I remember him doing the regular guitar lesson spot on that Bay City Rollers TV series in the mid-70s. Not an ideal setting but he did manage to squeeze in some very impressive little demo pieces and showcased his playing to those of us who’d only heard his more restrictive session playing.

I think one of the most amazing things about Big Jim Sullivan was how quickly he developed as a guitar player. He was only a couple of years ahead of the likes of Page and Blackmore in his career, but he seemed like someone from a different generation.

Pretty sure he taught us guitar on the telly in the 1970s. I know Ulf Goran dod. But sure Big Jim taught, had books you could learn from. A nice guy and a big influence on any of us that playrd guitar. Still does.

Thank you so much for doing this - you did a fantastic job, as always, it was so informative! Big Jim is certainly one of the most heard yet little known musicians throughout the world, so prolific was his first-call session work. It's really great to see so many Big Jim fans and old friends/acquaintances here in the comments as well.

Hello my friend, thank you for this! He was born the same day as me, though quite a different year. I love seeing the early photos of the musicians you cover, all these amazing people who find each other and become friends. The technical inventions and discoveries are fascinating, as is the sitar work. I’ve never thought of Jimmy Page as Little Jimmy until now! I think that will stick in my mind. What a great career he had. Wonderful tribute my friend!🤗

Thanks Deidre 🥰👍 So you are an Aquarius 😊 Yes was hoping there were more photos of him with other musicians but like with so many artists there were few. I think it depends on how long ago they passed and how private they were etc So happy you enjoyed the video and thank you as always for watching and commenting ❤️

Never saw An Everly Brothers Live in 1963 at the Olympia. What Stones tune did he play on ? That blonde with the sunglasses is Nancy Sinatra. Two of the Marty Wilde band went onto to become Shadows. It was Gilbert O'Sullivan that Big Jim paid tribute to with an album.

Jim was a brilliant guitarist. Can I suggest a tribute to John Rostill of The Shadows who also played alongside Jim in Las Vegas with Tom Jones?

The saddest thing is that he most likely played all the sitar parts on beatles album and never was clearly credited for it.

This episode was fascinating. Practically a who's who of rock music. I had never heard of him before today. Earlier today I was listening to Millie Small and it dawned on me how about some Jamaican artists: Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Millie, Desmond Dekker, and Toots Hibbert. Whaddya think?

The fuzz box was used by George Harrison in1963 on Please Please Me, the only way to really hear it's effect is listening with head phones.
