The fact that she was called the ugly duckling really took me by surprise as growing up I always thought she was one of the most beautiful actresses in the industry, I still think that! My mother was named after her cuz all of my family loves her, I always viewed her as someone I can look up to and admire, she always gives off such strong women, elegant and royal vibes, she is like a queen. Seeing this really made me shook that she has gone thru so much and is still standing strong! My admiration for her just grew 10000x more. To act like dark ppl in India don't exist or that they only make up a small percent of the population is not solving the issue and is also delusional. Also yes there is a lot of genetic diversity in India, but that doesn't take away from the fact that a large portion of the population is dark-skinned. Also if one is from a poorer population, they probably spend more time in the sun (whether it's farming or working in open markets, even doing housework) and they may not have access to sunscreen or fancy skin care products, so obviously they're also going to be darker. And they are mistreated and underrepresented also, on basis of both class and skin color.
