@@BrianReplies What Patrice said is 100% true, every time. If the man is happy, the female can be happy too. If the female is always getting what she wants (female is happy), the man is miserable. Because all his time and resources are going to her.

@@edgeofentropy3492 not really. That statement assumes all women are discontent people who want to have 100% of their man’s time dedicated to them. This isn’t true. I live with a woman who IS content in life. In fact, she’s more content than I am. She’s a very simple woman. She has no problem with me taking fishing trips and the other stuff I do. Because when I am home I make sure she feels loved and appreciated and cared for and heard. Here’s my secret… We walk our dogs after dinner…every day. For 30 minutes. Sometimes we take 2 walks in a day. This ritual Kees us out of our phone and we talk. About…whatever. Mostly she talks. And that’s what women want. If you listen to them…they think you are great. So she has that outlet. And so she feels close to me and loved. And since she is simple…she lives a happy content life.

I think it's just come to a point where women are realizing that (at least until civilization collapses) they truly don't need to rely on men for anything, so their tendency for loyalty is slipping (not leaving men out either, I've had my ups and downs as far as how "date-able" I am, and currently, I wouldn't want to subject any woman to this) lol... but you're right it starts to feel like work.

It is not in a woman's nature to be happy. Women dole out 'happiness' as a reward to those who have pleased them. A husband will eventually be taken for granted because he does as required without the need for the happiness reward. Also, the wife simply becomes bored with the game. As a man who has been with a woman for 26 years I realize her real happiness pretty much has nothing to do with me. It comes and goes like the weather. Trying to 'make' them happy just pisses them off.

It's hilarious that people say "happy wife, happy life" when it's the wife herself who is the cause of almost all the pain, anguish, and turmoil in a man's life. So, the advice from these titans of intellect to stop your wife from causing you so much grief day in and day out is just to give her whatever she wants whenever she starts acting up. Because everyone knows that if you don't want your dog to crap on the new carpet, you reward him as much as possible every time he does so.

In northern Germany there’s an old fable that warns men of women’s hypergamic nature. A poor fisherman and his wife live in an old ship on a beach. One day he catches a magic fish who offers him free wishes in exchange for his life. The wife tells him to ask for a cottage to live in. Done. Time passes and the wife is annoyed with the size of the cottage. Go ask the fish for a proper farm house. The cucked husband dutifully goes and asks the fish. Done. Soon enough she wants an actual fawking castle, then to be empress and finally ..god. The fish finally tells the cuck fisherman to “go back to living in your poor piss pot”. And so they do and the wife is sad and he is kind of relieved. Female nature explained in one simple, old German fable. Fables were passed down for a reason.

Exactly. Happy wife... is happy wife. That's it. If you need a woman to make you happy, you are doing life wrong. A woman is something you might ADD to your life, not something to make your life worth living to begin with. Also when you give a woman so much power over you, you will become her slave. Sooner or later you will be miserable until either you break completely or learn how to become happy on your own.

Contended happiness wasn't enough for my marriage. It wasn't romantic and passionate enough according to her. We certainly did settle into being best friends, life companions, and essentially roommates. We started annoying each other but I took it as the sacrifices we'd make in our dutiful commitment. It was constantly my fault for not being sexually interested enough and I spent a couple of years saying "Oh it's me, its the depression, I feel down in the dumps, work stress, etc." but we still had sex a couple times a month. When I finally said maybe lose some weight I knew it was going to be over. She left me last week. Glad I'm only 31

There is contented happiness and there is resignation. I think some of us, maybe a lot, just settle in and call contentment or label it happiness. There is not a clear indication where to go, so an acquiescence occurs where one decides it is best to call the situation happiness or contentment out of a preference to not want to put up with the aggravations of trying to change, or improve, the situation with all the attendant costs, emotional and financial.

These women could order food for all meals, send their kids to school and have chauffer for events, hire housekeepers to do ALL chores in the house.... basically never see their kids except for the standard "good morning, good night, and unavoidable meetings" and they would STILL think they are raising them.

There's a reason why , along time ago that when a family man married off his daughter that he would give the future husband HALF his friggin cattle, and HALF his crop, for him to take the daughter off his hands. That was cheaper than keeping her. Men are useful their whole entire lives, women, 20 yrs at best unless you are a genuine lady/wife/mother. When a man spends 100 on a pair of workboots he will make a million dollars at work while wearing those boots. When a woman has a $100 pair of shoes bought for her she'll spend $500 while wearing them that one time. Just a huge waste of time, money, resources.

Decades in this cult left me with a case of Stockholm syndrome. I believed it. I heard this early in my marriage from the in-law side of the family. It was recited like some mantra. I bought it. Years later I am neither happy nor content. I am without after these years any friends. True friends in what it should mean. Lots of acquaintances from work, but, friendships are not built from commiserating about work. However, my wife does say how much she appreciates my years of sacrifice. What really is the value of appreciation? So what? She and the kids were well off but I was always pestered by a sense something was just “not right “. I am angry at myself for having participating in creating my own trap.

