I watched Hogan's Heroes from 1968 to 1971. It was my favorite show at the time. Howard Caine's playing Major Hochstetter with his faux German accent and his antics have stayed in my mind since 1969. He was a very talented actor.

One of the best acted scenes in Hogan's Heroes is when Major Hochstetter is explaining why he let his prisoners go and even gave them his car in "War takes a Holiday". Howard's expressions are perfectly funny. Major Hochstetter is one of the best written characters in Hogan's Heroes.

My favorite line from Major Hochstetter is when he tells General Burkhalter regarding Col, Klink. "He will be tried, He will be found Guilty and He will be exacuted." The General asks, "What if he is innocent?" Major replies, "It doesn't matter, he Will be tried, He Will be found guilty and he Will be exacuted." That pretty much sums up the S.S. Mind set.

I recently started watching episodes of Hogan’s Heroes on MeTv in the evening, a child and too young to recognize the series value or actors when the show was filmed. I appreciate these reviews which shed light on the tremendously talented actors who served as the German contingency (and incredible story of Hogan group member, Robert Clary) and how many were Jewish and even immigrated to the US during those horrific times. Kudos for the reviews and history.
