Gary was a remarkable man. Gave me my first guitar lesson when I was 13 - many years ago! Much more humble and intelligent than he ever gets credit for. He was a virtuoso player, even after many drinks!

You forgot Bob's second band, an r&B psychedelic trio called Head West that recorded one self-titled album in 1970 and then broke up on their manager screwed them over and their instruments were seized in Paris.

Jackie De Shannon co- wrote Needles and Pins with Jack and Sonny and recorded her own version in 1963. She also wrote”Every Time You Walk In The Room”She worked with The Los Angeles based “Wrecking Crew”. The drums were erased by mistake so Jackie had to go back in and record the song again” There was leakage and that’s why you hear a over lapping drum sound on the record “

It is impossible to explain to modern youth the euphoria of those heady 1960s days which saw an explosion of British music ,the like of which had never been seen before. Only people in my age group would remember that.

Tony seemed like a very talented man, too bad alcohol got to him, and then having all the other health problems he had. I’ll have to check out the Searchers music, I had never really listened to their music before. I pray Tony, that you are resting in peace. Great video as always my friend! ❤

Chris Curtis killed the Searchers ! Tony & Mike were good singers ! Mc Nally good bass ! ⚡️🌟🌟🌟⚡️
@MrPhilfridge2 күн бұрын
Suggest you read Frank Allens biog on the band , factually very good and 'kind' to Tony . Curtis was an odd ball but he had at the time a handle on what made a hit record and was as good a vocalist as anyone else in the band , once he was gone that sensibility went. Re John McNally. was never the bass player.
@stephenbrown3835Күн бұрын
@ Fair enough but Curtis didn’t have Jackson’s talent ~~ They were a quoted band but Curtis couldn’t cope as a unit ! ⚡️🌟🌟🌟⚡️

The Searchers were never ths same after Tqny left, the magic iust wasn't there any more. Saw them live at an outdoor gig in Shildon just before he left the band, and although they were brilliant, there was a sadness about Tony's performance that was striking. He knew it was one of his last performances, but we,of course, didn't have an inkling.

They were saying on the news today about that lad who fell to his death drunk from a balcony he was in the band One Direction. Apparently the music industry should do more for musicians mental health like it was something new but it appears to of been going on for a very long time. Another sad story. Thank you for that ❤❤❤

Tony had a formidable reputation around Liverpool(his nickname was "Black Jake")and was a terrific singer but he had a temper,was a heavy drinker and clashed with Chris Curtis which led to his departure -his next band the Vibrations were good zand recorded some good songs(watch your step is a cracker) but didn't seem to have much luck which is surprising as they were quite talented

I thought thee Searchers were the Best group to come out of Liverpool, to me Tony Jackson was the Searchers, retook to much sh1t from Chris Crummy (Frank Alans Mate). who was the most animated drummer ever the lads should of got rid of him, Frank Alan although a good Bassist he still wasn't as good as Tony by the way I'm well into my 70s

I met Tony a few years before his death and had a very long conversation with him.I was pleased to give him a rare colour magazine picture which went into hos portfolio which included a pic of him and Jerry Lee Lewis He told me the REAL reason he left the searchers which very few people know RIP Tony
@gerrymurphy38542 күн бұрын
What would that reason be?
@HarmonyHeartsLifestyle-ul5yv2 күн бұрын
Well Tony you are very lucky to know as whilst researching for this video there were so many different reasons given, even talk of blackmail 😞 I covered the viable ones I found but none of them were confirmed as the definite reason. All I wish for is that Tony was at peace with everything in the end ❤🙏 Thank you Tony for watching and your intriguing comment my friend 😃👍

@@chrisbacos they did do a lot of covers,but they always did good arrangements to suit them, sometimes even a cover that was better than the original (Needles and Pins)one member said that as far as songwriting was concerned they were never given the time as they were always either touring or being rushed to make an album (PYE released three studio albums in nine months)
