God - I need to build equanimity in my life. I have a great life on paper. But over the years I have become so reactive and bristle at the smallest things that are not to my liking. It is grinding me down. Thanks for the video!

My therapist recommended this video to me. I’ve been having trouble with practicing mindfulness. I enjoyed the video and I’m going to try to accept the moments that are generating my anxieties and be present with them.

Ah so great to hear! A lot of the practices on my page are very much equanimity oriented (check the “Breaking Free from Stuck Patterns” video). :)

This is my OPPORTUNITY to PRACTICE EQUANIMITY for I am staying calm. I refuse to go into fight or flight mode. I refuse to allow my sympathetic nervous system to get out of whack today I will stay calm, cool and collected. I speak this into existence NOW Amen Ase’ 💜🙏🏽🌸

Hey the thing with equanimity is it’s not about staying calm or refusing anything, it’s a lot welcoming the experience. If you start to go into fight/flight, you welcome that, you don’t resist, and this actually keeps you more calm overall. Resisting your experience or trying to control it is what creates more inner conflict. By accepting your experience, whatever it is, over time you find real calm. You don’t get calm by trying it be calm, you get calm by being ok with whatever is happening. 🙏❤️✨

Very informative video. Onerr more practical suggestion. Be careful what you feed your mind. Avoid comparing yourself with others, reduce watching negative social media and avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives relief from stress-anxiety. For a relaxed mind observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 10-15-20 minutes or more. You can sit or lay down anywhere-anytime. No deep breathing. Don’t fight your thoughts. With practice the mind will relax. Keep a reminder to observe your breath sensations throughout the day and night at home, at work, when travelling etc with eyes open or closed. One more tip is to sit on a chair without moving, be still and observe your breath. Stillness reduces thoughts and brings relief. Like me make this a lifetime habit to have a better life. Best wishes--Counsellor.

Yes! I can feel myself closing up as I become irritated. I don't really want it moving thru me but that is what it's doing. So, shall I practise opening to the feeling itself, rather than opening my heart to what set me off?

Hey equanimity is just about acceptance. It doesn’t matter if you’re Christian or Buddhist. In Christianity I believe the idea of grace is related to equanimity. It’s trusting God’s will, accepting each moment as it is. Hope this helps 🙏

Thank you for this series! The part of me where I feel "it" is usually the lower body parts centered around and focused on the anus. From the lower belly to the thighs. I've also been diagnosed with IBS, so maybe it's related? It's sorta embarrassing to say this, but maybe someone will relate.
@BeingIntegrated
@BeingIntegrated Жыл бұрын
Hey I'm not sure on the current research, but there's absolutely a correlation between stress/anxiety/trauma and IBS. Very very common to see this, I know many people, both friends and clients, who have IBS. Keep doing these practices for sure, it will definitely help ease the stress on your body.

i am a fan of your videos and they already helped me a lot and i know you mean well. but the story that you tell in the intro about the study has a bunch of severe logical leaps because someone has trouble to heal from whiplash and had childhood traume doesnt mean that thats what caused that. Its wrong to then go create a narrative around this little study about fundamental things and about how the brain develops and works. Thats what pseudo science also does. i get that you need a story kind of as a promise of happyness and a selffulfilling prophecy for your viewers and customers. But please be more careful in the future when telling about scientific and not philosophical things.
@BeingIntegrated
@BeingIntegrated 2 жыл бұрын
Hey I appreciate your feedback but I’m also not sure exactly what part you’re taking issue with. If you check out the book The Trauma Spectrum by Robert Scaer you’ll see his evidence is extremely convincing… he did many studies and I believe his science is solid. That being said of course not everyone who doesn’t heal from whiplash has unprocessed childhood trauma, but in his work that was the case most of the time. There are never absolutes and always outliers, but overall I think the science is solid in this case. Anyhow thanks for your kind words and I’m glad me videos have helped you and I will also be more careful in the future to say that in these situations it’s never a 100% correlation.
