@@Aloyus_Knight That's part of what I love about Fi's design: her cape/cloak doubles as wings for arms! She almost has the shape of a bird, as the altar crest resembles her when dancing. Fi has a very beautiful and alien design that you instantly distinguish as another tier of being. Part bird, part ballerina, part robot, part goddess, part fairy, etc.

Heck, I don't recall there being ANY dungeon heart pieces in Wind Waker, with the exception of Forsaken Fortress (if you even count that place as a dungeon).

Yeah I'm surprised he didn't mention Twilight Princess as well. You are correct about Wind Waker, as The Forsaken Fortress (which I consider a dungeon) only has that one Piece of Heart in it, and no other dungeon in the entire game has a Heart Piece in it, as every other piece is in the Overworld.

It DID kind of help that I'm going back through the Zelda games I own again (a tall order considering I own ALL of the official ones released stateside) in anticipation for Breath of the Wild... and Wind Waker is still fresh in my mind as of this post. EDIT: as far as my opinion of Forsaken Fortress goes, I consider that place more of a tutorial dungeon than a real one. Still counts, but you don't technically beat it until later on.

Nobody actually knows the cheesy way to deal with Ghirahim's hand: just shield bash, then strike from the left. If you shield bash, Link will always hold his sword to his right, even when you prepare to strike from the left.

ekimmak Or you could also ignore the "set up" phase all together- in contrary to what most people think, you don't have to point in a direction and make a full swing for Link to attack properly- If you point up then flick your wrist up Link will near instantly bring his hand down and make an upward slash for example. Ghirahim moves his hand slowly so he can't actually react to this, as well as most Bokoblins until the desert. This makes a ton of enemies easier and quicker to fight.

Gear Wax First half, like I said. 2nd half, not much different, but when Ghirahim charges at you, head sideways to dodge it... Or, if you're feeling either really brave, you CAN actually hit him in the middle of the charge, before Ghirahim slashes at you- the timing can be difficult but once you have it, you have it.

Actually, I figured out a better strategy for it- back up and slash if he teleports, and spin-attack if he charges- the timing is way easier. Helm-splitting is even better, but you have to be more precise.

Nah... Normally, when you ignore a heart container, it'll just sit in the boss room and you can come back for it at any point. However... I'm referring to the revisit to this dungeon and the fact that, when you enter the boss room, the heart container won't be there because you have to fight some Stalfos as a miniboss and the room has to be clear; beating them then causes the Heart Container spawning cutscene to replay as if they were a real dungeon boss that you just defeated, but only if you never picked up the Heart Container after Ghirahim. It's such a small thing and this happens so much later in the game, I can't imagine anyone would just go with a one-heart handicap for such a long time just to show off in their LP, but it is something cool I'd want to see!

Also, set up is a lie- Link doesn't need to aim before any swing, as long as you flick your wrist which ever direction you wanna swing Link will make a full slash that way- and it won't be telegraphed thus Bokoblins and Ghirahim won't be able to block it (though later enemies, including alt. variations of Bokoblins even, will)

As someone who absolutely loves skyward sword and has played it more than once, I never knew all about the combat system and how deep it went. I would get absolutely infuriated by the Ghirahim fight; I never knew his hand stopped moving after a while and I didn't know you could shield bash when he sprints at you. Thank you for educating.

Actually, the vertical spin isn't called the helm splitter. The helm splitter is when you jump over the opponent and slash their head. I know it's called the vertical spin because I have the official strategy guide.

JJ Slider This, and also SET UP IS A LIE! Link will always make a full swing, regardless of where you point before hand. This means you can point left and instantly swing left- this makes things like Bokoblins and Ghirahim's first face extremely easy- though by the time you reach the desert, most enemies are no longer suceptible to it, and will manage to block anyways.

Zelda games have a thing of introducing creepy bad guys, but Ghirahim is by far one of if not the creepiest. From how rapid he is with his mood swings to the bad touch moment he has with Link in the first time you meet.

Well considering to my knowledge they were a creation of the Godess, I can see her being able to make them one-way, at least that is if you consider a story reason. If you consider game reasoning the reason is simply that a bunch of clouds blocking out the sky wouldn't look very nice, and also everything would be a lot darker, and probably most plants would have to be dead for it to make sense.

Chugga forgot to mention during the sword phase of the boss that Ghirahim will also occasionally just stop and guard in a direction. Swipe where he's open and you can also score hits that way. And if you walk up in his face while he's shooting daggers, you can knock the daggers out before Ghirahim can even fire them at you.

Timmy Thissen He does the blocking thing when he teleports beind you as well, I believe it is always a top guard so by doing a horizontal spin attack you can always hit him when he does that as well. Also set up is a lie, you can get past most of the first phase as well as most Bokoblins (it stops working in the desert as they have faster reflexes) by flicking your wrist same way you point (I.E point up, then swing up- Link will still make a full SKYWARDS swing by near instantly dropping his hand then swinging.)
