30:30 The passive sonar only detects biologics when they are making noises. Either communicating or echolocating. Whales which are not making noise deliberately are too quiet for them to detect. And the active sonar is seldom used in areas with known whale populations because it is thought to confuse them and cause beachings.

I manage a Cardiac Rehab facility. Sadly, insurance has determined the length of rehab for a long while. Generally most follow CMS (Medicare) guidelines and allow for 36 visits. Some, however, do not. Strangely, the Blue Cross insurance holders get the most pushback against rehab of any insurance. So much for private insurance being "premium".

@30:04 Navy ships (surface) don't use their sonar a lot of the time, especially active sonar. At higher speeds their own engines and propellers make too much noise for on-ship sonar, and remote sensing sonar buoys are expensive.

The laser does not get here faster, but the higher frequency allows more data transmission in the same interval. Did I get that right? More data in the same time frame and we receive more data technically faster, but the first "bit" does not get here any faster than radio waves. Only the later bits since more data is received per time interval.

I still don’t understand how DICE, with every BF game, fixes a metric ton of glitches and balance issues, and then every subsequent game, drops most of it all of those fixes and balance adjustments for their next game. If my boss told me to fix something specific in our infrastructure, and I did, and then when I upgraded our infrastructure, I introduced the same thing I fixed previously and then didn’t fix it until he nagged me for a year, I wouldn’t have a job. It’s like every time they release a freaking drone, people stick C4 on it, drive it somewhere, and blow it up. So they realize oh we need to make sure c4 can’t stick to the drone. That has happened on every single BF game that has had a drone in it.

On Windows, Linux, Mac and probably most other desktop OSes made since 2005, you've got multiple user accounts... Create a blank new one. Save the link for the meeting and any password you need into a text file, save it into a place both accounts can access. This way you have no chance of cocking it up. Bard would be nice if it wasn't limited to KZbin videos. I have hundreds of video files of TV shows that are now generically named because I had to recover them after accidentally formatting the wrong HDD. It would be faster to order the Blu-ray wait for it to arrive and rip them to my HDD than it would be to go through them all while using IMDB synopsis for each show and rename them manually.

He's American, and a Southern one at that with the list of streotypes about 3 feet long that follows it. He's just equating something that happens here with our politics to something happening elsewhere. Specifically the trend of there no longer being a middleground, so if you claim a mostly centrist political party that's not possible and thus you're some far left/right leaning nutjob in disguise. Obviously it's not always going to be correct extrapolation. On that same note you can't honestly ask or expect a tiny group, (whose main job is tech/IT & not world politics), to on top of read every article they talk about for a grand total of 2 minutes each like they currently do, but to also spend hours studying the history of every person mentioned in said article for each individual headline they cover. It's not like they are claiming to be an impartial judge who knows every fact knowable but still gets things wrong like so many "news" stations or certain "streamers" claim; it's basically like they say, just sharing URLs with friends. I really believe for what the show is, they do a good enough job of bringing up and talking about the more obscure current event headlines that you'd may of never found or heard of otherwise. Then if whatever "thing" they touch on draws your interest, you can go do some more reading on your own and come to your own conclusion.

Libertarian, Liberal and Conservative mean different things in the US compared to other countries. I always have do some research when looking at politics in other countries.
@boanerges5723 Жыл бұрын
He is against the politicians in general, he is for smaller government. He is a libertarian or liberal. In the US libertarian is more of a spectrum ranging from the more classical meaning of liberal to almost anarchists. It's only reliable meaning is that someone disagrees with both major parties. Most of the terms we use in the US for politics are badly skewed from what they used to mean and thus what they mean in the rest of the world.
@Sycophantichallenger Жыл бұрын
I've learned to just shut my brain off when Ryan starts talking politics. He's far too myopic in his views to accurately assess anything outside of his immediate experience with politics in America or what he's been told about politics in Europe/elsewhere.

