Well depends on how that is presented. We need to be taught that we were saved from our guilty sin. But I will say any pastor too focused on sin and the law and I’m out of there. That’s Judaism and not Christianity. Jesus defeats sin! Not us. Jesus was born a virgin and is not the seed of Adam. We are born from the seed of Adam. Yeah but that doesnt mean George Lucas tried to depict Christianity as something bad with that. The comparision is really not that anti-Christian since Anakin is also depicted as the Messiah of Star Wars and the one who in the end defeats evil and brings balance to the force. He's certainly not like Jesus, cause he isnt perfect and does fall into sin, but that doesnt mean Star Wars is anti Christian because of that. Star Wars has far more Christian themes actually than Buddhist ones, I think the Buddhist ones are just all a bit more obvious.

I think justice and mercy better describe the dualism of Christianity than light and dark. Both justice and mercy come from God’s love for us. Also, pertaining to your comment on Star Wars as Buddhist propaganda, I've actually found it to be a little more... complicated than that. Yes, the Jedi were designed with Buddhism in mind, but over the course of the first six films, we find that they actually shift towards being more Christlike as they become more honest with themselves as human beings, facing and reckoning with their own darkness in order to better confront the darkness in others and ultimately save them from it.

I find the most efficient way to have the right view is to understand that sin is a symptom of the original sin in Genesis; To be like Gods. It is rejecting living a life of dependence. Both sides have the same problem. We wanna live as "adults" instead of a child of God. If you want to do what you want, you are rejecting to be dependent of God of what fulfills you. If you're being legalistic and want to try really hard to change yourself, you are rejecting to be dependent on God, who has the authority, to change your heart and deliver you. Neither side wants to depend on God, they want to do their own way instead of God's way. David understood this in Psalm 51, where he repents : "I have sinned against you and you alone." It's not about breaking rules, it's going against the ruler.

Sin, Hell, Judgement... Are "dark" only in Calvinist theology . In christianism, NOT in calvinism, there is an All-Powerfull God who loves his creatures and wants to Save them from sin, Hell, and so on. In calvinism there is a blasphemous demon, Not God, who loves SOME of his creatures only.
@kwamesmith321413 күн бұрын
The Calvinism part reminded me so much of Gnosticism/Marcionism that I nearly left religion, faith, and spirituality entirely
@LittlerStinker13 күн бұрын
When you mentioned Jesus saying “If you’re not with me, you’re against me” I immediately thought of Anakin saying the same thing in ROTS and you transitioned into your star wars metaphor lol

I’ve always thought the Jedi were closest to Daoism/Taoism than anything else, being followers of the natural flow of the universe and all that. Buddhism is more about transcending the cycle of death and rebirth for the benefit of all sentient beings, Jedi don’t seem to have any real interest in that, just following the will of the Force/Dao. (btw do any Star Wars nerds know if regular people in star wars care about the force?)
@Auggg1114 күн бұрын
No, they don’t, they aren’t sensitive to it and thus cannot feel it
@Phoenix-vr6bv14 күн бұрын
Most regular people thought Jedi were just a myth, which makes sense when considering there’s trillions of people in the galaxy and only a few thousand Jedi at most
@AJX-213 күн бұрын
The Force isn't just the "natural flow of the universe", it is a living being with its own will, which exists in a symbiotic relationship with all living things. Life and the Force generate and influence each other.
@theeternalsbeliever177913 күн бұрын
Most ppl who aren't Force-sensitive do not care about the Force as they aren't attuned to it. To them, it's all just hokey sorcery and the ppl who utilize the Force are wizards who practice a strange religion. I forgot her name, but in TFA, Rey meets someone who believes in the Force despite not being Force-sensitive. She possessed the lightsaber Anakin had in ROTS.

Actually, I think the Mandalorians are more like us Christians since we Christians are called so because we worship/follow Christ and Mandalorians are called so because they worship/follow Mandalore. They also use helmets similar to Templars/Crusaders and they try to live lives similar to Mandalore's life and practice his teachings.
@TSN-WVK0814 күн бұрын
Well you can say the same of Muslims too, but the crusader aspect is clearly inspired.
@theeternalsbeliever177913 күн бұрын
The fact that the Mandalorians' helmets resemble the Crusaders' helmets doesn't mean there is some kind of Christian connection there because the Crusaders weren't truly Christians. They were Catholic butchers who assumed they had a Christian calling to murder ppl.
@BenjaminBaschmann13 күн бұрын
@theeternalsbeliever1779 not all crusaders were bad, some were just rebelling against Islamic oppression.

