For example, don't just wish to be good at chess. Wish, that you work a lot on your game, and that you enjoy the process. If all you think about is the result, you don't allocate your resources properly for what is needed to be done. Think about the journey, not just the destination

I was told a story of an American woman who went to see a Korean shaman. He smiled at her struggle and said, "You westerners always carry such a big backpack of trouble and beliefs. You must learn to put it down and leave it behind if you wish to find your truth in this world." She was trapped in her past and her childhood. I could not help but see the correlation in this story. I loved the story as I do this one...Thank you.

Does it take work to leave the past behind?… how does one just drop off the backpack?
@robertperry8588
@robertperry8588 Жыл бұрын
@@marko6932 I've found that it's not about leaving it behind. It's about finally seeing it for what it is. Our nature is to run from that which hurts us. But what happens when you run from a backpack on your back? You only get tired. Sit down, open the backpack and look inside of it. Do this until you deeply know its contents and know what to do with it. The best way to do this is to sit down, take some deep breaths, bring up a piece of baggage, and just feel it without judgement. Feel it to the fullest that you can feel it, no matter how much it hurts, keep feeling it until you truly know it. And "know" doesn't have to mean "understand". You just know it.
@lanajthomasm.s.healthpsych7814
@lanajthomasm.s.healthpsych7814 Жыл бұрын
@@marko6932 Simplistically, it is a process of emotional maturity or EQ like IQ. Realistically, it is a willingness and deliberate conscious act of leaving the past in the past. It takes time but my spiritual guides told me that when I remembered something negative about my past, to forgive those involved, Speak It- and then send loving healing energy to them, then forgive myself, and forget it. The memories filtered in when I laid down to sleep. It took time as I would recall so many painful instances and do just as I was asked to. I went clear back to early childhood. Then the memories stopped. I left them in the past. Strangely, after time the process started again with a few memories. I asked why I was having to do this again. My Guides explained, "It is not you. Those you forgave are sending healing back to you." So, forgive and forget and the pain ceases. It is an act of love.

For me personally, this story resonated with me in the following way. Life can seem like it is coming for you, breaking you and bending you to it's cruel will. Sometimes you have to stop and not take it so personally. It is just the nature of being. It can seem cruel and vile. But, when you stop and breathe you can see the beauty if you release your resentment and anger. The tiger of life was never even after you at all. You may even notice the times that it helps you along after this. Keep going.

Please allow me to interrupt. I do research on how Buddhism disappeared in Bihar. I realized it never disappeared from Bihar. Buddhists simply failed to research Indian Buddhism. They looked at Buddhism through the sphere of their own cultures searching for only the Buddha. Buddha had a myriad of names in different villages according to his teachings there. Example. His favorite teaching was 'Lust and desire causes pain. Remove lust and desire, and pain is removed'. Translated into Bihari (where the Buddha story took place) it is DHUKH HARAN meaning to remove dukha. Three dozen villages pray to DUKH HARAN Baba. Its clear that DUKH HARAN Baba is none other than the Buddha. Problem is Buddhists are searching only for the Buddha. In the real Vaishali the Buddha begged for alms. The locals there pray to 'BHIKHAINI' Baba (Beggar Baba). Bhikhaini was mispronounced by Buddhists as Bhikshu. Who is BHIKHAINI Baba. The Buddha no doubt. But people are searching for a man called Buddha. In the real Vaishali, in Beluha the Buddha suffered a sickness and felt he had grown old. The locals pray to 'BURHA' Baba (Old Baba). Who is BURHA Baba. The Buddha no doubt. In the real Vaishali the Lichavies pressurized Buddha not to die. They trailed him to Bandagawan pressurizing him not to die. To put pressure in Hindi is DABESHWAR. Three dozen villages around the stupa where Buddha gave the Lichavies his patra, the villagers pray to Baba 'DABESHWAR NATH' meaning the man who won the pressurizing game. It was the the Buddha no doubt as he gave the Lichavies his patra and succeded in sending them back. But Buddhists are searching for the Buddha. In Pidhauli (Vaishali) the local deity is Bardiha Baba. Bardiha means the Baba who didn't allow us to stay where he was staying. Bardiha Baba is the Buddha no doubt because he didn't allow the crowd of Lichavies to stay with him in Bandagama. Forgive me for commenting out of the topic. I just wanted to impart this information to Buddhists.

I have been a follower of Christ since 6 years old. I have read every book I could find on Buddhism. Christianity and Buddhism both have helped me with their wisdom and other gifts. My sister, a severe alcoholic, found Buddhism through a person she happened to meet on the street. She attended the temple once, sober, and never stopped going. She also never took another drink. We are indoctrinated into so many beliefs as children, and warned against believing anything else. Judgment of others is supposed to be sinful. However, if others believe differently and you say they are wrong, you are judging people all day long. Much of society's cruelty is due to ignorance. You do not have to go to college to become educated about the world. Life experience, which opens your mind, reading, writing and traveling will get you where you need to go. Prayer also helps.

This I think is fundamentally the tale of the sub-conscience mind. We perceive new things based on perceptions & past experiences. This can be a very good thing or bad. Success breeds further successes & failure like wise. It’s hard to get out of this cycle especially if it is negative but I do believe by letting go, which in itself is a massive study is the key. Letting go can mean anything from giving up old habits to letting go of certain people.

Sure if the story is symbolic and the tiger is metaphorically inside your mind. If the story is literal, it is really bad advice for someone to brave the forest despite the tiger's presence. Am I to believe and trust that the tiger is only after the meat in my bag and not me? Not both? If I know that a tiger is in the forest, I am either bringing along a rifle, nightvision goggles, katana etc., or I am never coming close to the forest's boundaries. And if I really do enter the forest, I am carrying with me all my fear and anxiety towards my perceptions of actual tigers throughout the journey. Definitely not some amicable tiger where I can presume "it's not after me" as long as I have some snacks to offer.

It's not like a tiger is always after a bag of meat but after the carrier of the bag ... running away from a tiger isn't such a bad idea in real life. 😅

You are also a bag of meat, that is the tigers perception.

As a musician, I released a lot of music, and I came to realize that it wasn't what I wrote that people wanted, it was that people had certain desires and I happened to fulfill that. The writing and performing I could control, after that, the public decides on its own. The only thing I could ever do was make my best effort, their appreciation was hit or miss, but I can accept that.

Someone can understand this on his own just by being honest with himself,i did that for so long it's a weird feeling knowing you did good while you didn't know if it was the right decision or not. Yet sometimes it can backfires, making you questions if you had to be more "cold" towards them

Experience is not what happens to us, but what we do with it. We can use our experience to learn, grow, and transform our perception of reality.
