I believe this because Voldemort's origin is better than Darth Vader's, Voldemort is smarter than Darth Vader, Voldemort is more charismatic and creepy, and because Voldemort succeeded where Darth Vader failed. To me, Darth Vader is like a slightly better written Uruk-hai and Voldemort is the perfect combination of Palpatine, Hitler, and The Joker. Also with regard to that combination I like Voldemort and Palpatine equally, I hate Hitler, and I like the Joker better than Voldemort.

Julian Hayden Voldemort's origin story is... rather simple. A witch falls in love with a Muggle, gives him a love potion, has a kid with him, stops giving him the potion out of desperation, gets abandoned and then she dies for plot convenience once she's given the kid to an orphanage where the boy grows up to be an anti-social and edgy child with a superiority complex. Then again, Vader's origin story is also simple, but that has more to do with the fact that's it's primarily a movie franchise. To say that Voldemort is smarter than Vader is to say that an engineer is smarter than doctor. They have completely different educational backgrounds and both are remarkably cunning figures. To say that Voldemort is more charismatic might have to do with the fact that Vader isn't supposed to be charismatic, because the Sith rule through primarily through fear and force. I will agree that Voldemort is more creepy (mostly because Vader is in a suit of armour), but I don't see how that makes him a better character in comparison to Vader. And to me, Voldemort is just an incarnation of evil. Greed, pride, arrogance and lust for power. His characteristics are so inhumane it's difficult to relate to him as anything but the baddie. Vader, on the other hand, is a broken man who hates everything he became to the point he'd rather destroy it all than face it. I find it easier to relate to Vader because unlike Voldemort, he is conflicted by what the things he's doing.

Well put fellow debater. While both origins are simple, I find Vader's to be a bit more simple than Voldemort's. That social outcast created the largest dark army in that lore's history, cursed his school, and achieved (temporary) immortality. Vader wanted to save his wife, turned to the dark side thinking that would help him, killed all of the Jedi, murdered his wife, and then served his Sith master until he ran into his son. I also see you point regarding Voldemort's intelligence. Why I understand your point, here's why I think Voldemort is smarter than Vader. It all comes down to their position after going bad. Vader became evil because he was manipulated into joining the dark side, and after joining he served under his master and the grand moffs and admirals he was sent to aid. Voldemort became evil because of his personal beliefs and his superiority complex. His training and studying of the dark arts led him to become the most feared and revered dark wizard since Grindelwald. Dark wizards joined him in droves because of his power and knowledge. In short, dumb people are easily manipulated, whereas smart people are the manipulators. Basically Voldemort is to Palpatine as Darth Vader is to Death Eater. I think the charisma and the creepiness of a villain is what will make a villain much more better than another villain that. If you look at The Joker, Hannibal Lecter, and Palpatine their charisma and creepiness gives them power and influence. Whether they are manipulating rookie FBI agents, terrorizing a city, controlling a galaxy, or creating dark wizard world order, you need to be charismatic and creepy. Then again if a villain is charismatic enough then his/her follows won't career if they have a snake nose, have bleached white skin, or got barbecued by force lightning. I also agree that you can't relate to Voldemort, but I also think that even though you can relate to Vader that doesn't make him a better character. Vader's motive's are relatable and understandable, but his actions make him less relatable and more hate-able. Not only did he kill all of the Jedi (including younglings), but he murdered his own wife and then he lead the empire on it's path of galactic conquest. And then after he kills the guy more evil than him, we are supposed to have pity on him and root for the guy? Let's suppose if on May 8, 1945 as the Nazi forces laid down their arms and surrendered to the allies Heinrich Himmler, the head of the SS and orchestrator of the Final Solution, threw Hitler off of a balcony because he had a change of heart, would you think he was a good guy? Would he have redeemed himself?One good deed does not correct a hundred evil deeds. Voldemort may have been pure evil personified, but at least he didn't start good, turn bad, commit atrocities, do one good thing and then get immediate forgiveness for everything evil he'd done.

Hogwarts school years go like any other school years, you are not 11 during your first year, 12 during your second etc. You turn 11 before the first day of the first year, and have your 12th birthday during that year. Harry had his birthdays at the beginning of each book, but they were technically the previous school year (so when he turns 12 in CoS, it's still technically the first academic year).

