The Strokes probably became too famous too fast. With many of Julian Casablancas, Albert Hammond Jr, Nick Valensi, Fabrizio Moretti, and Nikolai Fraiture's albums that followed their massively successful first, Is This It, failing to live up to the hype. First Impressions of Earth was by far their best effort to solidify the band's status as a mainstream act -- with singles You Only Live Once, Juicebox, and Heart in a cage -- but there was more at play behind the scenes than they were willing to admit.