Do you want to know WHY nobody's checked us out yet: 1. Space is vast. It's huge. It's so mind boggling big that it's hard to comprehend. For example: Pick an asteroid field. And asteroid field. Now take OUR MOON and try to bowl a strike. Just roll that sucker through the field. More likely than not, you'd probably roll right down the middle and miss every fricken rock that's out there. Not hit a single one. Now apply that on a galactic scale. We're talking, "FUCKING STAR TREK LIED TO US" way bigger than anything you can picture... AND IT'S VERY EMPTY! 2. That "Speed of Light" thing is a really big bummer and Physics seems to be a killjoy when it comes to traversing that big, open, empty expanse we call "our galaxy". Basically, most of the stuff in science fiction is blatantly wrong and won't work, and the stuff that MIGHT (Yes, MIGHT) even work has some really outrageous limits and requirements. Turns out, we might be able to fold space using a warp bubble... but it requires at least ALL THE FRICKEN ENERGY IN OUR SOLAR SYSTEM!!! (So, don't count on that gas guzzler anytime soon.) Turns out, we may be locked into our little corner of the universe. 3. Even if all of this is possible, who knows we're here? I mean, we didn't start broadcasting until Marconi came up with his little thing. (Well, if we're being honest, his tutors did the work.) Yeah, figure about 100 to 120 light year radius around our stupid little star, and that's all the solar systems that would have worlds capable of detecting we're here. 120 light years MAX. And there aren't that many systems that look like they host habitable worlds. Yeup! I mean, our calling card hasn't even hit the systems within our quadrant, let alone the far end of the Milky Way. 4. Then there's the Inverse Square law that governs how much signals decay based on distance. You know, the one that states: "the observed "intensity" of a specified physical quantity is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the source of that physical quantity." So have we even put out anything that can withstand traveling 120 light years? I seriously doubt it. That calling card of ours probably is non-existent by now. 5. Would aliens even know what to look for? I mean, our social knowledge of life on other worlds is only about... oh... 120 years old? It's entirely possible that the aliens out there just don't know life might exist on other worlds. Just because we thought of it doesn't mean they would. 6. ARE WE EVEN THAT SPECIAL THAT WE REQUIRE A HANDWRITTEN INVITATION TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD PLANETARY ASSOCIATION? I mean, we haven't even colonized our own moon, let alone our solar system. So, even if advanced civilizations knew we are here (which is a long shot) and had the technology to fly out to our own special little Florida Trailer Park of a planet, do we even merit the effort? To be honest, probably not. It's our own demented egos that demand we be the Milky Way's special little life forms that anything and everything revolves around us. Sadly, that's not the case, and the center of the Milky Way is Sagittarius A*.

Hi guys. So AI can watch and summarise. I can think of cases where that might be real good. For example ~ when Paul drops another 35 minute clip on RedGamingTech and the blurb does mention some things I'm interested in, I can get the AI to scan the whole 35 minutes in 3, and get back & tell me if I need to watch it or not? Paul does this thing. ~ "I have great and fantastic news, which is like this, but 1st a word from my sponsor. (2 minutes later) ~ So we have word about what AMD might be releasing, but then tell you that I have to tell you about circular disclaimers. The reason I have circular disclaimers is so that they stay circular ~ Do you actually know anything about Zen-5's IPC or not? "The Circularity of the Infinity Cache is such that the ideas and concepts chase each other around like a dog chasing its' tail. So that means we'll begin by explaining the concept of instructions per clock, in ways that are massively longer and more complicated and convoluted and have more build-up on the hull than the Queen Mary, and ~ Oh! Is that the time? So don't forget to come back next week when I'll waste another one of your half-hours. You're welcome ~ Don't mention it." The AI bots produce clips like this. The trouble is, Paul is exactly the sort of person / producer they copy.

@@tin2001~ Thanks tin2001. The ad is the lesser of the problems. The half hour clip to deliver ten seconds of actual information, concealed in circular waffle ~ that's my issue. But he does have sources and he is the original source of a lot of good information, especially if you're an AMD fan. But that just means you've got to plough through hours of his shit & dribble ~ I mean, it is at least pleasant shit & dribble, he is highly listenable, but he can talk shit even a champion shit-talker like myself, envies. They lost both vehicles to unknown specified catastrophic failures some 8 minutes in. None of that destruction was scheduled. They seem to take 3+ minutes wondering what's going on after the second vehicle is lost. They could have gone as far in the first test too, had they not used a ridiculously under-built launchpad that broke and damaged the vehicle. Needless to say, 8 minutes of flight and catastrophic loss of both vehicles does not bode well in terms of having those "2 billion a pop" rocket launches getting anywhere close to being practically useful, much less facilitate deep space travel. The big problem of this rocket is that it is nothing new, just more of the same, and when your rocket is made of n times of rockets, you multiply the risk of catastrophic failure by the number of boosters used. Those systems need at least one full order of magnitude more reliable before they can scale out this way.