In defense of Star Wars, there was an episode of Clone Wars where Yoda learned that you have to have both the dark and the light sides. Although I think that was more of a ying-yang concept where you have to accept the evils within you, and now that I think of it, this isn't helping Star Wars's case.
@AJX-213 күн бұрын
It's not that you have to "have" the dark side, but that you have to recognize and overcome/integrate your dark side. That episode has Yoda fighting his own shadow side and defeating it by recognizing it as a part of yourself. To believe that you do not have a dark side, that you aren't capable of evil, is a massive mistake born of hubris.

Attempt 1 at getting Zoomer to adress his anti-Reformed Baptist bias. He regularly pretends we have no church history, we don't exist, are just Baptists who believe in predestination, or is out right offended by our existence. It is offensive to be honest and I will post this under all of his videos until he addresses my points. I do this out of love not hate. It is important for all Christians to have mutual respect and understanding and I want my perspective as a Reformed Baptist understood. Particular Baptists are Baptists who believe in particular redemption. Particular Baptists who more closely follow Reformed ideology and closely adhere to the 1689 Confession are called Reformed Baptists. These churches are often part of associations like the Association of Reformed Baptist Churches of America (ARBCA). Particular Baptists were one of many groups of Puritans who broke from the Church of England and, in 1638, emerged as a distinct group of Baptists with Calvinist beliefs. In 1644, seven Particular Baptist churches in London published the First London Baptist Confession. Two years later, in 1646, the Westminster Confession of Faith (which had been started in 1643) was adopted by the Westminster Assembly. The Particular Baptists then published the Second London Baptist Confession of 1689 (written in 1677), which aligned with the Westminster Confession but integrated with the Baptist distictive of Believer's Baptism. Particular Baptists migrated to the American Colonies fleeing from persecution. In 1707, the Philadelphia Baptist Association was formed, and it adopted the Philadelphia Confession of Faith in 1742. This was followed by the 1833 New Hampshire Confession of Faith, which was unifying for American Baptists, and represented a more moderate form of Calvinism that integrated well with other Baptist denominations. The Southern Baptist Convention would later use the New Hampshire Confession of Faith as a guide when developing their Baptist Faith and Message of 1925. This eventually evolved into the Baptist Faith and Message of 1963. Today, the Founders Ministries (a Reformed Baptist group) continues to influence the Southern Baptist Convention and has contributed to its conservative resurgence. Reformed Baptists are a diverse group. Some fully embrace Calvinistic theology (Reformed Baptists) while others, including some Southern Baptists, hold a more moderate or partial Calvinistic view. Reformed Baptists (followers of The Second London Baptist Confession of 1689) hold many beliefs shared by other Reformed denominations that aren't shared by Particular Baptists in other Baptist denominations. Some of these beliefs are 1. The Lord's Supper serves as a symbolic and spiritual means of grace. (Chapter 30: Of the Lord's Supper) 2. The plurality of elders (Chapter 26: Of the Church) 3. Elements of Covenant Theology (Chapter 7 - Of God’s Covenant with Man, Chapter 19 - Of the Law of God) Reformed Baptist's have a rich church history that has influenced other Christian denominations and evolved alongside General Baptists and Presbyterians. They are more than just Baptists who believe in predestination. The use of the name Reformed Baptist's is a recent development, with the purpose of differentiating themselves from less Calvinistic Baptists.

"I'll make a video about why Star Wars is Buddhist propaganda, and why Jesus is more like a Sith than a Jedi." - Redeemed Zoomer 2024 Certainly one of the most interesting qoutes I have heard. I am interested, it sounds like a very fun video, can't wait! (Though I am quite sure the Siths philosophy was basically the exact inversion of Christ's Teachings, selfish, the strong shall destroy the weak or make the weak serve them, basically demonic).

Superficially, that seems to be a legitimate claim… necessary because otherwise it wouldn’t get past the censors or even my own NDE filters… but I think there’s a hidden message
