Cozy Powell’s cover of Theme One was the opening theme of our discotheque’s DJ show from 1979 to the end of the disco scene in the 1980s. Loved when he played with the Jeff Beck Band. RIP Cozy ♡

Attended his blue plaque opening in Cirencester in 2016. Fellow musicians Brian May, Suzi Quatro, Carl Palmer, and Tony Iommi were all there celebrating Cozy’s life and drumming skills. I wore my Emerson Lake and Powell badge which was acknowledged by Carl when I spoke to him. It was such honour to be there and I will never forget this day.

A truly nice bloke. The landlord at the Saracens Head in Daventry which had live bands every weekend back in the early 90's said he was mates with Cozy Powell and said he would get him to play, needless to say we were skeptical but true to his word got him to come he came and sat in with the band and played a whole set for free. Not many rock legends would do that. RIP Cozy.

One day in the mid 1980's Lemmy brought me and my bass guitar (fender precision special) to jam with Cozy and a guitarist playing at that time. Cozy stated that women bass players were useless and lacked the aggression and attention to the drummer, needed on the bass. So, I walked up to Cozy, reached across his kit and hit him hard on the head with my headstock. Unfortunately as i pulled back his middle tom caught my headstock and a tiny chip out of it. That tiny chip is there to this day. Cozy decide to play and was really impressed with me, and told Lemmy he was right - "she's the most aggressive bass player I've ever met other that YOU". Lemmy laughed and said to Cozy "well, I did warn you". Cozy laughed back and a said "I've never been actually physically attacked by a bass player, until now".

Cozy is one of my favourite drummers of all time, first time I ever heard him was ‘dance with the devil’ from 1974, the B side of the top 10 single was called ‘then there was skin’ then a good friend of mine told me he had a n album called ‘Over the top’ in 1979, it blew me away and still does to this day. R.I.P Cozy your up there with the very best now.

To me, IMHO, the greatest drummer ever alongside Neil Peart and John Bonham. Cozy had the ability to fit within any situation and make every band he's been in much better. A legend. Extraordinary drummer. Happy to have seen him with Brian May in Argentina in 1992. Scott Travis, from Judas Priest, is another favourite of mine; oddly enough, Scott reminds me of Cozy.

@@HarmonyHeartsLifestyle-ul5yv An inquest in Bristol yesterday heard that the accident happened on theM4 near Bristol as Powell, who had a lifelong love of fast cars and motorbikes, drove from his home in Woodford St Mary, near Hungerford,Berks, to meet Miss Reeve in Cardiff on April 5. In a statement that was read out to the inquest, she said: "I telephoned his mobile at 8.30pm that day but he was having problems with his signal. "He said he was having trouble with his gearbox and said, 'I'm driving at nearly 104mph and I hope the engine doesn't seize.' "He broke of in mid-sentence. I heard Cozy say 'Oh, shit' and I heard a loud bang. At this stage I realised he was involved in an accident so I called the police." (The Guardian, August 1998)
