They have automated garden things for years now but they're all extremely overpriced and not worth 1 100th the price for what you get out of it in produce. It plants the seed, waters it, checks the soil dampness, etc etc, does everything but pruning & harvesting afaik. I'd never buy one but they're around.

Forgotten Realms, Start with R.A. Salvatore which wrote the book the crystal shard that Ryan mentioned which is the first book of The Ice Windale Triliogy. Salvatore wrote a Trilogy Prequel called the Dark Elf Trilogy which is the beginning of Drizzt Do'Urden that Ryan mentioned and that is where I would start. This is my absolute favorite books of all time.

Yep. Although I personally feel that's partially the Home Assistant developers fault for not having a longer release cycle for ordinary users (vs developers, I mean). If they released every 6 or 12 months, a LOT of that version specific documentation wouldn't show up in results like that, and the version numbers would have more significance to Google's search algorithm (although I'm well away it does think Windows 11 and XP are basically the same product).

You don't _want_ to bolt the motor (electric, ICE, or other) directly to the wheels. It's an issue of sprung versus un-sprung mass. If the motor were directly attached to the wheels, it would be rattled to pieces by the road vibrations. Locomotives can get away with it because the railroads are smooth as silk compared to auto roads, and the weight of the locomotive itself serves to dampen some vibration.

As for the BMW wireless charger story; BMW made most of the parts for the fifth generation Supra. Toyota tuned it. So they may have just had BMW's wireless charger for that car and not the rest of their line up.

If you don’t need high quality sound just get some bone conduction headphones. They are neither heavy, effected by sweat and don’t go in your ears. Plus they’re too cheap to be usable for heart rate. It’s probably near enough to the temporal artery that they could measure heart rate with an optical sensor add on, but it’d cost loads. Saw some Blitzwolf ones on banggood this morning for about $25. Only thing I’ve learnt is to wipe the charging contacts as they have a habit of corroding with sweat, but I use mine for running and cycling mainly (hence why I don’t really care about audio quality).

I use in a machine shop with earplugs. I wear them all day and sometimes forget im wearing them except for the audio playing on them.

19:40 I did the math too, an EV would save me about 1000 AUD a year but not none of them are designing or making plans for economical battery swaps in the future so I can keep my gasoline car almost indefinitely and lose 1000 a year OR outlay 40,000 to save 1000 a year for about 10 years before I need to pay 20,000 to replace the battery. New types of batteries might change that calculation but I doubt they will ever leave the laboratory just like solid state batteries, sodium batteries, batteries that run on hopes and dreams or reliably reversible iron oxide batteries.

I bought a second hand Jap import 2015 Leaf just under 2 years ago, and that dramatically changed the calculations... Mines almost paid for itself since it replaced driving a diesel LandCruiser around town and only cost me $18,500AU. Battery was at about 80% original capacity when we got it. We also charge mainly from solar, so that also effects the calculation. About 75-80% of our charging comes off the roof for free.

@@tin2001 the answer to that is actually really simple. The number of people on the internet has grown exponentially. Everyone has a phone now. It's not just limited to nerds online. So the same small community is now orders of magnitude larger. And that means the dude who hosted it in his garage had to move the hosting onto a "proper machine with a proper connection" more than likely in some datacenter. Obviously that costs money. So the stuff from back then is not viable anymore. It'll get destroyed the second anybody actually wants to join it. So we need a service that can handle the load, afford the hosting and has the goodwill not to shit on it's users...

Wireless earbuds can be super expensive, especially when you factor in that you will need to replace them every 2-3 years when the batteries die. And if the batteries only last a few hours on a charge with no way to use them while charging and your use case is sitting at a PC all day, they dont make a lot sense.

Ryan is like me, he doesn't like flushing money down the toilet. Like others have already said, wireless headphones are expensive, and because of the non-replaceable batteries they have a built-in expiration date, making them even more expensive. I only buy phones that have 3.5mm headphone jacks and microSD card slots, I presume Ryan must too. I am currently using a 99 cent pair of ugly green and purple wired earbuds that I bought on a newegg shellshocker. They have worked fine for about 5 years now. They even sound fine to my 57yr old ears whether it's listening to music or watching tv shows or movies. I have a backup set of earphones still in the package that cost 2 or $3 for when these finally die. If I had known how good the 99 cent ones would be I would have bought 10 of them. But each time they had them on sale they sold out instantly. I was lucky to be able to order them once.

A lot of the consumer moisture meters don't actually measure moisture. They try to pass current between sensors, however this is extremely soil dependent. In our region you get a lot of fine pine bark, along with compost for garden bed mix. This stuff measures basically the same dry, as it does dripping wet. Moisture meters work best with extremely fine/easily compacting soils/soiless media like peat. Not so well with more course blends unfortunate so they are not always useful in every region. I still trust my finger more to measure moisture takes some trial, and error but it hasn't done me wrong yet.

@@xanderlander8989 and teslas dont? show us the numbers of incidents per total sales of both sides of the ocean so we can make proper % comparisons and draw conclusions. ppl also yell foul at chinese gadgets even if they praise american brand products made in the same exact factory. quality control is expensive to reach some milestones and needs the brand to actually care about it. brand's caring about it has no relationship with their place of origin, just their corporate mindset. maybe the chinese budget oriented brand have product lines with dangerous fail rates while a more quality aimed model has the lowest numbers on earth. if you think the cost difference between chinese EVs and EVs being sold in america is solely due to quality control and battery design, boi are you in for a rough wake up.

Albermarle, a US company, is one of the largest lithium miners in the world. It may not be mined here but at less it’s a US company and the mines are in Chile. Still a horrible idea compared to hybrid ICE systems that benefit the average US driver. And at significantly less cost and material use.
