You should definitely read the follow up comics for both ATLA and LoK. They’re pretty great and answer a ton of unanswered questions as well as just showing life after the shows.

I guess you could say the city was in the Shadow of the Colossus. Fun Fact: the old timey announcer also played Momo and Appa in the previous series, Dee Bradley Baker. Who also played every Clone Trooper and The Bad Batch.

5:45 Kuvira doesn’t actually care about ruling Republic City. She only cares about the land it’s on which she believes was stolen from the Earth Kingdom. If the city is destroyed then so be it. It was a symbol of colonialism in her eyes and she can rebuild it the way she wants.

2:10 Raiko was definitely in the right to surrender. She had already blown up the Navy and while Korra believed Iroh II could go toe to toe with Kuvira’s army but at that point what can an army do against another army with a giant indiscriminate laser beam. Putting the millions of citizens at risk just because you don’t want to bend the knee is a foolish decision to make and one you can’t afford when you can’t fight back. Korra has an incredibly specialized team of benders that Kuvira can’t fight against( air benders, lavabender, lightning bender and the best metal benders not in her army) but aside from that the army would be mostly standard benders and non benders. And we know they don’t stand a chance after the equalist attacks and the red lotus and specifically Unalaq in the merged form that was just wrecking the city. If anything this is the only Raiko move I actually agree with.

Don't know if you've read any of the ATLA comics, but there's also a few Korra ones. Comicstorian has videos of them with narration that are pretty decent
