@@kedricksmith8331 I worked on a supply boat in the gulf for about 4 years. It was a pretty good job while it lasted. 14 days on, 14 off. Eventually it got slow and I left after a couple pay cuts

Would you see you have to be incredibly fit for a deckhand position ? Im pretty decent even tho im kinda skinny, but fear i'd wouldn't be physcially fit enough.

Your Mind Garden thanks a lot man! It’s different but I’m trying to save tons of money and I know what to expect. I’m spoken to my captain and all they’ve let me know. What’s the pay like if you don’t mind me asking. We make 100 a day as a deckhand on this river cruise and I’m sure it’s more than that

Blake Bleu starting out youd probably make anywhere from 130-170 a day, depending on the company you hire on with. what river cruise are you on?

Beezy Talking Shit carrying ratchets and rigging over your shoulders, tightening winches/ratchets, packing heavy ass lines over your shoulder far distances. My boat pushes 2 30s (or two 297ft barges that hold 30k barrels of product), and we have barge mounted winches. So it isn't so bad. Workload and bullshit you deal with largely depends on the company you get on with and who your captain is, quite honestly.

Thank you so much. I am a 55 year man, no family from a navy man, I can not afford cadet school. Is it possible for me to work hard, as I always do, to work on the seas as a deckhand?
