Excellent theory. And here's something I thought about... Nintendo originally said they didn't want to reveal the title for BotW2 because it would give away the story. So, "Tears of the Kingdom" is announced, and I thought "well that doesn't give away anything at all!" Except, hearing your theory, it totally does. I feel sure that you're on the right track. Also, they made sure to re-release Skyward Sword on Switch. Yep. You figured it out!

@@aslemartinsen5284 I started playing minish cap recently for the first time, and the wind tribe architecture is eerily similar to the Zonai architecture we see in the trailers and in BotW. The fact that they were experimenting with Minish-like abilities in BotW (with concept art showing and describing tiny villages that link could shrink down to enter) further strengthens the connection to the wind tribe. We know that many ideas they scrapped for BotW has ended up in the sequel, for instance Link's arm being the source of his abilities, and if they bring the Picori and the wind tribe into TotK the game would just be filled over the brim with content. Come to think of it, it would give them a fun way to repurpose buildings and locations from BotW with new gameplay, letting you explore inside the walls, ceilings etc. It's fun to theorise about, but it almost feels like to much content when we know we are already getting floating islands and new underground caves to explore.

Yup. That was my theory, too. Maybe you need tears to unlock different areas (replacing the Sheikh towers to unlock the region maps) or tears for energy to do certain things, perhaps kind of like a magic meter.

I can't believe that I missed that since I'm currently replaying Skyward Sword. I have a personal theory that the Zelda timeline is cyclical and that BotW/BotW2 causes Hyrule to return to the skies, which eventually leads to Skyward Sword. The timeline splits are various timelines that have occurred between SS/BotW cycles in the past, but they all end up at BotW since per Nintendo it's the inevitable ending of all timelines. I also feel like the cyclical timeline is reflective in the two dragons eating each other's tail -- or possibly being birthed from each other's mouths?

I've been saying since BotW came out that it's a prequel to Skyward Sword. In SS, we saw the ancient tech in the mines. Then they reveal Tears of the Kingdom, and we see Skyloft being formed, and you can even see the beginnings of Thunderhead in the latest trailer.

At this point I'm sure that the container on links belt is going to be holding the titular Tears, and considering there were 7 tear shaped symbols surrounding the mystery figure on the wall in the trailer. I think that link must collect these 7 tears across perhaps 7 new dungeons. It totally works for a Zelda game considering many times in other games link must collect certain items found at the end of dungeons. ie. The gemstones and medallions in OOT, The fused shadow pieces and mirror of twilight pieces from TP, etc.

The bell that plays when the title is revealed can also be heard in the BOTW soundtrack. In the song "A King's Request" at 1:35 and at 1:43ish into the song the exact same instrument is used.

@@TheJcris87 well of course! but the team behind Zelda has a track record of purposely reusing instruments, riffs, motifs, etc., to leave easter eggs and links between the games. The Zelda Wiki has a whole page on this, it's fascinating to read through if you ever have the time to do so. I wanted to call out the use of the bell sound because the "tears of the kingdom" title card and the sound played in "A King's Request" probably means that the "tears of the kingdom" and the Request of the King play into one another. I think the use of this sound for both the Kingdom and the King means we may see King Rhoam again, though I'm not sure why since he is a spirit dude now.

Notice that the green color that surrounds the spirits of the champions and king rhoam in BOTW is the as the same green hand holding Ganoncorpse in place in the trailers for TOTK. It's also the color of the luminous stones. And links hand. I think the main point I'm trying to make is that the bell sound = spirit stuff.

i just realized. while reading the comments, i was thinking back into the trailer. a split second before link lands on that flying bird-like object near the end of the trailer, you can see the area in which there used to be a Tower. the tower isn't there, but instead a giant pit. you know how, in skyward sword, the first few moments where you fly down to the surface, it has a cutscene showing the area with the sealed grounds? POSSIBLY, if this is a connection and a loop through time, that area could be the sealed grounds. (just a theory. tell me if anything sounded off- it's currently 1:20AM for me 😅)

They said we would be visiting 'hyrule, the skies, and more' what if that or is some sort of other realm or layer to reality where everyone disappeared to? The Sheika tech is all gone! (That's a really weird thing I feel like no one is talking about since the 3rd trailer came out) where did the Sheika go? Where did the zonai go, since everything is alluding to them being involved with these skies. And maybe there's a way to swap between dimension/timelines, or an item that lets you see a hidden world! And it would be super easy to hide that, just don't show it.

Interesting theory, it’s plausible that the game is connected to SS but I will say one thing. The bell is a different key from the one in SS. Also there is a similar sound in TP when collecting tears too just again a different key. I would be shocked if tear collecting was not in the game. But as much as I love the idea of a ‘trilogy’ I think it would only count if it was the same Link.

