I'm a 65 yr old white woman. I live in Tuscaloosa, where they refused to allow black students to enroll in the university. What people don't know about the south is since the Civil rights movement Republicans have come to power and things are very different. We've learned we're all in the same boat. My area is 85% black. There's no racial tension here. Southern hospitality is alive and well for all people living here.

I am white Australian and moved to Texas almost 7 years ago. I was shocked at how hugely race is factored in to every conversation and every interaction. My husband is a black American, and so the majority of my first friends etc, were through him. Almost every conversation with his black friends was them telling me how racism against them is so huge, and how all their woes are as a result of white privilege and oppression. My experience however, is that I have not encountered one white person who has had one racist word or action towards black people, but I have seen great racism from blacks against whites. I am not saying that there are no white racists, but only I have yet to encounter them. What I do see is the race narrative being pushed onto younger black Americans by their black elders. It won't stop until prejudice stops being projected and taught.

My Grandfather who would be 92 this past may, was a black republican. Dressed like how you would stereotype a suburban white man. My granddad grew up in poverty, retired and passed in a all white posh prestiegual neighborhood. I always wondered why he was the way he was. As I got older. It came to make sense. Then when he was starting to fail before he passed. He Educated me on this country, how to survive financially. He said Son. This is a Republic Remember that! You don't have to fall into the cycle of what the democrats expect of you. That shook me and he never spoke politics to me before. After that I did deep research and.... Explains why he was not the typical negro stereotype. It's about what you as a human being do yourself which dictates your path in life.

Once again I’m watching you guys and feeling hopeful! I’m a 61 year old white guy in D/FW, Texas and live in the suburbs, you know who else lives here, Black families, Mexican families, Indian families and every other culture, and we have no problems with each other. But if you’re in the Southside of Chicago, Compton, California and other such areas you are not exposed to different races and cultures. Most are Conservative here in my area because they’ve overcome the Democratic narrative and found that success is based on your work ethic and your ability to learn more about your particular job. Keep the great content coming and again, I’m almost 40 years older than you young men, and y’all give me hope that in the future we will all recognize that melanin should be recognized for what it is, color difference, otherwise we are all the same. IMO MLK was a Conservative and he was a Republican! In the 60’s where most Republicans did march and protested with MLK to his ideology… Jesse Jackson who happened yo be his right hand man, who convinced MLK to use the Democrat party! Jesse Jackson then later championed the Democrats in Civil Rights movement… Then Jesse Jackson who in some people believe JJ had MLK assassinated to take over the Civil Rights movement! People thought he sold his soul to the Devil (Demon-crats). Who JJ happens to be a messenger for the Democrat party... Everyone knew he, JJ was bought off by giving donations!! JJ even advocated for the Democrat Party and became really a rich man!?! How?!?

Growing up in the 50s and 60s, if it wasn't for Martin Luther King putting things in perspective with his "I Have a Dream" speech, I doubt I would have any hope at all. One thing most Black folks don't understand or appreciate these days is that we were 2nd class citizens back then... defiance was tolerated only so far. There was no one you could cry on; no one you could complain to; and no one who could do anything anyway. As a young teenager in the early 1960s, I couldn't envision a future other than the military, jail, or menial job. I couldn't conceive a career, and college was for rich folks. In 1965, I skipped school, hitchiked 15 miles to see Martin Luther King. I was on the sidewalk about 15 feet from him. I can close my eyes and still see him. In 1970, i declared myself a free man.

Brandon. Your point of us all being different is so spot on and is the reason that open minds for open dialogue is so important. All of us have ipinions and ideals, perceptions. Our perceptions, at any given time in our life, are a cumulation of our knowledge and our experiences to that point in time. Although two indivuduals may share similar knowledge and similar experiences, they will never be 100% the same. If we have these conversations, ask the why behind someone's belief, we gain understanding of the individual. Even if we part still disagreeing, having understanding allows us to respect the person aside from a difference of opinion. Keep up the good fight, young men! I Believe you are fulfilling a purpose and more young people will be reminded that disagreement does not equal hate. Maybe when we all unite, we'll understand that our struggles are shared more than we know.

In 1980, I went with a friend to his neighborhood in Chicago, near Comiskey park. The most run down homes, dilapidated neighborhoods I had ever seen (and I had seen some, DC, Brooklyn, Boston). It was very early AM , around 0200 when I went upstairs to bed. In the morning around 0900 my friend called me downstairs, I was greeted by 30 black young people in the living room, my friend said they had come to see me, that this is the first time any of them had ever seen a white person other than on TV.

Thanks guys, I ordered the book right now. My family came to the US in 1900. Very dark skin Southern Italian. No one would give us work except Black men. So my family only hired Black men when they stared a company. I live uour honesty.

Yep, my Sicilian side went through that but my Irish who also came in 1904, had it hard and got nothing free as today’s immigrants now get so much of our hard earned pay. My great grandparents and grandparents came in that first decade in 1900 and worked or didn’t eat. My husband’s cousin kept a newspaper clipping where they literally state “ no italians for hire”. That clipping was 1927

Really enjoyed this one. One of your best; calm, cool, and collected. Talking facts without all the talking over each other and spastic interactions you often devolve into. Keep it pro gentlemen, love it.

Solid conversation post interview. Life experiences WILL SHAPE YOU. People aren't monolithics, however, don't be naive to what can possibly happen around the wrong group of people (with malice in their heart or messed ideologies)

This was a real talk! Loved the different stories from how you grew up. Yall also recognize that others don't have that same experience. I would enjoy listening to these type of conversations more often.

I'm white. I'm so glad to see someone shine the light on the fact that we walk out the door knowing that everyone of color are told we hate you. Not everyone is good at jumping that hurdle. Personally, I ignore it and find that all humans respond positively to kindness. Fortunately my neighborhood /city outside of Charlotte has gotten beautifully diverse so everyone has an opportunity to show love everyday. It working. Great story. I rent a salon suite, the owners are smart, kind and generous black couple. Renters are 50/50 black and white. (The handful of girls I don't care for are white). Anyway, I greeted someone else's client who was a snooty white woman who was rude to me, I let it roll and greeted several black people in the waiting area. Later I was glad those waiting got to see that some people just suck and are rude to anyone regardless of color. Much love ❤️ Sue

It has been amazing watching your journey and your awakening to what's really going on. I've been with you fellas since back when there was a BLM poster in the background. I am not sure if you really understand how important your voice and your platform is. May God bless you and your incredible futures.
