by Janet Varney. The voice of Korra.

The Ashari build their villages around the elemental portals, as they are the ones entrusted to protect the material plane from the creatures that might try to pass over. So yes, the structure is built for the portal. Fun little detail: the structure they are standing on is shaped like the Ashari crest.

It's a very clever narrative way to show the Druid unlocks the Fire Elemental form when she levels up!

Keylyth's journey is still one of my favorite. So many takes on elves jump over the cultural difference a culture would have if it's teen years were seen in decades. Love how they represent Keylyth's elven culture.

The town of Pyrah was built specifically to guard the portal to the Fire Plane, there's basically a rift that is usually closed, but never permanently shut. Druids of Pyrah made it their mission to watch over it, hence they are the fire ashari

Ripley is the kind of person, who will always attach themselves to the most powerful player around, hoping to gain by the scraps they get fed. Druids are OP No need to worry about Craven Edge, I am sure Grog can handle it 😀
@johnobrien75628 ай бұрын
In the campaign, Grog had his conversation with Craven Edge in an outhouse in Whitestone, and it was even funnier. Pike has a much more forgiving patron than Vax does. The Everlight is the goddess of Redemption, the Matron the goddess of fate and death. Vax did just get plagued with visions of dragons devastating everything, so being a little reluctant to go on a side quest is understandable. Allura and Kima have been there since Season 1 Episode 1 - Kima asked "who the hell are you?" after Grog's belch, and Allura took them to find the Blue Dragon in the airship. Allura is the most prominent NPC in campaign 1, even more than Gilmore, and the closest thing to Matt Mercer's self insert. Ripley is, as always, on her side.

"The sword can feel frustrated as well?" You should see the campaign moment of when Grog first heard the voice. He asked if Craven Edge had a female setting and if he could call the sword "Bacon." Also, in case you haven't figured it out yet, Keyleth is a Circle of the Moon Druid (which, at level 10, allows one to turn into elementals).

1. Keyleths father is air ashari like keyleth is. 2. Alura and Kema were from season 1. They were in the council discussing the dragon attack episode 1 and 2. Then alura flew the crew to the shale steps on that airship. Alura was also the one to help the crew when the king was under control by the vampire. Alura decided to keep an eye on urial and instead of banishing vox machina like urial wanted she put them under house arrest instead to give then time to figure out the briarwoods plan.

When you see Keyleth's backstory it's not hard to see that her player, Marisha, is a big Avatar fan 😆her ability to use Elemental forms comes from being a Circle of The Moon Druid, but I love them tieing it into her personal journey. Lady Alura and Lady Kima were members of the council, they were fairly involved in S1 e1&2, and again in e1 of this season. Grog's interactions with the sword Craven Edge kind of accidentally ended up like an addiction metaphor, they've changed it up a bit for time and also to blend it with his other story beats this season - but it's interesting to watch play out.

Keyleth being so clearly based on Avatar TLA is something they never would have done if she'd been originally created for TV. But since the characters were designed when this was still just a home game among friends, we end up with this obvious inspiration.

@@amadorelizondo3848 Sounds like you are being very defensive. If you don't agree with me then tell me I'm wrong and be done with me. The fact that you want to justify what you said speaks for itself. Sorry but you are not going to convince me that you didn't spoil aspects of the story. Sometimes simply telling people what they will NOT find out is a spoiler in and of itself, but an even bigger one is telling them WHEN they will get an answer. It destroys the element of suspense and surprise.