The tears and spirit vessel from SS are very similar to the light vessel from TP. I'd say it's connected to both. Which would make sense, because I think they're doing some kind of timeline convergence with ToTK, or at least some sort of event that they could vaguely connect a lot of the games to. But I am just speculating.

In Japanese, the Silent Realm are actually called Shiren no Sekai, which translates to “World of Trials” or “Trial World”. Shiren is spelled in both kanji and in katakana (Sairen), and in Hylian from that era (Sairen). But it ended up localized as silent, and lost its meaning in translation.

I don't think the bell sound has anything to do with the story personally, and it's just a instrumental choice (your theory is good and without many flaws, but very speculative). I do like however that you take the music into consideration. Unless it's obvious, I don't think that the instruments is important, but rather the melodies/themes. I've seen lots of proffesional musicians listening to game music and from the little context that they have, guess where in the game it plays and is mostly right. I've watch many people react to the latest TotK trailer, and in the first shot many people get exited. More exactly, the second the first note played. This note is sound very similar to BotW's "Field, -day". I myself got exited when I heard it, but it wasn't until the second shot that I was sure it was TotK (the one with the Bokoblins/Moblins). Keep making videos bud, it's always nice to get a new Zelda theorist! I know nothing about making videos but I would think making shorter videos like this one can be good. Most other people I watch make very long videos, and sometimes I just want them to get to the point and show me their reasoning.

I'm wanting to say Masked Nintendo Bandit was actually talking about this one. I remember hearing one of the big Zeltubers also linking the two sounds from both games. According to that theory, the Zonai swirls surrounding the Blupee looking character may literally be like the tears that we are looking for in the Silent Rhelm. I believe Twilight Princess also had similar tears that we were looking for, and among a lot of the symbolism of the Zonai we've been looking at, and looking at the Master Sword in the logo, think the Zonai could be related to the Twili? Either way, the "tears of the kingdom" could possibly the tears of Hylia herself, and we have to find them. I think there are connections to both Skyward Sword AND Twilight Princess in the upcoming Zelda.

Before you revealed that it was the Silent Realm I thought for sure you were going to say the Ancient Cistern. I went back and looked up the music and it does indeed have a lot of bells. Same with Lanayru Desert, which I believe is the version of the Silent Realm music you were playing, since if I’m not mistaken I’m pretty sure each silent realm just remixes the area’s theme into that creepy style. I could be wrong about that though, I haven’t played that part of the game since my first time playing it on Wii about 3 years ago. Just getting into the Eldin region for the first time around in the Switch remaster currently. I’m curious now as to what other parts of the game might have that sound.

I think that sound is a coincidence. Because lots of sounds do reappear in Zelda games as if the devs have preferences or they're trying to maintain some consistency. Yet I do have a strong feeling this game is connected to Skyward Sword. Obviously all the sky stuff. But also, there's that giant storm cloud obscuring something in the overworld. Straight out of SS.

Lanayru is a desert in SS, but it's a massive mountain range in BOTW. There's a lot of bell sounds throughout the series, so I don't know if that means they are related. However, I also had the idea that we may be getting a trilogy based on how long the planning phases has been for these games. Why not tripple dip on the most successful entry? Take a page from Pokemon's book?

Land features change over time, but I highly doubt the name was put all the way to the east coast when in reality it's referring to the western-most region.

Most of the theory videos that I've seen have said that the tears are likely like the tears that you collect in Skyward Sword or Twilight Princess, and it was also the first thing I thought when the title was shown, so I don't really think that your theory is new at all (being that it seemed like the most common conclusion) though I didn't notice that sound. There is also the clip where link is climbing up the side of one of the sky islands and it looks like he's either in a silent realm or in a Lost Forest type area with dust motes floating around.

Ok i agree with everything up to around 2:01 because Those Green things, are magical scrolls, you can tell by the pouch and its design that it meant to hold 4 scrolls. These scrolls most liking being ancient knowledge found in the Sky realm that link must obtain to unlock his abilities. If these were really tears of the kingdom Link would've consumed/absorbed them to gain his magical powers, instead Link most likely reads these scrolls and using a response to the new arm that he has, they most likely imbue him with a magical ability, being this games form of the Shekiah slate using 4 runes in the last game and most likely 4 new abilities in this game.(and you can kind of see those prongs that are used to keep scroll in a circular shape at the bottom,) The tears of the kingdom are shown to have 7 and if this pouch was a vessel from them it wouldn't have "8" available slots. And I know that this game has an obviously connection to Skyward Sword, and Twilight princess where link is shown to be collecting tears in the kingdoms of both. I don't believe they would just reuse that specific idea from both of those games. The Wild series might end off in a trilogy but because we're most likely going to beat Ganon in some shape or form in the game because I don't think Nintendo would scam us like that, it might just be a duology with planned dlc, and a new type of Zelda game with the open world genre being heavily implemented.