He's like an onion, there are so many layers to him. Miss him so. Don't know why he had to die and why Harry didn't try and save him. I’ve always found Voldemort very similar to Hitler. Both hated an entire race of people and viewed them as subhuman and worthy of death (for Hitler; Jews, for Voldemort; Muggle-borns), Both had an army (for Hitler; Nazis, for Voldemort; Death Eaters), Both had a symbol that represented their movement (for Hitler: the Swastika, for Voldemort; the Dark Mark), Both ruled over their respective governments with an iron fist (for Hitler; Germany, for Voldemort; the Ministry of Magic though indirectly through Pius Thicknesse), Both had the race they despised register as said race in public and had them killed or imprisoned. Both viewed a certain race as superior to all others (for Hitler; the Aryan race, for Voldemort; Pure-bloods), Both had a form of police that hunted down the race they despised (for Hitler; the Gestapo, for Voldemort; the Snatchers) and both seduced a woman nearly 25 years younger than them (for Hitler; Eva Braun, for Voldemort; Bellatrix Lestrange).

Voldemort hated Muggles because his dad was one and he believed that his father had abandoned his mother when he found out she was a witch. He didn't know that the real reason Tom Riddle Sr abandoned Merope was because he found out he'd used a love potion to make him love her and raped him to get herself pregnant with Tom Jr the future Voldemort. So he abandoned her and went back to his parents in Little Hangleton where years later the teenage Voldemort killed him along with his parents who were obviously Voldemort's grandparents.

for someone to be considered a true blood, they must be born into at least 3 generations of all magical parents and ancestors. Example would be Harry's grandchildren would be considered pure bloods if his children have children with magical beings, whereas only Hermione's great grandchildren would be pure bloods since she is born to muggle parents

Ben Tones James Potrer, Harry's dad, is Pure-Blood. While Lily Evans(Potter after marriage) is a Muggle-Born because both her parents are Muggles. So that's why Harry is Half-Blood.

No, Dumbledore could see right through Tom. Tom was bad even back then. He knew that Dumbledore didn't believe his "good act" like other teachers.

As a orphan, he had to fight with the other orphans, in order to have more supply (like a piece of bread or a glass of milk), also, the years before he went to Hogwards, UK is poor, the days are hard for Tom. He just want to live at that time, fighting for live is that wrong? Also, Dumbledore had already had bad impression at Tom before he met Tom, is because the madam said something like 'Tom is strange...' , but Dumberdore belived it without thinking the muggles may be scared/jealous tom because Tom has magic powers, Dumbledore think muggles are weak so he also put them at the first to think, but ironicly, he do not understand muggles- Wizards can not use magic in front of muggles but muggle can use guns and technology to kill wizards. Because of the words spoken by the madam, he did not trust Tom. If he give a little more care to him, Tom might not become Lord Voldemort(Children at the age need/want love and care more than power). If he tried to chat with Tom, he could teach Tom to be good, but he did not do so, he pushed Tom to the other side, and closed the door that Tom tried to knock.

No he didn't have to fight with the other orphans. He tormented, tortured and bullied them for sick kicks. At one point he had an argument with a boy called Billy Stubbs and later use his powers to make Billy's rabbit hang itself from the orphanage rafters. Killing animals is an early sign of psychopathic tendencies so Voldemort was evil from birth not because he was born from a rape but because he was just evil. He wasn't fighting for his life. You're just a Voldemort fangirl defending him because you fancy him. Mrs Cole was right to say Tom was strange because he was. And how could they be scared or jealous of his magical powers when they didn't even know he had them. It wasn't what she said that made Dumbledore mistrust Tom. It was what Dumbledore himself observed of him like Tom's habit of stealing toys from the other orphans and hiding them in his wardrobe. It wouldn't matter if Albus gave Tom more care he would still have become Voldemort because he was a monster from the start. He didn't give a damn about love and all he wanted was power even then. And are you actually accusing Dumbledore of making Voldemort evil? He didn't make Voldemort evil. Voldemort always was evil and he chose to be evil. You fangirls really try to make the most evil characters look like poor innocent victims don't you?
