As someone who lives in New Zealand, the idea an ISP (or anyone utility company) can charge you a "hidden fee", is absurd!

What do you mean, most ISPs in NZ advertise a price that only applies for the first couple months of a 2 year contract! There's also ones that sucker people in with "free" stuff like a cheap fridge or TV then lock them into a high price long term contract.
@tin2001

Isn't it weird how other countries' ISPs have no problems with itemizing their bills and reporting all the fees publicly and it's just the U.S. ISPs who have that problem? It must be due to some weird electromagnetic interference from the tectonic plates or something over there!

When I was a young man working in IT Hewlett-Packard was a byword for quality. Now 'HP' is a company that tries to trick its customers into buying printer ink. Sad.

Fun fact: Before they got into the inkjet printer scam, HP was a respectable, well-liked, innovative tech company. So sad...

@@AegisHyperon Nope. HPE is just as scammy and disrespectful to the customer. They tried to put firmware security updates for brand new products behind a contract paywall... Not buying their stuff new or second hand simply due to the risk that BIOS updates or user manuals could go $1000/yr on a whim.

18:08 don't forget trademarks and copyrights aren't the same thing. I believe Trademarks includes slogans and falsifiable statements like "Canada's number-one yacht furniture upholstery detailer"... Or more simply, "have it your way" or "we got the meats". It's not just using a company name or brand name that gets covered by trademarks.

You know when a bank finds that it's too hard to pay it's account holders on account of spending all their money or losing it accidentally the FDIC steps in and reorganizes that situation as best as they can to those limits.. perhaps the isps should have the FCC step in and sort things out and solve what is too hard about things for them in that they cannot fulfill their obligations.. don't get me wrong government interference etc.. but there is a precident for it and clearly.. doing their job is too hard.. so perhaps someone should help them out.

'kyber' as in kyber crystal (star wars), kyber is a lattice based encryption (quantum safe) so lattice as in lattice crystals. Oddly enough one of the other half of that standard is called dilithium because naturally you need to mix and match your science fiction genres to make all the nerds happy. Also they name the standards because there are like 30 different proposed post quantum standards right now and marketing is everything when trying to get NIST to establish a standard. This is big money because lattice is also the underpinning standards to full homomorphic encryption (Secure encrypted compute) So the more likely your standard is adopted the more like your solution will be marketable (EnVeil is the big player here). The US Government wont use anything that is not NIST certified, the DoD in particular wont use anything that is not NSA approved and NSA verifies encryption standards for NIST. So yea Branding is a big deal when it comes to new encryption standards right now as it increases the likelihood it will get adopted.

Regarding the Chinese spy satellite, it's not entirely impressive. Similar satellites are already in orbit around the Earth. The concern lies in the fact that China has positioned their satellite at a considerable distance. The drawback of this approach is that, at such a distance, the quality of resolution is compromised. Placing the satellite closer to Earth would significantly enhance the resolution, but it would also result in the satellite orbiting the Earth. Essentially, China has made a trade-off between resolution quality and the ability to observe a single location for an extended period of time. While this strategy is not revolutionary, it is widely regarded as not worth the compromise. The spy satellite is considered on par with Hubble, however at that distance they believe the resolution quality drops anywhere from 5-7x.

@@Bob_Smith19 even gn's response came of as kinda petty. But the allegations from the former employee are just clout chasing bs imo. She knew video production is a stressful job and what she got into then whines years later on twitter when there's clout to be farmed. But o well. You are still right it's not news just drama. It's bad what happened to billet, how their product was portrayed and then auctioned off. But it's not that newsworthy and wasn't needed for gn to act like a "messiah" again.