I heard a line in a movie that gave it all away. One woman questions whether the other woman's boyfriend is a suspected killer among them, pointing out a hunting knife in his baggage, the other replies: "No, his politics check out." The only girlfriend I ever had told me I had to change my politics to date her. I thought it was an incredible imposition, so I dumped her. Most women are Liberal Democrats, and they obsessively judge men by their politics - they expect your politics to support their politics. They just presume it. The movie was called "Bodies Bodies Bodies". It was about a bunch of young people with all the new fashionable mental and sexual problems, trapped in a big house during a storm, and when their host turns up dead, they turn on each other and spew victimhood narratives until they kill each other one after another. It's a funny ending, which I won't spoil, but it amounts to another stupid thing.

@@stephenshelton4267 It would have been called a comedy of manners in the old days. It makes fun of spoiled rich kids, but ones who have had a lot of problems with drug abuse, and they use all the Liberal modern rhetoric of mental health and disabilities, and terms from psychology that people like to throw around to gaslight one another. "Narcissist" or "toxic male", and one even accuser the other of gas lighting. You know how you can walk through the nicest neighborhoods, with every fancy house a million-dollar home, and every driveway has big SUV, without a dent? I'm amazed to see how many of those undeniably rich people displays the same signs on their lawns: BLM, Science is Real, Biden. It seems like all of the upper middle class on up to the upper classes are the most fanatical of Liberals. I wouldn't be surprised if most of their success comes from having government jobs and union jobs, and it is all dependent on a sort of special government pipeline of funds - feeding close to the money spigot. Most of them don't seem particularly clever. Just as the candidates they choose are kind of dumb or looney, or crooked. It is a class or a subculture that owes its existence entirely to maintaining government spending, and it votes entirely to maintain that infrastructure of programs and payments. It isn't really ideological, but like sociopaths, it is full of people who know how to say what they are supposed to say. It forms a very scared culture of fraudulant people, who don't really know how to do anything, and they know they would not survive in the free economy, where they would actually have to know how to make things or do something other than paperwork. The kids in the movie are representatives of that feckless culture of rich bureaucrats, who are very pretentious and very false, but kind of stupid. Spoiler alert: One of the girls brings a kind of working class, half hippy, half lumberjack boyfriend that the others don't like because he seems like a low class toxically masculine man to them, and he is a little older than the rest of them. But the young metrosexual/gay host of the party is impressed by him, and he sneaks outside later to attempt to open a champaign bottle with a sword, as he had seen the other man do. It was a goofy thing to sneak off alone to try a trick like that, but being actually totally incompetent like the rest of his class, he doesn't know how to use a knife or a sword. He doesn't know to cut away from his body. He cuts his own throat. He throws himself against the window of the house, bleeding to death, where the other young folks find him, and they presume he was attacked by a slasher. They immediately suspect the man who was playing with the sword earlier. They don't bother to investigate, but they immediately turn on one another, secrets and secret conflicts are revealed and they go to killing one another. I don't know if you would call it woke. When I see highly exaggerated and ridiculous films that try to play serious, but they are altogether preposterous and preachy, I think of them as woke. Would anti-woke be just as preachy? Or would it be a cooler examination of character. The characters seemed real, for their type. And the show was played for pretty serious horror, which wasn't cartoonish, like in spoof horror movies. The characters could be funny, but the story is serious horror in the sense that it could happen if you gathered and isolated a bunch of people with past dramas and borderline personalities, they could go paranoid and start killing each other.

Contentment is key, as Cappy says. The essence of Buddhist teachings is the fact that everything (including our galaxy and the Sun etc) is impermanent, and that happiness (bliss), in moments, is fleeting at best. All attachments, aversions and desires are the root cause of suffering, so the last thing you want to have determine your "happiness" would be another human being, especially a modern woman ...

Disney has told women that it’s the man’s job to make a huge effort to make the woman happy- after working long hours to financially support her. It’s shown men spending every waking hour outside of their jobs catering to their woman with dates, vacations, new cars every few years, instead of women finding simple, wholesome, affordable hobbies and interests for themselves so that the man can have some damn breathing room and money for himself.

Nobody is responsible for anybody else's happiness. It is a fleeting state of emotion. Only psychopaths demand to be happy ALL THE TIME. As a man, once you realize that it isn’t in a woman’s nature or dna to be happy and content, it frees you from the burden and responsibility over it. Contemporary people in developed nations are misinterpreting what the "pursuit of happiness" meant to those who founded Western democracies. "Happy" meant free from indentured servitude, freedom from royal decrees, being able to choose one's occupation, as opposed to being tied to the land owned by the local lord, and basically not have to live life wallowing in shit. That was happiness. It had less to do with prosperity and almost nothing to do with a life centered around the acquisition of things. It's a low fucking bar in contemporary times (not wallowing in shit), which is why people have continually moved the goal posts over the generations.

Maybe such is the natural, evolved state. Multiple wives can't really be pedestalized, intrinsic to the situation they must compete for certain attention or negotiate among themselves who will take one for the team. They have little incentive to badmouth their husband because it's not spicy gossip to belabor the obvious. They may become self policing and check each other with regard to solipsism, conspicuous consumption, laziness, narcissist mind games, nagging and bitchiness. Perhaps a Mormon or Muslim can chime in with their observed experience.
