The problem with ghost is whenever it's spinner hits something... It just stops. + The spinners so heavy that the bot wiggles in on itself, should have been a chain spinner instead

Good to see Lockjaw finally prove what it's capable of, here! That spring-loaded Flipper/Clamp in particular is very cleverly-designed, and it pretty much manhandled both its opponents.

lockjaws would have problems with some of the other designs. it would need a more powerful flipper It spent a lot of time going under stinger or sticking it on the rails.

Indeed! Though spring-loaded flippers aren't very powerful, this particular design works very well for Donald Hutson, who loves to be in control of a match. It allows him to grapple with other bots despite the active-weapon rules, and can give him time to regroup in a tough match while his opponent is in the air or trying to self right.

Because at this point Ghost Raptor had been cut in half by S.O.W and Chuck had to rebuild it on site, it doesn't seem like he was able to get it fully functioning because of the damage it had taken :(

SpitfireFortyFour well its made to take hits which it does.... mostly (and probably couldve gotten whyachi to the point of weapon failure if the wedge didnt slip) and the changable weapons are great, and its can get around really well, but the guy doesnt know how to make blades, its really well designed but can be improved offensively (which is why he went with a spinner in the first place which would make it on paper good at everything) and its the most lucky and unlucky bot, cause it manages to get opponents that have issues even when he doesnt need those issues to take them down but gets screwed over himself.

who is spicyboy? Ghost raptor didn't do much it was there but barely fought. Stinger couldn't attack and kept going over lockjaw. Lockjaw didn't do much but probably won because it kept putting stinger into the hazards for all the good it did. I think lockjaw used it's weapon twice both on stinger.

So we finally get to see Lock-Jaw's weapon in action! I admit, I was somewhat skeptical of how effective a spring-powered flipper would be (coughDiotiorcough), but it certainly seemed to get the job done against Stinger. Good fight.

I think he went for longevity and grappling capability over power with the flipper. As seen in both this and the Yeti match, Lockjaw's flipper makes an effective clamp in case it's disabled or determined to be ineffective. On top of that, because Lockjaw is a bot that always tries to go the full three minutes, it went with a weaker spring flipper over a pneumatic flipper because pneumatics like Bronco only get a limited number of flips whereas springs can function as long as they're still in good condition.

Chuck, time to build a new robot. Ghost Raptor wasn't that good to begin with, and it got quite a walloping this season. It looked like it was about to self destruct in this rumble. Build Delta Raptor or something.

Factoid: Preda Raptor actually started out as Delta Raptor - back in 2009 - in honor of Team Delta who we were collaborating with. Just because it's not easy doesn't mean you should quit. Ghost Raptor is a hard design, but all the simple designs are already taken for BattleBots - and they hate copycats... Anyways, it's not the first time that I've gotten my a** kicked (robots or other forms of fighting). Welcome the pain. Welcome the hate. Soldier on. Thanks for being a fan of the sport!

If I may make a suggestion? Comparing GR's performance from S1 and S2, it actually has performed significantly better WITHOUT the giant helicopter blade. I can see the idea behind the intended offense, but I think the blade simply is too much a liability between the spin-up time and weight - in the Razorback S2 match, Ghost Raptor was stranded on its head despite what looked like working drive motors because of the blade. I think if you removed the giant helicopter blade and focused more on what made GR succeed in S1, with the core bot being agile with a wedge-flipper mechanism and the 'adaptability' factor (the de-icer, for example). I know you say they hate copycats, but really GR being retooled into a 'swiss-army' bot ala Bombshell - who got into the finals with the interchangeable weapons - seems a logical evolution of what worked in S1 and avoiding the problems in S2. And you can also say GR beat Bombshell at being a swiss-army bot because you made GR into one on the fly a whole season before Bombshell showed up. But that's just a fan's perspective, as I actually think GR is a neat bot once the helicopter blade's drawbacks are removed entirely.

Ben H, thanks for the brighter side of the picture. GR was really a disappointment this season. We did a lot of testing with the old head, but didn't execute a lot of the design changes that we needed to make, in time. BB won't let me show up with anything other what I promised them - no matter how hard it is. The physics are really challenging on this thing. It will be basically the same concept next season, but scaled back quite a bit. Cheers!

Two of my absolute favourite robots this year in the same melee. Loved Sewer snake, not sure Stinger is quite as crazy but I love it in this config. Lockjaw just looks so cool when it bites on something too, I wish we'd seen a lot more of it this season. Hopefully next year. Not sure about the beef between them though, Stinger only had eyes on taking out Ghost Raptor and Lockjaw was focused on stinger, for some reason. Oh well, another great rumble, there hasn't been a bad one yet!! Thanks Battlebots!
