I remember seeing this guy singing You turn me on while on the Lloyd Thaxton show in Chicago in 1964

For those good people who are music lovers and are not familiar with singer Ian Whitcomb, check out his big hit from 1965, 'You Turn Me On.' "Keep on Rockin' in The Free World..."

I once bought Ian Whitcomb a drink in a pub in Soho. Or he bought me one. Or we each bought our drink. It was at the first and last meeting of a short-lived Elektra Records Appreciation, club.

The only knowledge I have of Ian came from the late 70’s BBC documentary about him. It was a fantastic programme on this lesser known talent.

Another great report! But you missed one big hit--"A Young Girl" around 1968. It was a cautionary tale about a woman seduced by a smooth talker, who left her, "lying here by the road". That was the last line of the chorus, adding the word "Dead!" at the end of the song.
