Alhamdhulillaahi! Maa shaa Allah! The lesson in Islamic History, the whole presentation with the depth of knowledge, the immense time and effort to do the research, the enthusiasm, the connection to early History of Islam, the time when the incident happened, and the present time and most of all the lessons embedded for the future, the palpable descriptions, the spiritual connections, all this makes Dr. Yasir Qadi the one lecturer we have to "follow". His blunt exposure of the present situation makes this a must listen lesson. Wow! What a lesson! May Allah (SWT) grant more knowledge and more opportunities to Dr. Yasir Qadi to bring these lessons to us. May Allah (SWT) grant him the highest in Jannah for being the best user of knowledge. Aameen!

Imam Shamil was Circassian and fled to Dagestan. The Circassian Genocide was the largest genocide that happened in the 19th century and most of the Circassians escaped to the Ottoman Empire. And now they live in the diaspora like Turkey, Jordan, Syria, Europe and the United States. . You can look into the book” The Circassians” by the late Amjad Jaimoukha. War and Peace by Tolstoy is based on his experience of fighting in the Caucuses? War and Peace is about the Napoleonic wars and the invasion of Russian in 1812. I think Yasir Qadhi is referring to some of Tolstoy's other fiction, such as Hadji Murad, which is based on his experience.

It is hypocritical, as far as I can tell, to criticise the Russians for annexing the Caucuses when the Muslims have historically been doing exactly the same thing. The Byzantines, I am sure, did not want Constantinople to fall to the Ottomans; and I am sure the Spanish did not want to be overrun by the Moors. Nonetheless, it happened.

I was interested in hearing what Yasir Qadhi has to say, but I saw a video of him saying some very rude comments about someone and I was so disappointed. Why would I want to spend time in the presence of someone who uses words to attack those who don’t agree with his views? This was a basic lesson we were taught as children. Very disappointing indeed.
