I watched a few episodes of their reality show and I actually found them really endearing and relatable. The show humanized them so well and they not only struggle with normal human things, but also things most of us could never fathom, that come with being a social media star at such a young age. I remember particularly seeing Dixie have a huge meltdown about millions of people essentially cyberbullying her and calling her ugly and constantly feeling like she was being watched, and she was only like 19 at the time. And I also remember Charli saying how being on social media is literally a full time job that never ends and I believe she was only 17. I used to envy them as a teenager, but now as I’m in my 20’s I genuinely feel bad for them. I cannot imagine going through some of my most formative and vulnerable years under a spotlight like that. I just hope that in 10 years they’re not miserable and falling into dangerous habits like some former Disney kids did. I really hope they do well in life.

I find it crazy how a teenager went from being fairly unknown one day to the most followed person on the App the next. The whole world was watching and following the lives of not just Charli but that whole group of teenagers. It was a literal real life drama. Can you imagine going through your teenage years with millions of people watching you and having them point out every single mistake you made? Her whole life was up for discussion, even her first relationship got exploited for views. I think it’s worth noting that after the whole dinner video thing there was an interview I saw with the chef who prepared the meal. They asked him what he thought and apparently he’s their “regular” personal chef and has a good relationship with the D’amelio family. i’m astounded at the backlash to charli’s comment about wishing she could hit the follower milestones exactly a year apart… it just seems like the most willful misconstruing of an offhanded comment like “oh that would be kinda fun” the interesting thing though is that in this case, the number of followers she lost may not be a good indication of how many people were mad! some people may have been legit trying to slow down her growth to make her hit 100mil later

I appreciate the empathy you demonstrated throughout the video - I think celebrity is incredibly complex and I hate when people are just like “they chose this!!!! I don’t feel bad for them!!!” It’s like….. ummmmm they still feel the same emotions, anxiety, etc that any other human does. i will never hate charli. i was on tiktok ever since it was musically and i followed charli in 2019 when she started to become popular. she was literally 15 when she blew up. she had to grow up so fast and had so much pressure on her within 2020/2021 bc of her success. she was basically still a child in the beginning. i remember her posting a new dance atleast once a day- my girl was not taking any time off she was working every day while doing online school at 15-

the way i live for these videos,,, i really enjoy seeing chronological breakdowns/recaps of things like this bc while i love drama and shit like that, it can be so hard to rlly understand the full picture as it's happening! also most of the time as it's happening i feel so over it and tired of ppl being dumb, and then these videos have such a levelheaded and empathetic view. it's like a breath of fresh air. thank you for all the awesome content, and I'm looking forward to more when it's ready 😊

I really like the way Drew Gooden put it: in the past, you had to work to get famous. you'd get rejected from millions of auditions before getting recognized. you honed your talent and by the time you were big, you knew what you were doing and you deserved it. now, you get famous off of nothing and have to try and discover your talent while your audience watches. charli and dixie didnt know what talent they had to show off, so they did everything without doing anything.
